307 lite. I also buy the thickening agent they sell. Give them a call and let them know you are looking for the one I used and they will help you measure out how much you need. Tabitha is great at her job over at polygem and their staff is amazing. The owner is real cool guy too! I also have links in the description that should take you right to the specific Zoopoxy I used. Hope this helps 🤘💯🦎🐍🐢🐸🌱
We got a regular vivarium wiz kid over here, and I love it. The most ambitious bioactive builder on the platform, if I do say so myself. I'm very interested to see how that behemoth viv holds up and grows in I've never seen anyone attempt an undertaking of that magnitude. Is there any reference you know of that your basing your expectations on. Do you expect it to be just as successful as your other builds?
Thanx Luke! And im interested to see how it holds up to. So far, so good. I know some of the plants aren't going to make it, but it is expected due to what I'm putting in it. But my theory is to over plant to have safety in numbers, then problem solve the ones that were taken out with hardier plants. Other than that, this is my most structurally sound enclosure to date. Thanx for your continued support! 🤘💯🦎🐍🐢🐸🌱
Thanx, and I'm glad you enjoy my work. It's hard to say how much it costs bc I have materials from past builds. Feel free to message me on IG and I can give you a better idea bc a lot depends on what you already have. 🤘💯🦎🐍🐢🐸🌱
Thank you 🙏 and I'm glad you enjoy my content. It's stuff like this that keeps me recording the process instead of just building without recording. Your support is appreciated! 🤘💯🤘
Another great video man. I know I said it on one of the other videos but man I so wish I could go back in time and redo my tegu enclosure now that I have seen these videos. Just the amount of thought that must have gone into this is insane.
Thank you! And I'm sure you will have an opportunity as time goes on to build something again for another reptile you get. My brain hurts while drawing up my next project 😆 Your continued support is appreciated 🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢🌱
Thanx Uncle Mike! as always, your help with this build has been appreciated! And the Varanus I got from you is loving it in there. He hasn't destroyed as many plants as I thought he would.... so far lol. The TH-cam world will get to meet him soon! 🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢🌱✝️
I love the attention you pay to detail. So refreshing! Great work. I also love how you emphasise the build, the enclosure, and the habitat rather than just the animal itself in your videos. In my opinion, if an enclosure isn't perfect for its inhabitant, what is the point of owning a reptile?
Thank you! Much appreciated, and I agree. The better the habit for the animal, the more rewarding it is! To watch them act as natural as possible is amazing to witness. Thanx for your support! 🤘💯🤘
Agreed, but then again I'm not a certified plumber lol. It's what I had on hand and also wanted to show the color contrast for where it is applied for video purposes. For things that are seen on the inside of the enclosure, I just use clear.
Great build brad you have inspired me too build something with a few more ideas that I haven’t seen in a build before. Keep up the awesome builds. What are the thickness of your pvc boards?
Thank you, and I'm glad you got some ideas. We all learn from each other! The thickness of the pvc is 1/2" thick (wjat the enclosure is built out of) and the drainage layer frame in this video is 1" thick. Hope that helps. Have fun with your build. 🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢🌱
what you did is amazing. i just found you started with the first one and now im going on to the 5th. i was just thinking about building my own cause i wanna build something bigger for my ball python with a waterfall and water tub.
Thank you, and I'm glad you found my channel! I say go for build something for your ball python. It's a fun project to do. If you have any questions along the way, let me know! 🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢🌱
Amazing build, I am kinda confused about how your drain works. So after watching this twice I know you make 4 sections and cut notches in the dividers and put weights on them to help make a low point. But what I don’t get is how the water is going to flow if the base is flat.
Thank you, and I hear what you're saying. The low point is for the sub floor (the pvc board I drilled holes in), so water goes toward the center. I guess that part doesn't really matter to much but I had the option to do it, so i gave it a try. My thought is it would help the water collect more = drain more. The base is flat. Their will always be about 1/4" of water in this part (drainage layer) they clay balls are about 2" deep so water will not collect and rise to the substrate as long as I drain it every 6 months or so. Hope that helps and makes more scenes? 🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢🌱
Thanks for the link to the door handles, those are really nice. Lets say your door frame height is 28 inches... How do you figure out how tall your glass doors need to be? Considering I'm sure the tracks take up additional space so you're no longer working with a full 28 inches?
No problem at all, and they are nice handles. Honestly I just take a small 1 inch cut off of the bottom and top glass track to the glass shop along with the opening (your case 28" door frame) and let them know you need a peice of glass to fit inside of the 28" with the glass track. They do all the measurements and cut the glass. It's always nerve-wracking when you install bit for the 1st time lol. Rule of thumb, though, is a 1/4 inch. So 27³/⁴ would be the height of the glass. But to reiterate i still find it best to give the custome glass shop the opening with glass track cut off. Hope this helps 🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢🌱
