Long-Tail Pair in general terms

I explain the long-tail pair as a general concept as described in Alan Dower Blumlein's patent. The long-tail resistor basically keeps the triode operation within 1% of the design point by making the current through the tube dependent on the long-tail resistor and not the characteristics of the tube (valve).

A prototype is not needed for a Patent. The rule is ''constructive demonstration'' of the invention's novelty, and its viability as an improvement to existing art. At that point, it's one engineer talking to another.
