This process and spine alignment are fundamental in rod building. Spine location is where the rod naturally lays when loaded and specific to the radial location of the reel seat, either for a spinning or convention reels. Guides are only for keeping the line from contacting the blank under load or preventing too radical a line angle between them, basically following the curvature of the loaded rod. So, they need to be more where the blank bends vs equally spaced. Spacing and size of the stripper guide is very important in that it be centered for the reel spool height and not be too choking, especially for spinning reels. Preventing spinning line slap when casting should consider as well. The guides after the stripper should be downsized as small and few as possible following the blank, keeping weight to a minimum. Balancing with the intended loaded reel by adding weight to the butt is also important for comfort and less fatigue. Hope this helps someone, just my take from experience.
Thanks for sharing. I'm building my first rod and this is really helpful as I've stumbled a bit on the guide layout with micro guides.
Thanks