Lol, you got this. Any mess up can be fixed, unless it's the 218th mistake . Burning all seriousness start with a smaller build and go from there! Hope you had a good holiday. 🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢🌱
You gave me the idea to add a drainage layer to my reptile enclosure so the substrate would stop water logging. Thank you. Also, what reptile is this for?
You won't be disappointed with the drainage layer. It goes a long way! I'll do you one better and show you what animal I put in, it's the last video of the series ⬇️
I am working on building out a 6' tall, 4' wide and 2'deep enclosure for my Columbian redtail. I am loving the tips and tricks you are providing in this video series. I do have one question about where you get your PVC sheets? I looked at my local big box stores (and their online elements) and had not luck. Most the places i see on line want 200-500 per 4x8 sheet, which seems ridiculous. Do you get your PVC online or from a local hardware?
I'm glad you are enjoying the series. Sounds like you have a fun build lined up! I get pvc sheets from homedepo, Lowes or menards. They go for about $99 a sheet. Some regions/states don't carry it due to supply and demand. If that's the case, check out some sign shops or lumberyards. They sometimes know it as expanded pvc board. Hope this helps! 🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢🌱
Hey Brad, I'm about to build my first (smallish) DIY enclosure. Could you tell me which zoopoxy product you used for your background? I search zoopoxy and there are more options from them than I expected and it seems a lot better than excavator clay. Thanks!
Polygem Zoopoxy 307 Lite. Also get the thickening agent. It goes a long way with it. You can call them and give them the dimensions of your build, and they can add up how much you will need. Let them know you want the same stuff I used. That will help them identify what you're doing. Have fun with your build and lmk if you have any more questions! I do have the link in this video too. ⬇️ th-cam.com/video/E9RIR0qE_q0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_J3CMxF4gWzhBlbf
Good question. Ambient is great all throughout the enclosure. Here is a video on heating the enclosure th-cam.com/video/sdPF_ACFjuU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xdY3cow85KTh0-Lb Hope this helps 🤘💯🦎🐍🐸🐢🌱
I religiously watching these over and over and over. I’m trying to build an enclosure similar I’ve got my base built but my design is so abstract I’m losing confidence. Is there any software you use?
Don't lose confidence, just keep moving forward. I don't use any software, u just do estimate sketch or what's in my head. I would suggest building a smaller enclosure 1st to get the feel for it then u can build whatever scale after that. If u add a window just frame around it like u would a house window
Any custom local glass shop will be able to cut to size. 1. Measure opening without glass track installed 2. Bring a small cut-off of glass trackbto glass shop 3. Give them your measurements of opening and the glass track cut off and they should be able to do the rest. Hope this helps 🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢🌱
i'm curious : how much 307 lite and thickening agent did you need? I have a brazilian rainbow boa i wanna build a large enclosure for like this but considering the price i dont wanna buy too much
I used just about 20 gallons. But if I were to it again I wouldn't have carved out the foam background with a drill so much. It was a little hard to gauge my 1/4 thickness so I went thick in the divots/crators. Also I did go thicker in high traffic areas. Now that I've had the reptile in there and seeing how amazing Zoopoxy is I really didn't need to overly apply with it. I used about 2 gallons of thickening agent. Hope this helps. 🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢🌱
@@bradsbioactivebuilds lol nooooo it doesn't XD because you're saying its gonna cost me nearly two grand just to seal the enclosure lol. i mean itll be worth it but man good stuff is always expensive lol
@StevesRandomocity Zoopoxy isn't cheap but definitely worth the money if it's an enclosure you want to last for a lifetime. But 2k seems almost double what I paid. How big of an enclosure are you building? I can try and give you an estimate of how much you would need. Or call polygem and talk with Tabitha, she can measure it all out for you. And your 💯% right good suff ain't cheap, although I wish it was free 😂. But this stuff is amazing! 🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢🌱
@@bradsbioactivebuilds well their website says 10 Gallons is $625 so double that. then another about a hundred for the thickening agent.... and then the cost of drylock [and the pigments to go with it] to make them look pretty. [looking at at 10ft x 5ft x 4ft enclosure]
@StevesRandomocity yeah, gotta make it pretty lol. I'd say your close to about $1600 in material (i only did a dark coat of drylok over it and then dry brush, surprisinglyi only used 1 gallon of drylok). I know when I was using zoopoxy, I was thinking to myself this is expensive, but holy hell it's amazing lol. I'm getting ready to do a 8x4x6 paludarium with zoopoxy. I'm just gonna try not think about the $ lol.
@@bradsbioactivebuilds thank you I was not expecting a reply on a video from 10 months ago. I have always wanted to make my own enclosure but always felt intimidated by it.
@ifuknew-who3781 I try to answer all comments old or new lol. It's not to intimidating once you get started and there is no rush to finish. Most important part is to have fun with it.
@ifuknew-who3781 a boa build would be a fun one to do. Check out this video to get an idea on the measurements of the box itself. Everything in this build isn't needed but may also give you some extra ideas th-cam.com/video/kFIuR6ZNy6A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=tsHw88DhzH6whSST

