My daughter died in May of 1988, she was 3 months old. When I first heard this song I busted into tears and within the family it immediately became "Jennifer's song" as she had blounde hair and the most beautiful blue eyes ever, and we were from Colorado as well. Although it makes me cry, it also makes me smile, and anyone who has walked in my shoes will understand.
@George Strait thank you for noticing my comment, sir. I have been a fan since your first hit. Since you first hit National awareness. I also love your movie, too. You could have made a career at acting, if you had wanted.
Why can't people see that beautiful songs like this are so much better than songs that talk about drugs and other terrible things. I absolutely love this song. King George is one of the greatest of all time.
Well.... Music is best when it reminds us of what it means to be human and that we're not so damned alone in this world. Drugs can be a major piece of the human experience for some people. I don't necessarily mean getting sober either. Look up a song called "A Junkies Prayer" by Steve Hodak, it's the most honest and true song I have ever heard about drugs. It's every bit as beautiful as anything George Strait has done.
my mom passed away 5 years ago, i was 11 years old. this was the song she and my grandpa danced to all the time, she would sing this every now and then, i prayed for god to tell her i love her a few days ago, and the first song that played when i turned the radio on was baby blue, i miss you mom, i love you.
I am so sorry that you lost your mom. I am glad that this song has a special memory with it. It has probably been so hard hitting recent milestones in your life to not have your mama with you.
Back in the 80s,I remember going to a George strait concert when I was a kid in Belton Tx. I remember my mother telling me that George had lost his daughter in a car accident. Here i am in 2019,been listening to him all my life, just now finding out this song was about his daughter! Being a father, this song that I have heard all my life, brought me tears for the 1st time! God bless anyone that has had to bury a child!
Been loving this song since it came out in the early eighties. Never knew the background until just now. George had/has the best pipes of all the Golden voices ever to sing country western music.
I lost my sister ten tears ago and my parents have never been the same, this song makes me sad because I lost my sister but I also lost a part of my parents. Praying I see her in heaven.
My dad use to sing this to me all the time. He's been gone now for almost 7 years. I'm getting married next April and his best friend is going to step in and do the daddy daughter dance with me. I doubt I will be able to hold it together. such a beautiful song!
It’s 2023 and this song still hits me in all the right places. I remember my father playing this song every morning on our way to school. since then it’s been saved in my memory forever. I love you dad thank you for all that you have done for us. George straits I’m so sorry for the lost of your daughter. Country music has been my favorite genre since I heard this song.
This was one of my grandmas's favorite songs by George Strait. She dedicated it to me before she passed away. I love you grandma. Rest in Peace Grandma 12-31-2009
I am sorry for you loss. I lost my mom 3 years ago and my birthday is in 2 weeks and I still wait for the phone call from her wishing me a happy birthday. A girl losing her father is like a boy losing his mother, you do not ever get over it you just learn to live with the void and keep them in your memories.
I. DEDICATE THIS SONG TO MY LITTLE BABY GIRL SALLY E. CARTER BORN YR 87 WAS IN MY WORLD FOR 45 MINUTES BEFORE SHE PASSED. HER BLONDE LOCKETS N BABY BLUE EYES! MOMMY LOVES U ALWAYS I'LL SEE U IN HEAVEN SOON. 😘👶👼👸❤💙
+Denise Carter you would love an old Jim Reeves tune The Tie That Binds. so sorry for your loss. i lost my second neice she died in the womb. she would have been in her mid 20's God Bless
+Jayce McPherson we all ask that question. Dr told my bro and sis-in-love she would have been brain damaged if she had lived so i'm glad she is with Jesus
That song to your little girl , is so touching , yet she memorialized in song by her Daddy ! She , still has a Daddy here and only God knows the details of every life that was allowed to be born , and only he is the most Living Father of all ! My condolences , George , you will see her one day when God is ready and your toils on earth are over , the reunion will be reality , everlasting ! God always has a plan , my brother , we will be reunited above!
My grandpa on my moms side sang this song to me and my sister when we were both little. This song will always be very very close to my heart. I love you grandpa. R.I.P 06-01-2010
Lost my son in November at just 20.he had the most beautiful blue eyes. I always loved George Strait and this song hits me every time I play it which is most days. RIP son I miss you. God bless you George.
i dont want this guy to get old and eventually leave this world 'cause that would break my heart to million pieces ..just live man live forever if possible. !
