Can’t wait to watch your videos about your Long Trail thru-hike! Can you share how you prepare for it? I’m planning to hike the Long Trail in a few years! Well before I turn 50!! My first thru-hike!!

I'll likely be doing one live stream a month in May, June and July to go over various things for my Long Trail thru-hike (including prep) and to have an active conversation with the community. Mostly, I've been doing trail runs, and flexibility and core muscle focused exercises to get physically ready. I'm also working on various mental exercises that'll hopefully help me get through those inevitable moments of doubt and wanting to quit. The mental work has proven to be more difficult for me, but I do feel like I'm making good progress!

Yeah man good to see you out again! Life throws you lemons lol mountains rather. I live in wilton and hike alot too. I guess their opening a new section soon on mt mcgregor. The western ridge trail is fun and they are paving lake bonitas parking lot. You know they are fun local hikes but the dack's are callin! I did hurricaine mtn/ fire tower last year finally! Was awesome! I myself try to stay outta the high peaks but been wanting mt Marcy! I gotta get it done this year! You ever want to hike with another guy let me know? Im always down! Hike on man!
I've got a few more High Peaks to finish that list, and then I'm likely to stay mostly out of the Route 73 corridor for a while myself. Lots of excellent hikes that don't see much love, and those are the ones I'm interested in exploring more.
Apologies are not necessary, Jay. We all have issues that interfere with our creative lives. My mother is quite elderly and that has been emotionally consuming.

@@JayMorrisonOutdoors I did the first section out of Williamstown last July, so I'll be starting just north of Rte 9 this year. Hope your knees are in good shape... the stone "stairs" at the end of the first section (just south of Rte 9) are *intense*.

Not yet, but it's 100% happening this year ... I've been trying to get it done for the last couple of years but various things threw those plans out the window ... 2022 is the year though, and I'm super excited!
Never failed...my pup would find the most disgusting thing in a park and roll in it! The towel in the car was mandatory. Hope the challenges are the temporary annoying kind not the serious ones. Summer is coming, sports seasons slow down and boys choose their school and major. Real life is always more important than you tube.
I was surprised she didn't get any muddier, honestly, but the car towel is 100% always on hand when we get back from a hike ;)
