this is one of the most beautiful songs ive ever heard. after five years, im still not over it, and i will never be. this song brings a warm, whimsical, christmasy feeling to to the listener. its magically orchestrated, like something you would hear in an old disney movie. the lyrics being a dark story about two kids freezing to death only add to the brilliance. kikuo has definitely improved since this came out, but to me this will always be one of his best songs

"Spinning spinning the painful trembling is kindly" Her spinning is probably her feeling disorientated/swaying in the water, the trembling is her shivering. "Letting me sleep comfortably" Another symptom in hypothermia is drowsiness, and generally if you fall asleep when you have severe hypothermia, that means you are on the verge of death. Could also just mean she's dying, not sure. This song is just so sad, it makes me feel guilty for listening to it.

I just realized why this song sounds so happy even though it’s about two kids dying of hyperthermia. It’s because the kids see their death as a good thing. They realized that since they died they could stay together forever which they see a pro and not a con.

They both are gone. 3:28 "The disappeared couple cannot be found anywhere, at the very bottom of the universe, they are together forever!" It's this shot (1:39) that paints the clearest picture for me about what the song is really about. The kid looking at the Moon from afar can also be interpreted as him sinking into the lake as he looks at the girl who can only look at him sinking deeper and deeper through the same hole he fell in, therefore looking like the Moon from his pov. When you look at the shot with that in mind, it honestly looks terrifying, specially seeing the Moon get further and further away from you while being unable to do anything but float away.
I know this song is hella sad and disturbing, but the melody is so beautiful, and Kikuo ended his show in Buenos Aires with this song, confetti, and ballons (and hoshi-kun dancing in stage lol) ; it was such a good closure to his magical show, and now I want to cry everytime I listen to this song. It may be for the meaning of the song, or because I want to experience once again that amazing concert's ending, or maybe it's a mix of both!

雪山で遭難した男女がいて、洞窟の中で女の子が低体温症で動けなくなってしまう。それを見かねた男の子が助けを求めて外を探索。吹雪の中で崖から落ちて身体がぐちゃぐちゃになって死んでしまう。

this is one of the most beautiful songs ive ever heard. after five years, im still not over it, and i will never be. this song brings a warm, whimsical, christmasy feeling to to the listener. its magically orchestrated, like something you would hear in an old disney movie. the lyrics being a dark story about two kids freezing to death only add to the brilliance. kikuo has definitely improved since this came out, but to me this will always be one of his best songs

"Letting me sleep comfortably" Another symptom in hypothermia is drowsiness, and generally if you fall asleep when you have severe hypothermia, that means you are on the verge of death. Could also just mean she's dying, not sure.
This song is just so sad, it makes me feel guilty for listening to it.

0:02 Bottom left corner. Two children fall into the lake.
0:22 "And then I crumbled and fell apart, and the moon fell into the open hole." The frozen lake cracks underneath of them; the boy falls in first, looking up at her, imagining that she is the moon in the night sky as he stares up at the hole they fell in. Eventually she falls into the hole as well.
0:40 "She's swaying" He is watching her sway above him in the water after snow falling caused the lake underneath of them to give way.
0:52 "Spinning, the maddened Yuki-onna is spinning" Yuki-onna is a snow witch in Japan who is said to hold children and weigh them down with ice and snow until they freeze to death. The spirits are restless because she knows that she is going to have both of the children succumb to the cold.
1:09 "The collapsed body fell from the sky with frozen eyes I..." His perspective is backwards. If you notice in the video, there are several perspective changes that look almost the same. She's staring down at him, and he's staring up at her. He's probably imagining seeing the bright moon in the dark water as he's dying, and she's seeing the dark night sky, like they're both staring at the universe but from different perspectives.
1:35 "And so I fell and disappeared...while looking at the moon from the very bottom of Naraku" He has settled all the way at the bottom of the lake. Looking up, the hole is his only source of light, so he's looking up at her and seeing her as the moon.
2:18 "I can't hear anything, I can't touch anything, I can't move" He is experiencing his last moments, specifically dying of hypothermia. He is numb to everything, and cannot hear since he is submerged in water. The view above him fades into blue and red and resembles the galaxy.
2:22 "But I can still see, inside the warm pocket I was placed into...the painful trembling is kindly, letting me sleep comfortably..." Hypothermia tends to kill people because they suddenly get warm and believe they are better. It's heartbreaking - he believes the warm and his trembling is comforting, when it's his body shutting down and trying to give him peace, letting him die thinking he's being rocked to sleep.
2:44 "In the night sky I bid farewell to the broken you" He's seeing his moon one last time, and she's badly injured from the fall.
3:00 "And so you became the moon, the gloomy and broken me, the broken lump keeps shining...And so I became a star" He is upset that this is all that is to become of him. But, he keeps "shining" and transforms into a star in the sky, so he can be with his moon forever.
3:15 "The moon won't shine anymore/is disappearing" She has died with him, and she stops shining and her soul leaves.
3:20 "The star is also disappearing into the light" He has died. They both are gone.
3:28 "The disappeared couple cannot be found anywhere, at the very bottom of the universe, they are together forever!" Their bodies are at the bottom of the frozen lake, never found, where they both rest side by side.

This song is like a dark fairytale for adults. It’s comforting to listen to Kikuo playfully and beautifully tell a tragic story 🎈
It's this shot (1:39) that paints the clearest picture for me about what the song is really about. The kid looking at the Moon from afar can also be interpreted as him sinking into the lake as he looks at the girl who can only look at him sinking deeper and deeper through the same hole he fell in, therefore looking like the Moon from his pov.
When you look at the shot with that in mind, it honestly looks terrifying, specially seeing the Moon get further and further away from you while being unable to do anything but float away.

I know this song is hella sad and disturbing, but the melody is so beautiful, and Kikuo ended his show in Buenos Aires with this song, confetti, and ballons (and hoshi-kun dancing in stage lol) ; it was such a good closure to his magical show, and now I want to cry everytime I listen to this song. It may be for the meaning of the song, or because I want to experience once again that amazing concert's ending, or maybe it's a mix of both!
