This brings back fond memories of my childhood. My oldest sister is about 12 years older than me and well I remember her making chocolate sauce to pour over breakfast biscuits. Not all of us kids wanted it that early in the morning, but she did and my middle sister did. When she married, (I was around 4), my middle sister took up the mantle. I'm afraid the tradition ended when that sister married and moved out. Even though I didn't have it very often myself, I loved to smell it cooking!!! Isn't is something how so many memories and emotions are attached to food? Thanks for sharing! I'll have to make this for old times sake.:)
These are the kinds of comments that bring a tear to my eye and a smile to my face. There are so many memories tied to food and many more to be created. Every-time I hear stories like this and your sister, it honestly makes my day. Thank you for sharing it, Karen. And have some chocolate drizzled biscuits for me! 😊🥰
You could! However if I were making it for drips, I would push the heat a little passed the 104 and hit 107 to get it a bit more thick but not too the syrup 110 as that is going to want to create ribbons more than drips.
Sooooooooo much better than store bought chocolate syrup by miles! I made this today to add it to home made ice cream. It's so good. I ask my sister if she still made this for breakfast, she stopped doing it when her kids came along. She didn't want them to get addicted to it. haha I can relate.:)
Haha, very wise mom your sister became! 🙂 It is great, isn’t it? That is too funny you made homemade ice cream! We did the exact same. I made a lot of batches of sauce to get the right texture for you all and to show sauce versus syrup so I was trying to figure out what to do with all of it. One of them, we added some ice cream to a container, drizzled in the syrup and gently added more syrup and made a fudge swirl. My husband said it’s wonderful. Another, I added the entire lot to a vanilla ice cream base and let it mix together. It made a great chocolate ice cream I was told. (I can’t eat any of it. 😭) Then I sent some with the no bake cheesecakes. 😂
@@Jacksonsjob That is some tremendous will power on your part not eating any of it. I can go for long stretches of time not eating any goodies at all then....all at once I gotta have it!🥳
If you want to feel any better, it’s less will power and more lactose intolerance. The little pills to help breakdown lactose only help so much. 😳🤭😭🤣 Now place a piece of fresh loaf of bread in front of me and it may disappear. 🥖😋😆
Congratulations! You know you’ve officially made great bread when the other half requests it. 🎊🎉🎈 I’m so proud of you and told you I had total faith in you. All you needed was a little guidance. 🥰😊😁

Oh you're very sweet! I will have to remember and ask my sis if she still makes this chocolate sauce for breakfast. Bet she does! :)
Haha, if she’s anything like my brother, probably so. He still pours sugar on kids type cereals. 🤣
Great idea for putting in cakes 👍👍👍.. could you use this for chocolate drip on cake? Sauce or syrup? ❤
