That’s the same feeling as when I drove past where my grandparents used to live for over 50 yrs … it had been sold after they both died & had been knocked down & a new uninteresting house had replaced it … yet my memories still currently exist for now… but as a bonus the house that I grew up in I pulled up In front of in the summer prior to covid and the people who had bought the house invited us in : this was me & 2 of my 3 children… my family moved out from it in 1981 & the lady remembered my now deceased mum & the ONLY thing that was the same was a shed in the garden … everything else has been updated ! But again still exists in my memory for now … I just wished that my daughter had been with us on that day for her to see exactly where I grew up , which was very different from the environment that my 3 children have grown up in . Yes I have fond memories of when I lived in that family home in the 70s & 80s …
I used to drive my elderly boss to Chicago every Mon. One day I found out his boyhood home was still standing - it had to be sold when he was 12, his father died of cancer. It was still there, but the houses after it were had been leveled for an IT restaurant. It was a 3 story walk up, the place and been divided, leaving 2 stories for either side and the 1st floor became a video rental store biz. It was Kinzie St. He was 99 that year and when I had him wait in car to see if I could find anyone home first, a guy on a bike rode up, a resident Dr. at nearby hosp. I asked if there was any chance he would have a quick peek inside. Sure enough, he welcomed us in. I had to hang onto to the back of his pants and belt bc I never saw him move so fast up those stairs! He was like that 12 yr. old boy again. It was the same, that side of the house had his parent's and his shared room with his brother. My boss gave me the tour. It was the most amazing and moving day for him and me. The doctor had the cutest little dog waiting on him in the window - Lester. That was over 13 yrs. ago. My boss made it to 100 yrs., 3 mos. and 3 days. I did the same thing with a mansion he had bought from a brewery owner and lived in for about 30 yrs. from the 40's to the mid 70's. That was a 3 hr. tour. I had an awesome job for about 4 years. Best job in my life. RIP Harry L. Epstein. What a life he had. Larry King I met and was interested to interview him, but I couldn't get him to do it - he just didn't see his life as that interesting to be interviewed on. I tried like hell to get him to just do it. No cigar. Larry was disappointed. Me too. I still think of my boss daily. 😣
I feel Sharon's pain. They just knocked down my old house were my kids we're all raised in. And a couple of other houses just to put up an apartment building. It's sad, strange not seeing our home anymore.
Can relate, one of my childhood homes is now land in a nature reserve, my father's house burned down, but my grandfather's house was updated over time, currently worth 450k!
It'd sad to know how few of us have the chance to go back in time to get in touch with our roots these days! Those parents who keep their kids' childhood rooms for them to stay in when they visit always seemed so awesome to me because I am not so lucky.

Such a pretty block of homes to be gone. 😢

She’s right it is depressing. It would of been lovely if she could of seen the home again.
My grandmother's place is now a rock quarry..made me sad.
Many will find places they once knew will be gone with time,it's sad..
✌
There goes Sharon's hopes of ever getting a sponsor deal with Tesco.
Progress always wins!
At least the built something on it. My grandparents house in Melksham is now a car park.
Not just knocked down, but a Tesco built over it. Oh, for shame.
Gee she does have feelings.
Annoying that the 5th video is hidden!
Sharon's face is demolished now, too.
