You really must look after it,they’re wonderful vehicles! I had a T3 kombi,1995, with the golf 1,8 l petrol motor, such a fantastic gearbox,and could tow a 1 ton trailer with ease. The kids favorite car,long road trips were such fun! Had it for 10 years before my brother in law wrecked it . He lost control of it,plunged down a slope,right into a wattle tree. He broke his wrist because he didn’t wear the safety belt and got flung around the cabin. The strong frame saved him,but got twisted under the enormous forces ,and had to be written off. I cried . Most lovable,useful vehicle I ever had. I still dream of buying one and doing an electric vehicle conversion on it,there’s a garage in Wales,England that does it
My love WV. this productions from1980 to 1986 are perfect and durable. I still drive my golf 2 around in 2020.

I have a 1983 with only 87,000 miles that is totally rust-free.

I had an '85 camper, loved it, but it's amazing how much more car you get for your money today. The non-camper GL msrp was around $13,400; in today's dollars that's over $32,000. You can buy a lot of car for that. The '85 had no A/C, no air bags and drum brakes in the rear. Barely got 20 mpg. My 2018 Tiguan gets 30 mpg on the highway and is very fast, the vanagon was slow. But still, I miss it and would love to buy a new one.
My T25 is 33 years old and works perfectly, let me know if your Tigan is 100 % reliable in 2051
Put a Subaru 2.5 and disk break conversion. It brings it to the 21 century.

I wish VW had filmed every single detail of assembly. For many problems workshop manuals are useless.

I have wanted a T3 Dopplekabine for years, but they were never sold in the US & importing them is difficult.
You can buy one in South Africa but it would be a right hand drive, we have plenty that are still functional.
Wish it was available in India

Speak for yourself, I grabbed myself a rust free syncro that was hiding out on a farm, parked outdoors.
