I just love the banter in the beginning - Stephen saying when he's not playing frequently he comes back to a cloth that he can plant potatoes on, and both of them joking about losing in the first round of the World Championship qualifiers LOL Thank you for producing and putting out these content Stephen! You have a way of engaging comfortably with your guests, much thanks to the production crew too!
Reanne's contribution to the sport should never be underestimated - but by and large, it really is. What James Wattana did for Asian snooker, Reanne has done for women's snooker (James would make a great guest too I reckon!). And having seen Bai Yulu in action, honestly, she is frighteningly good. When she does make her breakthrough - it might be very soon, it might be a bit later, but it will happen - she'll be a match for anyone on the main tour!
This channel is honestly amazing Stephen. Learning about the life of a professional snooker player. The immense travelling and the hard work needed to make it, it's incredibly interesting. I like how you keep the mistakes in, just to show the pros do miss too and a lot! Reanne was a joy this episode, such a lovely lady and the insight into the women's game was interesting too. Yes, thank you Stephen. I hope you continue to make more videos and invite more guests. I would love Ronnie to come on one time, that would be a very enjoyable episode.
Bravo for having Reanne on Stephen......such a lovely lass ,enjoys the banter and cracking player in her prime , and to Reanne , i wish you all the very best with your health problems ❤ xx
I see a not too distant future when the two of you are doing commentary together at major snooker events. The chemistry is great and you both obviously love the game and passionately care about what it's future brings. Thanks for another great video. Keep pestering those players to come onto your show. I haven't seen one player that hasn't enjoyed being on it.
Great video! Really appreciate such a casual clash of greats, keen insight from brilliant minds. Hurts to hear about Reanne's struggles with the tremor, but she's one of the world's finest, I'm sure she'll overcome
Stephen, I discovered snooker in the 80s and fell in love with it - including with Steve Davis. Then you came, somewhat reserved (reservation that my immature brain mistook for arrogance), and crushed everyone - including Steve.. Being an inexperienced teen, I hated you for it (and my English was very rudimentary, so I didn't get any nuances). Thanks to your fantastic videos (and my English having improved), I discover a great human, with a great sense of humour, who's able to make anyone talk and who's tailoring the interview to the process. I now love you, Stephen! Also, in addition to being a great player, Reanne is a superb pundit, just as yourself: it would be wonderful if she could comment more matches and even better if you and Reanne could do that together.

@@peterphilstacey4698 Lack of power would be the obvious answer. But they are terrible in every other aspect. The prize money is a fraction of what the men get so maybe there isn't a whole lot of motivation for anyone outside the top 10 in the world. Like most sports, it is a mans game.
@@NeilusNihilus The reason there is no sponsorship money is because no one watches it and very few actually turn out to watch the woman's game, so companies don't want to put any money into it.
Speak a lot with Reanne when I’m down the club and spoke about this financial side of women’s snooker last time I saw her, to be the best of the best in your sport and getting paid next to nothing for putting in all the hard work must be so demoralising. Love Reanne and the channel Stephen keep it up!

Id love to understand more about the finances of the players. Where their money comes from, how much for tournaments, sponsorships etc. The struggles of the lower ranked players and the triumph of being at the top.
The fact there is a wikipedia page dedicated to players who have been arrested or investigated over match fixings tells you alot they earn pennies at the bottom
@@HectorCamacho67 yes the money is definitely at the top it is extremely lucrative if you are a top 16 player and a real struggle if you are in the bottom 64 on tour

I'm glad a conversation about the women's game came up. I would say I'm more interested in the future of snooker then ever, as I really feel that Snooker & Darts can be the first sports to really evolve into open-gender competition. We're in a really tough spot as a society at the moment when it comes to gender in sport as men have an overwhelming advantage in most, if not all sports. However, Snooker & Darts have the least amount of entry requirements to allow for women to really compete against the men. The risk of having a main tour and a women's tour is the best female player, only needs to be better than other females to be a success. Then when they try & compete with the men, they're not match sharp and they're unable to handle the pressure added, just as Reanne mentioned. I spent many years playing snooker (3/4 table, I cheat...) with the same locals in my old club & I really felt that I was getting better as I was winning all the time, but then I moved clubs and realized my competition was holding my ability back. I found myself improving massively when I was getting beaten daily by better players, to the point where I'm now able to compete at their level. I think Stephen is right, there should be a Women's World Championship each year, but in my opinion we need to find a way of building better female snooker players on the main tour. My last statement is that it needs to be monitored closely to see if Steve Davis' comments about women and their "single-minded determination" or something else which prevents them for truly competing against men, is a hurdle they can't overcome. If we find that women will never be able to compete, then I'm open to both gender's having a tour, but only after we have evidence to prove this is the best course to take.
as proven many many times the women simply cannot compete with men yeah they can win the odd game here and there but if you have open competitions between men and women the women will never win anything
What a lovely, down to earth and talented lady Reanne is. I really hope we see more of the women's game on TV and hear more of Reanne's cute accent commentating.