My dad sang this to me when I was little and to all of my daughter's when they were little too. This song is very close to my heart and always will be.
Your Amazing! Growing up at the beach in San Diego most of my friends listened to New Wave and PoP music but I stuck to my guns and still 30 years later, I'm still getting my daily dose of George Strait!!
I lost my wife n son 8 months apart. It made me a better man as I know there are always people dealing with difficult challenges. It taught me empathy.
I'm grieving the loss of my Dog, Duke, who left too soon. When he was a baby he had the baby blue eyes. And I used to talk to him and say how I loved him when I first saw him and his eyes were baby "boo." 😢I miss him so much. This song just came into my heart, bc he never had a song. All my dogs have one song, especially when they pass. It helps me grieve. This one came on my heart today. I just knew the chorus, so I called it up right now. I miss you, Duke Angel Milagros, 12/9/2012-4/25/2023.
This song came out in 1988 the year I married my wife. It came out while we were engaged. It reminds me of her because her eyes were blue. She died 4 years ago. I know who holds "my baby blue" tonight. It's Jesus.
I had my fourth baby in December of 2021 and she was born with blue eyes. We sing this song to her almost every day. She loves this song. She always calm down to this song and falls asleep with this song . We love our baby blue baby.
I didn’t realize this song was about his 13 year old daughter who died in a car accident. I took a lot of grit for him to be able to perform this song, since it was about her. It is a beautiful song. Prayers for them and any parents who have lost a child.
I love this song. So smooth and so sweet. I am a full grown big burly all man. But this mans voice does something to me and goes right through me.........
There are have been alot of country singers over time. But George Strait is on another level. I have 2 daughters one is 22 and my other daughter is 14. Both with baby blue eyes. They will never know what they mean to me until they have their own children. Still here in 2020...
Jocelyn, when folks hear the music I choose for my pick list to listen to, it open many eyes. It brings back the memories of my childhood, the songs that some folks listen to many years ago. It mixes them with the songs of classic rock & mo-town that sung a generation of people to sleep on them long nights. It treasures back over the blue grass years & the days when gospel music was an inspiration. The love for music doesn't have no color, it has harmony & it sooth's the soul. Listen to your music with open arms, & grace your love with others, just as this song does, Strait From The Heart. I actually had folks I knew & didn't know stand outside my office at work, listening to something that they haven't heard in a long , long time.
Don't feel bad. I am melinated and love the hell out of country. My ringtones are country artist. I get funny looks all the time. I even had a black dude try to check me for listening to country but quickly I put him in his place.
Guilt free White man!! Yup. Your name checks out. You’re a clown! There’s idiots in every race, stupidity does not discriminate, especially in your case.
I have baby blue eyes, everyone tells me how beautiful my eyes are. Of course they change colors of blue, but when Im in a good mood they are baby blue, I sang this song along with George Strait on the radio. My mom said I could hear a song even if it started in the middle, I knew where it was and I could start singing, she said that to me on this song, not long before she passed. Thanks George for the memories.
My Daughter Jessica considers this her song. I've been singing it to her since she was three. I start my "set" on Karaoke nights with this song. Today is my daughter's twenty sixth birthday. Happy Birthday Baby Blue. Daddy loves you. :D
This is my daddy’s song to me. I almost died when I was a baby and that’s when this song came out. Makes my dad cry(and me) when it’s played ❤️❤️ I’m 26 but will forever be a daddy’s girl
May Jennifer Strait rest in peace this song just breaks my heart bc it was the song playing during my nieces car crash but at least her baby blue eyes are still shining with New life
Use to sing this song to my daughter when she was crying and hold her in my arms. Didn't really know the words, but I tried to comfort her. Wherever she's at I hope she knows I love her. Love ya kyanne
I'd like to think I'm a big fan but I had no idea he had a daughter who tragically passed away. This was always one of my favorite songs of his. As a father of 2 daughter's it brought tears to my eyes. I'm so sorry to George and his family! Man... we never know when it's our time. Love them hard and appreciate every moment we have together.
