Centerstand and Kickstart and good range comfort and mpg, $ 1999 new in 78 at Good Times Kawasaki in Olympia Washington. I had five KZs and they are easy to work on and durable, that bike came in third in Castrol 6hr race againts big bikes litre bikes. They also used the heads on the GPZ 750 turbo.
Had this exact model/colour. In 1992 It had 68000 miles Still on the original clutch. Never broke down... The engine was of a higher Engineering quality than the z900.
I think it is time I started to rebuild my two old b1s, which were put to pasture when I blew the cranks back in '84 & '91. Vids. such as this do inspire, so thank you, the problem is I already have my old GPz9, ZX10b2 & sub 9000 mile FZR1000R on the operating tables. Some crash injuries stop you from riding, some stop you from employment but if I have to be forceably retired I always have the old bikes I kept to keep me from insanity. Maybe it is the only silver lining on that cloud but hey, I've got two z650b1 resurrections to look forward to but in Candy Emerald Green. Your z650 is a lovely example, thank you for sharing.
Swap those front forks around so the caliper is behind the fork --- it keeps the brake pull to the left down to handle-able limits at very high speeds.
That is a beautiful specimen. Looking to buy one if I can find one at right price. Retro’s are just so cool. I’ve 2 katanas, a nice CBR1000f and a GSX1400. This looks totally mint and original.

Thanks for posting this - I'm currently assembling a box full of bits into a bike and the close up detail is really helpful

Beautiful bike, one of the ones that I planned on getting at the time but it never happened, thanks for sharing!
