Hey @NicoKnowsTech, I have been having this issue for a few days now where whenever I'm playing a game, Valorant, Apex, Fortnite. The game window just minimizes with me doing anything. Do you have any solutions?
Loved the video. Clean, concise, easy to understand. But... My parents got a new desktop computer. They gave me their previous all-in-one computer. I want to make this my downstairs computer. I want to remove my mom as Administrator, restore all the settings, and setup the computer as my own. Would this method be the best way to accomplish that, or is there a different option that I should pursue?
Na, safety first make a backup (even if it's 40TB) Format all the drives, re-install and reload (it might take a week to re-install everything; but it's better to be safe then screwed)
*Warning Notice:* This will format (probably only fast format) any _logical partitions_ that make part of the same physical drive where you are in-place updating your windows. P.s. You *must not* format or write anything to the free disk space. I have successfully recovered the file system markers, my lost partition appeared in the file explorer. So far the files open and the games run, things like labels in partition C linked to lost files of D have been automatically updated. All thanks to a little free program called "testdisk", you need to select your physical driver where you want to recover lost partitions; select file system format (I chose Intel/PC); in the list of scanned partitions select their type to be visible (e.g. L for logical partition); then select [write] partition info.
@@NicoKnowsTech That is correct because my logical disk D, that is a partition different from C (which has the windows I updated in place) but still part of the same physical drive, was wiped clean by the update. It's now listed as "free space", my custom sized system recovery partition was also dismantled. I just witnessed it today, it's a fact not a hypothesis.
@@NicoKnowsTech I did exactly what was explained, I'm not an inexperienced user. I used the update .iso file and it even had plainly written out option "save files and apps". My main disk C with the windows I was updating remained intact and updated windows, my second disk D doesn't exist anymore, my *physically other* disk E from a second hdd didn't change. It might have different behaviour because disk D has a different windows of its own, but again it was a logical partition of the same hdd as partition C.
if you have windows 11 pro , is that a separate creation tool or just 11 standard ? I have a gaming rig 5900x & 4090 . A month back I had a Windows update, since then my gaming performance has been effected every time I start up the system, frame timing is off & loses about 15 - 30 fps. Peak performance is restored once I perform a system restart & everything is good. Do you recommend the method described in the above video or is a full reinstall required ? thanks in advance
Is this also recommendable if I suspect there may be keyloggers on my PC ? Or should I in that case just perform a normal factory reset or potentially a factory reset "but keep my personal files" option?
For some reason my laptop won’t let me update to windows 11 and it’s keeps saying “something went wrong try to open settings later”. Should doing this fix it?
I’m busy with a fac reset as I type this. I’m a bit old school with a habit of mounting external media to wipe my rig. I’ll definitely give this method a whirl next time. Thanks man.
After downloading the ISO file to the desktop, there is no Mount option when right clicking, it only allows me to extract, but this isnt helpful as I cannot access "setup" to moev forward. Any tips>
You have to go to properties on the iso file and click change in the general tab and set it to open with file explorer then the mount option will show up
I right clicked on the icon on the desktop. Then I hovered over the “Open…” and then selected the File Folder option and it took me to the page that had the “set up option.” Apparently it’s already mounted 😂
A virsus havent had one of those ever since i stopped using, any Anti-viruse programs those where the main culprits, McAfee, Norton, the notorious AVG one's fine with the built in Windows Defender, i dont even use it. But this video can be effectivr if one ever gets Stuck in a Rut, Thank you for sharing i'll have ths saved on my saved Videos.
Just curious, ...I have windows 11 Pro installed on and old 2007 Toshiba Satellite A305 laptop, which is of course unsupported hardware for Windows 11 Pro (has been running fine on this laptop for about two years already), Will it have any problem loading the Windows 11 back on and unsupported hardware laptop, or will if load it with no issues?
I got a question so recently my pc has gotten the blue screen error loop and i tried everything to stop the issue like restore points it never worked i had no choice but to reinstall windows and so i did and lost all my gaming apps BACKGROUNDS data and stuff i want to know how to recover it all back
Back things up in future if you ever need to do a reset, like game saves and any files you want to keep, google drive is a good place to put backups. You'll have to reinstall clients like steam though because a reset is like saying you're installing it on a new device.
Do this... Boot to safe mode then open a command prompt as administrator. Run the following commands: SFC /scannow DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth ...then reboot to normal mode. Should be working enough to do this tutorial.
Hey Nico, I am planning on doing this to leave the windows insider program Canary Channel WITHOUT losing all my data. Do you think this method would work to help me switch from windows insider canary to normal windows 11?
after a recent windows 11 update . my refi/uefi folder or boot manager was damaged. I cant't get it to boot, repair, or fix startup issues. I can get to the files if I boot to linux or sirens boot cd. can you advise options on fixing the uefi / boot manager.?