Always cry when listening to this song and wondering how would my little girl would looked if she didn't passed away when only 5 years. Had blond hair and baby blue eyes. My little angel! Still miss her so much. Thanks for your beautiful songs 🎵
This song is so soothing to my heart. George Strait is so sweet and I really find this song to be so beautiful and it reminds me of being out in the country in the field where the ground meets the 'baby blue' colored skies. This eases the stress, and this song really touches my hear!
my Dad died when i was five years old. I didn't really know him as much as i wish i could, but I know he's in a better place. A lot of George's songs remind me of him, which is one reason his songs hit me at a personal level. My dad was a great man, and I hope to be like him when I'm a father. R.I.P Dad (2-13-66 to 7-9-01)
I'm both saddened that you lost your daughter and happy that the song reminds you of the brief time you had to cherish her. May God bless and keep you, brother.
This song was written by Aaron Barker who made a CD of himself singing it and gave it to a friend. Through the grapevine, George Strait heard it, and asked if he could record it. Since then Strait has recorded several of Barker's songs including: "Love Without End, Amen."
Rest n 🕊️ paradise 💕 an my condolences to you an the straight family thankyou George for hanging on so long an blessings us with your soulful music 🎶 godbless!
My Papaw used to sing this to me when I was a little girl all the time. He has cancer and is on hospice at his home, everytime I lay my head down at night I think about this song and fight back the tears. I love him so much!
I remember my Dad used to sing this to me when I was little.... Whenever he was on the road and this song came on the radio, he would always cut off whoever he was talking to and say "Sorry, I"ll call you back, I have to listen to this song. It reminds me of my daughter." I miss you, Dad. I'll always remember you. Rest in peace.
Fell in love with this song while in Marine Corps AIT at Camp Pendleton. My buddy Chris Reed I trounced it to me at the E-Club. Have been a huge George Strait fan since then. OOH-RAH Chris
I can’t imagine losing a child. The wound in your heart never heals and the pain never goes away. The emptiness stays with you 24/7. But you go on living as the child would want you to do. It’s never goodbye, until you meet again. God’s promise.
This was my grandmas favorite song! She barely spoke any english but this was her song she knew all the words 😢 she passed away 2017 and i miss her everyday ❤
There is no words for mee to even begin to describe how much my heart goes out to you in your loss, but we are blessed to have had them, than not to even have had them at all, there are so many who don't get that blessing. You said it best Keep them in your memories.
"When she taught me how to care, I never cared so much, I try not to think of her but I fall asleep and do, I drift off where the grass is green and sky is Baby Blue" Pretty good Aaron, pretty damn good!
I hope you see your daughter in paradise soon. I wish you the best perspective in life with your beautiful 3 month child. I know you will see her again- Patrick Carrasco
We lost our daughter, Jennie, to cancer on April 3, 2023. She was 42. Hardest thing for parents to ever go through. You are forever in our hearts. We love.
There was this guy in my life. We were like the best of friends. We enjoyed many precious moments. However we were never ever able to be a couple. I asked him once if there was a song that made him think of me and this is the song he played. I don't have blue eyes but it was special to us!
I was never a singer, but I remember singing this song in the shower when I was 10 after discovering the album. I remember singing my lil heart away as tears washed away into the drain. TMI? Probably, but it is what it is.
+Daniel Landress I hear ya. My son, is 29 this year. His eyes were baby blue and I haven't seen him since he was 6 weeks old. :( This was my song for him from the moment I heard it.
Don't think it could be said any better. God bless you! I always think of what you said that things could always be worse. And if you think about your situation its not as bad as you think. I really think its great George dedicated this song in memory of his daughter. Such a beautiful song!
@George Strait your concert is the only one I ever paid for. What I mean by that is this… I worked as a manager for concessions at bob devaney center in Lincoln, ne. Worked since I was 16 I’m 57 now. We would come out and watch the performers warm up and do a sound check and meet you all. However, anytime you came to town and played, I paid as a fan. My one regret was missing that part of meeting you and possibly talking to you personally. However, you always was worth what I paid for if not more worth it! I’m thinking way back when, you’re the reason why I love country music! I went and paid for pure country at the cinema complex and even have it vhs and blu ray! I tend to watch it every year! I loved it back then, how your moral compass you didn’t kiss the girl! I’m suspecting sue to out of respect to Norma and your marriage. Mr Straight if I may address you..: good luck in your retirement and life. May you always have success and happiness in whatever you do with the rest of your life. god Bless and thank you for allowing me to a big fan of yours throughout the years.. you got me through my divorce (32 years with my ex) the last 5 years…. ❤❤
I remember 6 years ago when my grandparents died and I couldn't get the tears out of my system. I played this song over and over in order to force them out. This is such a wonderful song and always brings me back to the days my grandparents were alive. I miss them! My grandmother did bring colors to my life that my eyes never touched, and when she taught me how to care, I didn't care so much. I totally relate to this song..
