Also you mention ShimmeringSword who is in fact the one & only Anthony Scroggins someone we owe so much to for not just great art, but more importantly the beautiful miniatures!
Another great BT artist in the community who needs more recognition is Bishop Steiner. He's done freelance work for Catalyst, and I'm sure he welcomes commissions.
Thanks for the great vid! Some thoughts: IIRC Eldon is also working on the Graphic Novel, which is part of the Kickstarter too. Flyingdebris is Alex Iglesias, who is responsible for the redesigned Mechs of Mechwarrior Online as lead BattleMech Artist. His Art is part of the reason we got the unseen back (not counting the "reseen" there, sorry). With the upcoming launch of HBS Battletech the not-named company went for a lawsuit (again) but obviously couldn't pull it of this time. So there's the power of Art.
I was just looking at Hatchy's work this morning, as I was aiming to paint up a unit of Helpers to introduce to my campaign - her work always has a lot of energy and fun behind it.
Nice. I had a German artist design and create Hatchy's Helpers 3D prints, but the guy disappeared before I could pay him. It was incredible as well, he'd made a bespoke box with all her variant Mechs. Tragic it exists on some dudes desk in Germany and nowhere else 😐
@@duskhaunters3025 Damn! I would love to get a hold of 3D STLs for them. I was thinking of just printing some 'hats' to add to the 'mechs in my collection, but that would be so much better. I'd love to even just have 'bits' created to do some creative surgery on the CGL models.
@@JustinKase1969so sad, as he's spent so much time on them. Looked fantastic as well from the test print. Honestly, I'd have happily bank rolled dozens of prints and sold them at cost for people who wanted them.
Thanks for covering this topic. I'm not an artist by any stretch, nor do I collect it, but I absolutely do appreciate good work. Obviously Tex & The BPL with the help of folks like Eldonious has brought about a Renaissance of BT art. BigRed40Tech has also done a lot by commissioning pieces for his videos, posting teasers in the stream etc which I believe has also done a lot to bring attention to those that give us a modern visual representation of the BT universe. There are also others, but those are the two I hear artists or writers brought up the most or even brought into Red's streams. I've never followed an artist & especially for a game/hobby on social media until Red featured artists from CGL. Also between the KS livestream & podcasts featuring the artists & writers I've never seen so much excitement & appreciation for those who write & draw the content. Speaking of which Tex a few years back had George LeDeux on his podcast & they went through & critiqued some of the 80s & o0s artwork. There is a video so you can see how....interesting the art was & why we should be so grateful for the seriousness (even if in a fun way) of the art now.
The most recent BTA episode I uploaded to the WWGK youtube channel featured "Hatchy the Red" - a defective Hatchy clone who escaped the lab and now works as a merc in the Kaiju Korps, currently filling the role of Assault pilot. I was lucky enough to receive Hatchy's blessing on my expansion to her BT lore.
That sounds like fun :) I had drafted up a whole quest chain for Hatchy's Helpers years ago for the HBS Battletech game, but never got around to implementing it. I had added the LoreMercenaryHatchysHelpers.json, and linked it to some plot hooks with the Timeline mod (IIRC, it talked about the Helpers being dispatched to help contain an outbreak of Periphery Pox").
@@JustinKase1969 I officially added Hatchy's clone as an official member of the Kaiju Korps as a regular character in my BTA 3062 episodes going forward from the Season 2 opening episode. I run new ideas for the character by Hatch, because it's her sandbox - I'm only playing in it.
@@duskhaunters3025 Yeah, I added a few Lore bits to some of the mods I worked on - I think it was the Timeline mod that AMechWarrior had created and I initially populated with News reports. But I had a whole quest line of linked missions for HH that I never finished.
Thank you for this video. I didn't know that I needed that artwork of the Black Widow until you showed it. Done and ordered.

I love his work - another person who blends the old and new.
He does do commissions and does a lot of silly battletech sketches for fun as well

I would imagine that lone Griffin is a ComStar 'mech standing in a field on Tukkayid waiting for the big show.
YES! I like that...it's defo a ComStar or Star League mech

If I could have justified the $200 for that book I would have but I do feel the $50 version will get the job done for me. Great topic btw.
Thanks!
For a hot minute I was tempted by the $200 book...but then I came to my senses :P
Love the call out for @SirDubDub aka DC Bruins, creator of Freheit. A multi-talented artist for sure.
