    I was there that night. Now rewatching in 2024. Portnoy back in the DT mothership and me hoping the stars will align one day once again and this five fine gentlemen will have the opportunity to gift us with wonderful music just like the Cosmic Symphony

    I always looked at this song, with it being at the end of the album, as Mike and Neal's way of saying, "don't worry, guys, we didn't forget prog!" lol

    That third act is some of the most sincere lyrics written, and the way he sings them through the crowd with Steve's guitar in between

    The pound for pound part really should be its own song. It's just too good to be hidden within a longer piece.

    Muse? Very similar groups. These guys have more of a jazz/funk finish versus Muse's metallic/techno finish.

    I'm not here to be popular. It is a masterpiece. Such a great song, such a great Morse performance, but it's such a SHIT that there are only white people in the audience. That needs to change.

    • @MrEirey
      @MrEirey 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Really curious about your plans on fixing this. Target ad for black audience, promoting prog rock? You realise you can't tell other people what they should listen to, right? What about the fact that 80%+ in the audience are men? Shall we attract more women? (I've been to more than 6 Dream Theater concerts, again, the vast majority of visitors were men).
      Sometimes I really wonder what is going on in minds of TH-cam commenters...

    • @PedroSantos00
      @PedroSantos00 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      False correlation between the number of people in the audience and the number of people who consume this music in other ways. When we blacks talk about representation, we are talking about opportunity for access, whether to the audience, whether to tickets, whether to the city where the presentation took place and even the country.
      I hope I have killed your curiosity

      @@PedroSantos00 Try looking beyond this new woke culture. Looks like you never lived in London and probably never visited. I am sure you won't believe my words (as someone who lived there), so I will just give you some 2011 census ethnicity stats (2021 not ready yet). These are ethnic proportions of London inhabitants:
      White: 59.8%
      Black/African/Caribbean/Black British:13.3%
      census.gov.uk
      Let it sink.
      Now, what do you think should be a "fair" representation of black people on prog concerts based on these stats? 13.3%? 50/50?
      You see, things become clear when you engage logic and facts. Needless to say, none of my black friends even like progressive rock (mostly prefer Rap, RnB, Jazz etc. - it is big part of their culture after all). I also mentioned women for a reason - only few of my female friends like progressive rock and you will see they are also underrepresented in live performances of prog bands (inb4 I am slapped with another argument related to gender pay gap :D)
      Not denying that there is still room for improvement when it comes to social inclusion for black people in London (and UK as a whole), but situation is much, much better than US, Brazil or even in Europe.

    • @PedroSantos00
      @PedroSantos00 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrEireyNo. The statistics on the number of inhabitants by ethnicity do not yet match the video image. I tried, but I didn't find ONE black in the audience. Also, I cited the city and country not to criticize your country's inclusive policies, my criticism is global. Nor will I quote the Brazilian statistics because the method is already quite questionable, totally based on self-declaration, in an underdeveloped, under-educated, extremely racist country like Brazil, self-declaration is even a joke. I will stick to the criticism I made at the beginning and sustain it, there is no black in the audience and that is regrettable.

    • @MrEirey
      @MrEirey 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PedroSantos00 I explained you why you wont see many black people on a PROG concert in LONDON. I've been to 50 Cent's concert in London - PLENTY of black people (probably almost half of o2 arena!). Using your flawed logic, I could also criticise lack of white people on various music concerts in African cities (e.g. Lagos, Nairobi, Dar Es Salaam etc)?
      "I will stick to the criticism I made at the beginning and sustain it, there is no black in the audience and that is regrettable." Start a campaign then, find ways to promote prog rock among black population of London, may be you will get somewhere.
      Turns out you are here to be popular, good luck mate.
