oooh i've never been this early! personally i've been trying to ''let go'' of difficult products or products that don't spark joy instantly...life's too short to struggle with makeup when there's so many good things out there
I’d love to know how the preschool ladies liked everything! My son’s gf is a behavioral therapy tech for children on the autism spectrum and I love spoiling her with alllllll the goodies. She’s so important to her families and our communities. 🥰 I have as much (maybe more) fun seeing the thrill my sharing gives others! Self-serving and service ;)
That lip color on you looks like a neutral peach on you, especially from the original. Adding the pink purple partly muted the orange and have the color more of a pinky peachy beige. It’s so pretty! And the eye look is so beautiful, I love how that grey looked on you!
The eyeshadow color you ended up with reminds me sooo much of Mac Satin Taupe, which was all the rage in the early/mid 2000s! See also: Makeup Geek Prom Night, Wet n Wild Nutty, and L'Oreal Bronzed Taupe. Love it! ❤ I still have those, plus a few other variations, in my collection. It's a great color, really!
I've been meaning to comment on this!! That pallet REALLY speaks to me. I think it would on my skin. This goes into color theory. I feel like anyone who has very bright, and neutral-cool coloring will look really great in the colors of that pallet. , you have so much gorgeous muted golden warmth in your skin, hair, and eye complexion that it is no shock that warm colors REALLLYYY make you shine, while these saturated colors may feel like they're stealing the show. On my skin tone, I feel very comfortable, and the most beautiful when wearing highly saturated colors, but gray and muted colors wash me out. Thus, I always avoid wearing too many earth tones at once. This applies regardless of where someone is situated on the skin color depth continuum. The palest of pale skin and the most ebony of ebony skin can still look really great in highly saturated colors; it just depends on the brightness of their undertone.
I have the athr moonlight palette and I tend to use those weird beautiful unusual shades as a one and done color. Or I might use a neutral base from another palette to bring out the bright shades. I find it pretty hard to put together a multi color look just from the palette, so I just lean into the strange colors when I use it. I have a fair neutral skin tone and can go warm or cool, but I usually prefer warm eye looks. The palette is fun bc of the unique colors when I want to get a different look!
I love love love this video! Watching you play with makeup and explain your thought process and color theory is so delightful! Thank you for being you, beautiful lady! 🤎
I do best with eyeshadow palettes that are almost all cool toned. I can handle some neutral toned browns or muddy colors, but any warm shadow looks out of place on my skin. I preferred the amethyst pallete the most!
Aaaaahhh yes about Andrew Bird!!!! I love REMEMBERING Andrew Bird after a while. Personally, I find that his music transcends time and memory association in my life. Like how most music can transport you to the period in your life when you fell in love with it - I find that Andrew Bird’s music is among the few that just exist and it penetrates my nervous system the same beautiful way every time. Its like a rehoming. ❤️❤️❤️
I have very cool undertones. All I used to wear was cool toned make up to complement that and my blue eyes. Usually it would be like a silvery purple or a grungy greenish grayish. A couple years ago I started wearing warm tones and was completely shocked at how much I actually liked how it looked on me. I literally had never gone that route until I was in my mid-30s because the cool tones basically make me look dead now
I was in T.J. Maxx recently and saw the Moonlight palette for $9.99, so I grabbed it because I have never bought an ATHR palette before. Didn't have a clue as to what the colors were and when I opened it I thought, WTF! Now, I am a makeup lover and have wayyyyy too much product for the mere mortal I am plus I am in my sixty's, so I'm now way over my head. I dipped my toes into the palette and used the same color you choose first which I kinda like, but I quickly became lost about what to do next. Help! L.O.L.
I think you look beautiful! Imo you are wearing taupe! Taupe is such a great color for me. Not weird at all. 😆. I think taupe may be subjective like bronze. I saw no bronze in Natasha Denona’s bronze palette. It’s copper to me but she is the expert! Thank you for recognizing this palette is for someone. I want companies to keep making palettes like this. I am cool, pink in fact! My hair is mousy brown with a lot of grey in the front 😳. It’s not entirely for me since I am a natural makeup wearer (love the rose quartz OG!) and there is no neutral crease shade. I think it could have used a mauve and a cool toned brown or a matte taupe so it’s not a complete palette for me but I love the 4 light lid shimmers! I’ll wear the two darkest colors as liner and that’s about it. I ended up depotting it. It’s the easiest palette I have ever depotted and the pans are magnetic. I actually prefer the band closure. Anyway, I can wear all cool but I need some warmth too to make me look alive and healthy! I can not wear all warm tones though. Neutral looks best (neither warm nor cool, very hard to find!) I’ve never found a cool toned blush that looks good on me. I think Natasha Denona did a great job with Glam. It’s not too cool. It’s pretty neutral. Have a nice weekend!! 🤗
Yeah, I couldn’t have been the only person who was like “Teal gray??? Girl that’s a very slightly purple leaning taupe. You wear that kind of color all the time? What are you talking about?” And I own that palette! I know what it looks like in person! It is in no way teal. Well not the shades she used.
@@goldenllama thank you. I looked that blush up and it’s gorgeous!!! I tried to find a place to buy it but I could not. I think it may be discontinued. 😔. Thanks for the recommendation.
I have VERY fair, neutral cool skin with green eyes. Warmer colors tend to look terrible on me; they make me look ill. That “gray” eyeshadow would probably be my favorite! Actually, ALL the colors in that ATHR palette look awesome. Why don’t I own it already? 😂 Edited for typos. 🙄
I’m having the same thought. Cool neutral skin , very fair, with blue eyes, and I have always passed on the Moonlight palette. But I think I need it now.
If I recall correctly, I mentioned it to HLP in the past, but having it, I think it translates more pink on my skin than the color in the pot. I kinda bump into the same thing that Kackie sees, but on my more muted neutral (I can look greyish,) coloring, it matches the superficial redness I have, which peeves me slightly.
@@srkra_ Me too! I think about 'old gum' on the daily, and am constantly looking out for the color. It's funny how little things like this can replay in your mind.
I love these sorts videos, but then I do love all ur vids lol, there are so many products you can use for multiple purposes aswell like using CT oyster pearl as conture or another I found, using those foundation mixer drops as a bronzer, because of the thin consistency it works well♥️ otherwise things just sit there all wasteful in my drawers. Xo
I was literally JUST hoping you’d try a less dramatic/not totally blue eye with this ATHR palette. So glad you did. I mean I paused the video…I haven’t seen the result yet…could turn out terrible. But glad you’re giving it a go lol.
I thought this was beautiful from pretty early on, I don't see it as "weird" at all! It puts me oddly in mind of a gorgeous duochrome shadow, where it's pulling two fairly disparate shades together in a way that just makes sense? I want that Aether palette just to try to accomplish this now! I'm also going to swatch lipsticks looking for that lipcolor in a single formula from now until the end of time Edit: okay woahhhh just looked at the shade descriptions for the Aether palette online to see if I could find dupes for just the two you used, since most of the palette won't work on me, and they are... not what I expected? Moon Dust and Full Moon are the ones you used, and they're described as "silver metallic" and "lilac-peach duo-chrome shimmer" respectively. I'm obsessed...
I think the final lip color is beautiful on you, although I didn’t mind the peach. I enjoy this kind of video as it’s fun to watch you play with makeup outside of your preferences and see what kind of look you come up with.
Oh my gosh! This is exactly the video I was hoping for! I just found that ATHR palette, and I love the practices of the brand so much. It's fun to have such a unique palette in my collection. I've always used mostly warm tones but I'm letting my hair go gray and having fun with how cool colors work on me now.
i loveeee when music gives me the chills, and it’s rare that it happens, but that moment is unexplainable. i reallllly want to get the rose quartz palette along with the moonlight crystal palette. i loveeee cool tones and i want the ND glam eyeshadow palette soooo badly. i have a very cool undertones, and i think you look gorgeous with cool toned eyeshadow. i love the revlon colorstay cream eyeshadows. sneaky balm is on my wishlist for sure along with the contour and a few blushes. yesssss, we need a cool toned nude lipstick from hindash!!! that lip color turned out to be stunning. 💙💙💙
I have the eye palette also. I found it at tjmaxx and was happy to find it but then realized it's the pallette than nobody really liked. This was fun to see. Honestly I think it all turned out great on camera. Once you put the eye brows I thought, oh you just needed brows!
I have this palette. The funny thing is, every foundation/complextion product I buy is the same tone as you. But I LIVE for purples and cool tones and love this palette so much for those shades. You always say they look bad on you. I think they look great! (but maybe I'm biased since they look the same on me haha).

