    Marlon Brando LOVED the bar scene. In fact, when he met Eddie, he practically fawned over him, quoting the bar scene virtually word for word. Needless to say, Eddie's mind was blown by this revelation.

    Fun fact: handguns actually have pretty poor accuracy. It's rifles that are made for accuracy and range), handguns are more closer range. So shooting someone in a moving target with a heavy revolver while in a bus that sways back and forth is hella hard. Only thing that isn't realistic is the bullets not going through the cars and walls.
    Edit: Walter Hill, who directed this, was basically *THE* action movie director. Heck, he even made a musical (Streets of Fire, which is a weird, gonzo experience with cheesy oneliners, retro 50's style everywhere, good yet corny music and also a sledgehammer duel). he withdrew a bit from movie-making after the studio slaughtered his sci-fi movie Supernova (so badly he even had them put a fake name for the director, "Thomas Lee"), but he was basically the head of classics like The Warriors, 48 Hours, Brewster's Millions (the Richard Pryor one), Red Heat...

    Well then you definitely need to watch Another 48 hours, Beverly Hills cop 1 & 2 for sure...you can watch 3 if you like but it's not as good as the first two and then The Golden Child. These films were during the time before Murphy had children. Soon as he started raising a family he felt he needed to stop doing the adult oriented films.

  • @trodat07
    @trodat07 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Hey, the movie is harsh and totally not PC but it has some balance in it. Eddy pulls some far fetched "black dude beats and lectures white sups" moments and he also gets worded back; he'd look like an entitled Mary Sue or a racial punching bag without that balance. You don't see that maturity in movies these days.

    I had enjoyed this movie when I first saw it on VHS. Eddie and Nick are a force to be reckoned with. Originally, the producers were going to pair Clint Eastwood and Richard Pryor together as the copand con, respectively. Also, the part of "Reggie Hammond" was originally named "Willie Biggs." Murphy had insisted on the character's name being changed, because it was too stereotypical.

    On a side note : Khiel (the cop) was a replicant (cyborg) in the movie Blade Runner. The girl in the Bar Eddy wanted to have sex with was in the epic series Miami Vica, she played Trudy. At the beginnng the guy who shot at Nick and his partner was in Band of the Hand a moive by Michael Mann (1985) also a good watch ! The other ganster was in Predator, play!ing the indian soldier.
    I'm new to your channel. I like the way you're totally in the movie and appreciative of the 80s era. It was different times back then. Somewhat more gritty, raw and authentic. Also it was a cross roads of times, where residues of the 50s, 60s, 70 and 80s collided in this wonderful chaotic way. And we were living in the best days of color tv without CGI... Every decor, costume, screen magic.. it all had to be created in real time.
