I'm really happy with my Xperia 1 V. To add to this video there is a cinema camera app as well as the photo and video pro modes. This mode records in 21:9 aspect ratio with different color profiles as "Venice" etc. The main wide 24 mm sensor is superb. Add some lenses and Nd filters and I'm going to shoot some short films. Waiting for my beastgrip pro.
I used to have a 5 iv. Really enjoyed every moment of photographing and the notch-less screen. I've got no Sony camera but I loved how the manual mode worked. I sold it cos the software was terrible. I couldn't even finish listening to a complete song when chatting. The music app got constantly killed in the background when using another app. But sony does have its own charm.
New subscriber. Excellent video. Which type of ND filter is that on your Xperia in this video? You might want to consider putting an afiliate link for it in the description.
Switching over from the Z Fold 4 to the Xperia 1 V. Have had every single flagship Samsung has ever produced going back go the Galaxy S7 Edge. A bit nervous but am hella excited to get my hands on this thing!!
I have a 1 III. I bought it as one of the last premium phones with a headphone jack, and I was surpised by the quality of the camera system I stopped carrying my Nikon DSLR around in my bag
Just got mine two weeks ago, love it, and I’m a lifelong iPhone user 🙈 - same questions as everyone else, do you have affiliate links to the hot shoe mount adapter and ND filter mount?
The phone clamp (holder) that you are using in this review is covering the edge buttons in the middle. One of them is the power button with the integrated fingerprint reader. Did the clamp press down on that button, and how did you manage to bypass the fingerprint reader if the phone went to sleep.
Heya! Thank you so much! I finally found someone who has the answer to 'will the phone b-roll footage match a Sony mirrorless camera'. In your opinion do you reckon it will still need an ND filter and a mist filter? I usually carry around a huge a7siii setup but I'll be going to a theme park soon and it won't be ideal carrying such a large rig around. I'm torn as I like doing cinematic videos during my travels and I'm not sure if the footage from the Xperia 1V is suffice for areas like theme parks. It would be awesome to get your opinion. Love your vid! Keep it up!
It all depends on your own preferences for 180° shutter angles, but if you like S-Cinetone and don’t mind an ND solution, it’s such a good little setup for that.
@@benjhaisch Thanks so much for replying! Is there perhaps an ND filter setup for the 1v that you would recommend? I'm actually keen to get a mist filter too to have more consistency with the main cam footage.
@@shaunashleychin I actually have a video about it hopefully coming up, but I adapted a Moment 67mm VND with their cinebloom on this mobile adapter. Made for iPhone, but still works. geni.us/QvCm7
How did you get that big purple filter to stay on the sony xperia 1 v I have the 1 V and id like to buy some accessories for it can you show them in a video
Please tell Sony to upgrade its software camera drivers, in manual mode the burned/colored pixels are everywhere mostly at low shutter speeds. The LED torch for video shooting in dark places is soo low (in photo flash is good). Same for 1mk4 and its crap front bokeh that is at a 100$ device price quality. Please!
@@benjhaisch I’m sorry I’m not understanding what you mean about the cameras… so they are good or bad for simplicity haha. And yeah I’ve been on iOS since 12 Pro Max released. The main justifications for this were the secondary monitor features and live-streaming with Sony Alpha cameras directly from phone. Regardless thanks for the video.
For sure, I just meant that many people just can’t escape the Apple ecosystem, but as a purely dedicated tool to pair with Sony cameras, it’s an easy win.
Amazon, or ebay/ any site that accepts paypal, with paypal all putchases are fraud proofed up to 5 grand, i myself have been frauded and let paypal know they direct deposited the stolen funds back into my account within 2-4 business days of me reporting the fraud, they then go after the frauder for the money, you dont have to do anything so really even if the deals seems to good to be true, you have nothing to lose if paypal is accepted other than a few days inconvenience of not having thr funds that were frauded
Fwiw, no sponsored video can objectively be a “review” but this is more of my thoughts and use of it. The nice thing about videos like this is that is essentially also funds the justification of other videos as well. TH-cam doesn’t pay me enough to make these videos actually worthwhile, so I’m thankful when an opportunity to show something interesting comes along that also can pay the bills.
Do you actually believe that all other "reviews" you see on big channels like Marquis Brown, Mrwhosetheboss, Unbox therapy etc.....are not paid for through free products and access? Those guys are all way worse because none of them are upfront about what they doing......which is essentially marketing. At least on this channel he is upfront about it being sponsored. And he isn't reviewing it. He is simply talking about his experience with it.
Bad side about this piece of shit phone is the update support sony will update 1 to 2 years, stupid move for a really awesome internals used specially in the camera Just buy Pixel 8

Impressive quality for a phone, very complimentary to Sony's Alpha cameras

Hi, great video!
How are you able to attached the ND Filter to the 1 V at 0:51 ? What clip are you using?
Also interested please ! Is it the moment 67mm clip one ?
Yep!

Ok you just convice me to get this phone. Best review by far. Thank you. Greetings from Mexico.

Hello
Thank’s to nice review. What filter adapter and phone hot shoe holder you use ?
I recently got the Pro i and now wondering if I should get the 1V or wait on the Pro i 2
Seems like a great phone/camera to have in your pocket. How do you think it stacks up to a Pixel or an iPhone's auto mode in particular?
Great review mate. Thanks for sharing 🙏
These review is too good!

The external monitor app works with any HDMI input using my HDMI out on the DJi RC2 controller?

It doesn’t press on the fingerprint reader. I disabled the password security and used the shutter button if needed, but often left it on.
@@benjhaisch thanks, I will have to do that when I use a gimbal
Where'd you get the hotshoe mount for phone? Thought you'd mention it in the description.
@06:23 what are you using for lens ? / filter ??
Great job mr.
I love it

I keep coming back to this video to see if I really want this phone. I’m on the fence with iPhone 15 releasing a month from now.
I think it almost just comes down to operating system. The cameras in the Xperia 1V really doesn’t leave much to be desired for a mobile device.

Hi.
How did you show live stream mode on your fx3?
You can get to the live stream mode with USB-C or a direct send from the HDMI
What is the actual optical zoom on this phone, 5x 10x?
its a moving lens allowing 3.5x - 5.2x whole range real optical zoom
Really want it, maybe should waiting for 3 years or more 😂