So I have the moonlight palette, and I have olive skin, and idk ive never even used it because every time I wanted to try it, I just couldn't come up with a look that I actually like😶

I bought one of the Christmas palettes from hourglass in 2020. I was very sad when it didn't make me look like a goddess, and more like a really glittery bath bomb. I still can't make myself get rid of it because they coat so much.
I’m not your skintone (a bit darker and olive) but since I made the experiment this winter I’ve been loving pairing cooler eye looks with peachy lipsticks (is velvet intrigue peachy? Is the peachiest/mod-est thing I own). So when I saw your finished look I got reminded and I’m glad you arrived to the same conclusion I did, because frankly I know too little about how makeup works on someone else’s skintone to say “go do this it’ll look great”. But yeah grey(cool)+peach and bronze(warm)+pink are my eye+lip combos and my makeup routine has gotten so much easier now that I don’t have to deliberate for 20min about what blush goes with what eye look goes with what lipstick… until I play myself and use something that doesn’t fall in those categories 😂😂😂
Difficult products offend me! Is it just me or did Dior amp up the fragrance in their backstage line this past year? In their original launch it had almost no fragrance, completely wearable. Now their products make my eyes swell shut and the smell is pervasive. Super bummed about it because I loved their face products. Btw Glossier Futuredew + Dior Backstage foundation = perfect.

I also know that you express discomfort with certain colors, even though many of us think you can wear them. I suspect a bit of that feeling was going on with you. Also, I like the more gradient cheek color as the blush and bronzer as they reached the hollow of your cheek. That combo gives a ski tan or snorkeling look - you know how some faces can look by being out all day with goggles on. That’s what the face colors bring to mind. Very outdoorsy!