Sounds like the file system is damaged. I'll report back if I get my business PC up and running. I have the same issue and all the tools I used to diagnose what the issue is says the same thing. The irony is the tools I use to fix the issue is on my business computer.

That is incorrect. The whole point of performing an in-place upgrade is to forego formatting. Partitioning will remain the same.
@@danser_theplayer01 then you did something other than follow the instructions in the video. This tutorial does not do that.
Full explanation: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/get-started/perform-in-place-upgrade
It worked ❤ thank you so much ❤
You're welcome!
Hey, just a question, if I did this like Win11 -> Win10, would it be okay?
if you have windows 11 pro , is that a separate creation tool or just 11 standard ?
I have a gaming rig 5900x & 4090 . A month back I had a Windows update, since then my gaming performance has been effected every time I start up the system, frame timing is off & loses about 15 - 30 fps. Peak performance is restored once I perform a system restart & everything is good. Do you recommend the method described in the above video or is a full reinstall required ? thanks in advance
Is this also recommendable if I suspect there may be keyloggers on my PC ? Or should I in that case just perform a normal factory reset or potentially a factory reset "but keep my personal files" option?
Regular reset and keep normal files. I would actually run my remove any virus video. Any of them. But a reset would work too.
@@NicoKnowsTech thank you so much for your response, will do the reset & keep my files, much appreciated!!
For some reason my laptop won’t let me update to windows 11 and it’s keeps saying “something went wrong try to open settings later”. Should doing this fix it?
Windows 11 is bad don’t download
I’m busy with a fac reset as I type this. I’m a bit old school with a habit of mounting external media to wipe my rig. I’ll definitely give this method a whirl next time. Thanks man.
After downloading the ISO file to the desktop, there is no Mount option when right clicking, it only allows me to extract, but this isnt helpful as I cannot access "setup" to moev forward. Any tips>
You have to go to properties on the iso file and click change in the general tab and set it to open with file explorer then the mount option will show up
You can just double click it
I right clicked on the icon on the desktop. Then I hovered over the “Open…” and then selected the File Folder option and it took me to the page that had the “set up option.” Apparently it’s already mounted 😂
can you downgrade the system to like Win 10 with the same process?
A virsus havent had one of those ever since i stopped using, any Anti-viruse programs those where the main culprits, McAfee, Norton, the notorious AVG one's fine with the built in Windows Defender, i dont even use it. But this video can be effectivr if one ever gets Stuck in a Rut, Thank you for sharing i'll have ths saved on my saved Videos.
Malwarebytes is better than all the above.
It worked bro thanks man.
Glad I could help
Hi Nico! Does it reset registry to deffault? Whats hepening when peaople used Debloaters, and Tron script?
It resets a lot of the windows only registry. It doesn't reset it completely as this would render your applications useless.
does this only keep personal files(files inside desktop, documents etc.) or really EVERYTHING, any game, any file on every harddrive?
Keeps EVERYTHING the way it is.
WORKED THANK YOU SM
Thank you very much!!!!
Anytime.
I got a question so recently my pc has gotten the blue screen error loop and i tried everything to stop the issue like restore points it never worked i had no choice but to reinstall windows and so i did and lost all my gaming apps BACKGROUNDS data and stuff i want to know how to recover it all back
use time machine , and stole ur own device, hope that helps,,,,
Back things up in future if you ever need to do a reset, like game saves and any files you want to keep, google drive is a good place to put backups. You'll have to reinstall clients like steam though because a reset is like saying you're installing it on a new device.
Hi! Nice explanation!
As of right now I can only access Windows in safe mode. Will this be possible to do in safe mode (with network connection)?
Do this... Boot to safe mode then open a command prompt as administrator. Run the following commands:
SFC /scannow
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth
...then reboot to normal mode. Should be working enough to do this tutorial.
Thanks man. Sadly this solution didnt work for me so I ended up reseting my Windows completely. Just finnished downloading MSFS again (170Gb) 😄
Hey Nico, I am planning on doing this to leave the windows insider program Canary Channel WITHOUT losing all my data. Do you think this method would work to help me switch from windows insider canary to normal windows 11?
Yes.
Does this help with fixing broken drivers
I know it might not reset all of the apps, games, files and whatnot, but would it delete anything to do with the browser you're using?
thank you bro 🙏
No problem 👍
THANKS VERYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY MUCH
after a recent windows 11 update . my refi/uefi folder or boot manager was damaged.