Hope this helps

Could I ask how much the whole enclosure cost you? I'm a big fan of your work and wanna do a build similar to this one.
Thanx, and I'm glad you enjoy my work.
It's hard to say how much it costs bc I have materials from past builds.
Feel free to message me on IG and I can give you a better idea bc a lot depends on what you already have.

Another great video man. I know I said it on one of the other videos but man I so wish I could go back in time and redo my tegu enclosure now that I have seen these videos. Just the amount of thought that must have gone into this is insane.

Purple primer is just dyed cleaner. its dyed for residential inspection purposes. Its redundant with the clear cleaner.

Hope this helps

I religiously watching these over and over and over. I’m trying to build an enclosure similar I’ve got my base built but my design is so abstract I’m losing confidence. Is there any software you use?
If I wanted to have a window on the side of it, any ideas?
Don't lose confidence, just keep moving forward. I don't use any software, u just do estimate sketch or what's in my head. I would suggest building a smaller enclosure 1st to get the feel for it then u can build whatever scale after that.
If u add a window just frame around it like u would a house window
Hope that helps
@@bradsbioactivebuilds you’re seriously my inspiration. I’ll get it done 🫡. I’ll update you in a month or two
@pmoneysign3416 for sure, make sure to send me a pic on IG when u finish
Where did get the custom glass?
Any custom local glass shop will be able to cut to size.
1. Measure opening without glass track installed
2. Bring a small cut-off of glass trackbto glass shop
3. Give them your measurements of opening and the glass track cut off and they should be able to do the rest.
Hope this helps

Local custom glass shops can cut to speck. If u are in the Chicago land area, I can give u the shop I use
@@bradsbioactivebuilds I’m in KY but thanks!
i'm curious : how much 307 lite and thickening agent did you need? I have a brazilian rainbow boa i wanna build a large enclosure for like this but considering the price i dont wanna buy too much
I used just about 20 gallons. But if I were to it again I wouldn't have carved out the foam background with a drill so much. It was a little hard to gauge my 1/4 thickness so I went thick in the divots/crators. Also I did go thicker in high traffic areas. Now that I've had the reptile in there and seeing how amazing Zoopoxy is I really didn't need to overly apply with it.
I used about 2 gallons of thickening agent.
Hope this helps.