Best singer ever; love you much George...May god have our loved ones who have gone to a better place; wrapped around his arms every time we think of them or play this amazing song.
This brings on so many memories. Someone just died who had baby blue eyes and this song makes me cry so much now but I'm glad he recorded it. It's perfect.
I used to sing this to my daughter when she was a baby… when I lay her to rest this Friday this will be played at her services . Thank you George Strait for writing this song.😢

This is one of those songs that reaches the hearts and souls of everyone. George Strait I was born in 88 and I've always loved your music since I can remember. Keep the great work up. I've actually visited your family home in Midland, Texas. It was awesome.
My daughter died in May of 1988, she was 3 months old. When I first heard this song I busted into tears and within the family it immediately became "Jennifer's song" as she had blounde hair and the most beautiful blue eyes ever, and we were from Colorado as well. I have lost a daughter, too. No parent should have to outlive their children.
I cried reading your comment. So very sorry.
Love it
@George Strait thank you for noticing my comment, sir. I have been a fan since your first hit. Since you first hit National awareness. I also love your movie, too. You could have made a career at acting, if you had wanted.
My heart breaks for you.....

This song is so soothing to my heart. George Strait is so sweet and I really find this song to be so beautiful and it reminds me of being out in the country in the field where the ground meets the 'baby blue' colored skies. This eases the stress, and this song really touches my hear!
Almost seams unfair that when can't hear this King's Voice as much as in the past, Hope he is Good. God bless.
my Dad died when i was five years old.
This was George's daughter's favorite song of his. Jenifer.Strait. RIP, little girl.
My, Father Rip founded the CMA of northwest Ohio grew up with country music
This was written about her after she died !!
My Papaw used to sing this to me when I was a little girl all the time. He has cancer and is on hospice at his home, everytime I lay my head down at night I think about this song and fight back the tears. I love him so much!
Hello Susan how are you doing!!
I remember my Dad used to sing this to me when I was little.... Whenever he was on the road and this song came on the radio, he would always cut off whoever he was talking to and say "Sorry, I"ll call you back, I have to listen to this song. It reminds me of my daughter."
I miss you, Dad.
This has ALWAYS been my favorite George Strait song. Thank u for such a great song.
This was my grandmas favorite song! She barely spoke any english but this was her song she knew all the words 😢 she passed away 2017 and i miss her everyday ❤
You can always spot how an artist influenced people by the comments on his song, this song deeply touched so many people.
There is no words for mee to even begin to describe how much my heart goes out to you in your loss, but we are blessed to have had them, than not to even have had them at all, there are so many who don't get that blessing. You said it best Keep them in your memories.

OH George- so sorry for your loss - God hold your baby blue she flying around in the great blue above
I loved country music ever since I was a kid. George Strait has always been my favorite country singer, with Alabama being my favorite band.
"When she taught me how to care, I never cared so much, I try not to think of her but I fall asleep and do, I drift off where the grass is green and sky is Baby Blue" Pretty good Aaron, pretty damn good!
I danced with my daughter to this song at her wedding.. going with her to see George at Rigley Field in a month to finally see him together.
@Fred Johnson I have a boyfriend. I'm not interested.
This was my song for him from the moment I heard it.
Stay strong beautiful.
Love this song. Thanks George that little one was special
I absolutely love this song... it was played as they lowered my sister into the ground....RIP MY BABY BLUE.....

Best singer ever; love you much George...May god have our loved ones who have gone to a better place; wrapped around his arms every time we think of them or play this amazing song.
I haven't listened to country in years. His voice brings back some great memories of the 80s. And that one video... The Chair? So yummy.
Baby blue is more yummy
This brings on so many memories. Someone just died who had baby blue eyes and this song makes me cry so much now but I'm glad he recorded it. It's perfect.
