Thanks a million for this video. I took my 2020 MB down the street to Pep boys because the dealer wanted 250 to diagnose the problem, 310 for the battery, and 100 to install it. Pep Boys wanted 286 for a comparable battery with a 36 month warranty, and 25 to install it. However, their top tech wasn’t sure how to install it. So we used the video to install it. Saved me over $300.
The side panel has two pull outwards little tabs and one of the same at the back. Out and up. Push towards the firewall for the one at the back but it won't move much because of that locating bolt at the front. But just enough and then up.
This is soooo ridiculous, people need to watch this before they buy these cars and if they buy one, before they scream at someone over the cost of working on them. Also why do these batteries only last 3-5 years? My lead acid has lasted up to 8
It was overtightened before and rounded inside the plastic part. Use a power tool set to loosen and spin it while pulling on the plastic cover and it should come out together. It's already lost its thread so there's nothing much else you can do.
@@rlong749 That didn’t help. I had to remove the battery and lower tray leaving the front cover attached. After which I had to jam the rotating threaded stud from the underside and remove the bolt. On inspecting, the bolt threads were damaged with a groove line running longitudinally. Fortunately it was a 60AH battery which was small and I could pry the front cover to remove the battery. Any larger and I would need to saw the front cover off to make way. Got a CEL which cleared by itself after about 3 to 4 cranks.
Finally a video detailed enough. Nobody mentions the reversed bolt. Thank you so much!

i swear these MB engineers couldn't have designed this any worse
Thank you for this thorough instructional. Made the change a lot easier!
Great tutorial. I wouldn't have been able to do it without you.
Thank you. Saved me a trip to the dealer.
They couldn’t build this any harder to get this damn battery out wow smh. Thank you for the vid tho!

Your help was invaluable, thank you
The side cover doesn't just pull out as in video starting at 1:45. There's something securing the side cover from being pulled out.
Thanks man. Could not figure out how to get that big box on top of the battery out. It was 8am on a Monday tho 😂

Thanks man! 👍🏿
Don’t these need reprogramming for the new battery?
No. It does not.
Hello! Do i have to reset the computer after switch the batteries?
do I need to re-register the battery ??
Saved me today, thanks!
Much better than MB WIS
Thanks mate
what an absolute shit show of a design.. big thank you to you for the upload and heads up.
Was gonna do this myself but after watching the video I think I’ll pass on that
The 10mm bolt holding down the front enclosure turns when I try loosening it, but doesn’t undo itself. Any advise?

That section to the side of the battery is a pain in the @$$
Two tabs you can feel at the bottom need to pull outwards. There is one at the back but it will free itself with a bit of movement
Well done bud, good video
Thank you,this really helped.
It is AGM 12 V e 760Ah? Grazie🇮🇪
Why do they make it so hard just to remove the battery?
Thank you mr.....i get it
Life saver
My car doesn’t turn on anymore 😔
Why??
Mine won't turn on either. Why was the fix?
Actually I just had to unplug the negative wire and plug it back in and it's all good. Hope this helps anyone that encounters the same issue.
@@darshanpatel9830shit mine didn’t start gonna try this
@@darshanpatel9830 I fried the computer 😂 Don’t tell Mercedes though. It was covered under warranty.
Wow.... so complicated... 😂
Took me an hour 😢
Completely ridiculous
