When it bakes the marshmallows rise and the strawberries sink and the cake marbles. Sooo good.
Also, we’ve had a real issue with fruit flies every year but I’ve sat out a cup of red wine vinegar with dish soap and a touch of water mixed in... they’ve all disappeared into it, no fruit fly problems anymore!
I also have issues with fruit flies. Solved by getting a pitcher plant. Almost overnight, all the flies vanished without a trace. My son is very allergic to most pesticides, and I hate sticky fly papers, so a nice plant that sits next to the fruit bowl is perfect.

I made this today and it was so good! I used oat milk instead cuz that's all we had, and I cooked it longer cuz I love crispy golden tops on cakes. So the bottom layer ended up turning into a crust but it was good, and the middle was a bread pudding consistency which I loved, and the cake part on top was crunchy and delicious! I'll have to get real milk at some point and bake it the right way to try that. Thanks for sharing!
SnoopDorkyDork I felt the same until I made it. It’s nearly impossible to get the whipped egg whites folded into what is essentially liquid. I gave up and used a whisk which worked a lot better.
I'm not a baker or chef by any means, this is the first time I ever tried actually baking something and it came out perfect on the first try. Emmy's tutorials are so good even a newbie like me could nail it. I'd love to try this with other extracts instead of vanilla-- lemon maybe, or orange? Almond? Would this work if you replaced the egg with bananas, or would it not set up right? I have so many ideas.

Going to try this recipe looks right up my alley. One thing, more than likely those are not fruit flies but actually drain flies. They reproduce in drains feeding off of food debris. What we have found that works well is a product called Hot Spot Stain Remover from Rockwell Labs. They also have a foam you can spray but I have not tried that. Good Luck!
They were definitely fruit flies. I was inadvertently breeding them. It's a long story. 🙈
I don't know why, but I'm laughing so hard at how powerful your mixer is hahaha. I should try this recipe, it seems fun!
The first time I made this the parchment paper floated up into the layers! Ha we had a mouth full of paper lol
How does that even happen?
Hahaha oh no!
As someone who has been baking cakes for years, seeing you mix the whites like that gave me a heart attack
SnoopDorkyDork
I felt the same until I made it. It’s nearly impossible to get the whipped egg whites folded into what is essentially liquid. I gave up and used a whisk which worked a lot better.
"I don't want to be edible."
And then you can see it in your face that you realized what you just said, lmao
Emmy!! Every color looks beautiful on you 💐💐
🎶 Kids incorporated... K! I! D! S! 😆 omg I haven’t thought of that in YEARS!
I was thinking the same thing 😄
Saw one of your Gevalia ads, and was like, "Emmy's moving up in the world." Love the channel, keep on doing you.
Who instantly clicked when they saw Emmy's new post?
Yes
Me!!!
Every time dude
This is the first thing I've made from your videos and it turned out fantastically!
Did you really just sing Kids Incorporated? OMG NIGHT MADE!
Yessssss!
Yes! I had to sing along!
I love you even more, Emmy...I too CAN’T STAND body products that smell like food 😂🙊🙊🙊
I'm glad you can relate.
Or home products. If my kitchen smells like fresh baked cookies, there better be cookies to eat!
Dude, for real! It almost never smells like real vanilla. It’s headache inducing for both my mom and me, although we love vanilla in desserts.
I like spices in my food so all perfume smells like badly overspiced food to me, may as well smell tasty😳
You being so happy always improves my mood. You’re awesome. Although your recipes and the subjects of your videos interest me, I always come back for the energy.
“Magic's just science that we don't understand yet.”
Wow. Super flattering outfit. Just a glowing rainbow of a human.
When you were going up on each speed on the mixer, it reminded me of that scene in Sandlot when the boys were trying to get their baseball back from the guard dog next door with a vacuum and they went up each level of sucking power to the point where the vacuum exploded. I'm glad the mixer didnt explode. 🙏 lol :p
Unrelated to cake, but I enjoy the quirky selections of music to go with the "magic" recipes. Like the song around 3:40. It reminds me of children's point-and-click computer games from the '90s. So precious to me 🥰
I had a very similar reaction when I first got that same brand of hand mixer... kitchenaid, right?
Actually it's the bowl, not the mixer. I've only use my bowl to serve after my fiasco with a mixer. It's lovely and wide, but waaaay too shallow.
I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS, THANK YOU!
Last Time I Was This Early, Emmy Was Made In America.
to prevent splatters, there are people who put two holes in a paper plate and stick the whisks through it to use b/c it covers the top of the bowl
Emmy: I don't want to be edible!
Me: *my mind is completely in the gutter… I'm so sorry*
You're not the only one 😂😂😂😂
OMG NOT ON THIS CHANNEL THIS IS THE WHOLESOME CHANNEL! Here we pretend we are good children.
vore
The PetrarcticWar there are two kinds of people 🤣🤣🤣
Guilty as well.
My mom has a similar recipe of magic custard cake. It is at least 25 years old and since my mom lives in Romania, it has definitely not originated solely from jo cooks. I can honestly say it is my favorite cake and I could eat a whole batch by myself easily (I love custard)
I missed the sentence: I’m going to seperate the eggs with my impeccably clean hands :)
Loved the KIDS Incorporated song! You are so much fun to watch!
I squealed when you started singing the Kids Inc theme.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
K-I-D-S KIDSINCORPORATED!!!!!
I'm TOTALLY going to make this with my daughter tomorrow as a science experiment!! Thanks for the inspiration Emmy!!!
@emmymadeinjapan do you think that it would work with a 9x9 pan rather than an 8x8?
