I'm loving this new rating system. 3.5 out of 10 for this is perfect. That waist swivel design is unforgiveable in 2022.

While, of course, Deadly Genesis is an essential read for learning about Darwin, I would also recommend checking out "Uncanny X-Men: Rise and Fall of the Shi'Ar Empire". Thanks for the review, Dave.

I know people always bring up Deadly Genesis, but for me the big Darwin and Vulcan story is Rise and Fall of the Shi'ar Empire. Brubaker with the X-men playing in post Annihilation cosmic Marvel, so much fun.

To me, toys should be able to introduce us to what the character is and even its abilities. I dont know anything about Darwin but upon research it tells me that his powers is to survive by adapting his environment and situation. The figure tells nothing of that. At an eye test, all I see is an alien with an x-men logo
I agree I think I woulda have liked perhaps alternate webbed hands and like a head with gills or something
@@chiokec there's so much more to him then a Guy that turns into a fish. The problem is, most of his abilities don't really "show" and the difference in appearance is often so small, it wouldn't really stand out if they did include it. How would you Translate his ability to withstand fire by making his skin wet & oily. A shinier headsculpt & hands? I really like the look of this figure. The build could be much improved, that is true
@@n_explosion8199 yeah I get that. fish was just the first one that popped into my head because of First Class and that it would be one of the easier ones to visualize. definitely a wider array of accessories would be great, though.
His power is to change to survive. They could have given him anything as an accessory and it would make this guy better. Hands with claws, head with gills, wings for the peghole on his back... all three for super survivor mode. He's a legit candidate for a deluxe figure. Or he could have been a BAF and the others in the wave would come with accessories.
Shame they went so basic.
The Darwin skit at the end is the best part of the video. Well done sir
I've just ordered my copy and honestly can't wait to get it. I think he looks amazing (hip swivel excluded) . The face sculpt is spot on and the body fits perfectly.

The character of Darwin is really cool, from start to finish. The figure looks exactly like it should. He just gets more muscular as the story progresses. This is a good representation for his first appearance. The X-Factor design has a little more to it, but I don't really car about X-Factor Darwin. I want deadly Genesis Darwin and this is him. I agree they should have given him a new bodymold to make him a more interesting purchase , but mine arrives next week and I Cant wait

I've been feeling like I'm all alone in this losing war of opinions lol . I love this character, I think his ability is one of the more interesting in the X-Men. I fully agreed with all your points including that fact that he definitely could have come with some effects or another head sculpt but I still think they nailed this character. Anyway again thank you for your comment you put into words what I could not . Hope your doing well my friend

X-Men: Deadly Genesis comic. Vulcan, Darwin and a few others where the first X-men team Charles sent to their death lol. Two missing from that team though! Wonder will we get them Sway and Petra to finish the set or a BAF of Krakoa.
I would love a Krakoa BAF, but he's larger than a Rancor. It'd have to be a Haslab or some sort of premium figure like MODOK or something.
I wonder what a Skrull head would look like on this body? Turn the belt around and maybe it’d be a good Skrull?

We can blame Hasbro for picking this character. There are a ton of characters to chose from, but they pick this one. And now we have to pay here $25.99 for a figure that only comes with fists and a BAF part. Whoopee!! There are way more characters with powers and personality with accessories. Just my opinion...
I can see a new x-men team member , ladies and gentlemen introducing "The Prober".
He has such a unique powerset that could have been included as accessories. But no. We get a below average figure.
I look at this release and Speedball...very similar set ups, except Speedball doesn't come with any extra hands or his speedball 🤦🏾♂️
Wow I could I it! This headsculpt makes a great custom for a Green Goblin head or a William DaFoe head!

An x-cellent review as any other, Dave. Darwin's theory of evolution.......perhaps........I still applaud Hasbro for giving us new figures. I'll eventually buy the Bonebreaker wave a figure at a time.
The score is accurate. I think scoring these figures should be like diving and gymnastics. The degree of difficulty should be the base score, and then subtract points away for execution if needed.

This is just truly my pick for 'Worst Figure of the Year!' Only way I would buy him is on clearance! And I would use him as some kind of Alien Villain! Oh David, as much as I make fun of my kids, there was nothing like them. And yes, I love my girls to death, but my son, ah, teaching him to shoot, hunt, fish, playing with toy Soldiers, then Action Figures! My grandson is just a baby, but a couple more years and I'll have that with him too! Yeah, girls are precious, but they are why Dad's go Bald! You want them to have a Police guard 24/7 and smack any boy that comes within 10 feet! LOL
Definitely a very high contender. Viper might have him beat though
Also, apologies for mentioning fatherhood. I forget that you are 40 and I'm sure you don't want them. I also started a bit later than normal, almost 30, but there is a difference in energy and patience level. At 40, you want QUIET! 😃😆😁🤠😎😄😀

He is no diddler. Darwin is a scholar and a gentleman. Lol I'm the one guy who loves this character/figure I guess. I'm at about 70 figures in my collection (mostly marvel legends) and outta all of them Darwin would place somewhere in the top 10 lol (they funny thing is I'm more partial to the bigger boys like Ursa Major, Ulik, Immortal Hulk, retro Thing you get the point. Hope your having a great sword . I still hold your opinion with honor and respect (all jokes aside your always impressing me with your Marvel knowledge) even though your hating on boy Darwin

Diddler lol haha, that face will be in our nightmares, Worst ML in history, Not needed to be made, who wanted this?? They could have giving us (because they like re-use and re-paints) Mimic is unfcking real, and a classic villain and I believe never been made
