As someone who naturally is put off by anime but watched the bulk of Deathnote anyway, I welcomed all the inaccuracies and streamlining. Infinitely more palatable for someone who hasn't steeped themselves in the cadence of translated import media. That's just me tho. Some people much prefer the flow of anime to western, subtext and implication heavy, stuff.
