1st concern: I know everyone is on their mother's side, but I'm more on the family members' sides. Most the comments said they just can make their own dinner: It's because they can't. Isn't it obvious that they can't, that's why this is a concern? The daughter said she couldn't even eat a banana without her mother's permission, do you think her mother'd let her cook, especially something as grand as a dinner? (Korean meals are always grand; one sandwich considered as a meal is unthinkable especially when someone in your family can cook). My mom is exactly like her. She complains a lot that no one helps around the house including cooking but truthfully she always rejects all of our help offer and shoos us away because she doesn't trust us to be as good as her. It's probably not the exact same case here but I have a feeling it's similar. The mother did said she's the only one who HAS to cook everything by herself. In S.Korea, mothers' pride mostly relates with her cooking and the way they do house chores (it's obvious by how surprised the audience was when the mother said she cannot wake up early). It's the rest of the family members who have to convince her that they can help, so the chores can be finished earlier and their dinner time can happen earlier. But then again most S.Korea families are very strict with their view on "fathers are the ones making money and mothers are the one doing house chores, period". :/
IMO, they should invite an expert to be on the show. The second concern really concerns me. We can see what is the obvious problem and who is at wrong but its not as simple as that.
the reason she can't get up until noon-3pm is because she's so tired from the night-work and from her depression. however the sleeping in until late only makes depression worse because you're not giving your body the proper sunlight and activity it needs, if she forces herself to get up earlier, even 10am to start chores, she could be done with all the cleaning by 3pm (since she says she's a slow-worker), exercise from 3:30-5:30, groceries bought by 6:15 and dinner served at 7:30.

I honestly don't empathize with them at all except for the father who probably has been working a lot harder than the rest of the family.

Everyone keeps complaining about the daughter and telling her to make her own food but A.) she's working and B.) The mom's a stay at home mom. As someone who knows stay at home dads its kinda weird if the mom was working all day and is starving and the dad were at home all day and had time to go to the gym but not enough time to cook and when the family wanted to feed THEMSELF with something like a banana he would say no... Its pretty selfish from that view point. right? Like I get it you think be independent ...until you realize you don't know their culture or way of life enough to be getting pissy at the fact that the STAY AT HOME mom cooks and dictates things and won't let the father who has been working all day eat until she says so.
Totally agree with you. People are saying how she lie about having to ask her mom whether she could eat a snack or not, do they seriously think she wants to lie something so ridiculous on nation wide tv? Even if so, wouldn't her mom said something about that?

1st concern: I know everyone is on their mother's side, but I'm more on the family members' sides. Most the comments said they just can make their own dinner: It's because they can't. Isn't it obvious that they can't, that's why this is a concern? The daughter said she couldn't even eat a banana without her mother's permission, do you think her mother'd let her cook, especially something as grand as a dinner? (Korean meals are always grand; one sandwich considered as a meal is unthinkable especially when someone in your family can cook). My mom is exactly like her. She complains a lot that no one helps around the house including cooking but truthfully she always rejects all of our help offer and shoos us away because she doesn't trust us to be as good as her. It's probably not the exact same case here but I have a feeling it's similar. The mother did said she's the only one who HAS to cook everything by herself. In S.Korea, mothers' pride mostly relates with her cooking and the way they do house chores (it's obvious by how surprised the audience was when the mother said she cannot wake up early).
It's the rest of the family members who have to convince her that they can help, so the chores can be finished earlier and their dinner time can happen earlier. But then again most S.Korea families are very strict with their view on "fathers are the ones making money and mothers are the one doing house chores, period". :/

the reason she can't get up until noon-3pm is because she's so tired from the night-work and from her depression. however the sleeping in until late only makes depression worse because you're not giving your body the proper sunlight and activity it needs, if she forces herself to get up earlier, even 10am to start chores, she could be done with all the cleaning by 3pm (since she says she's a slow-worker), exercise from 3:30-5:30, groceries bought by 6:15 and dinner served at 7:30.

Tbh I can totally see where the younger daughter from the 2nd concern is coming from I definitely think that the parents don't really care about the kids too much...I mean it's good to be affectionate to eachother but when you have kids you need to always put the kids first.

To the people who are confused about young people in Korean know so much about sex, not many little Koreans do. If you didn't see, the cast were all suprised when the little sister said she knew what it is.
I fell bad for those two little girls they obviously don't get as much attention and affection they deserve and their parents don't care to remedy it. If you are considering having children you should think really hard whether you will be able to care for those children emotionally as well as physically. Their dad obviously doesn't see the problem and the mom just seems nonchalant towards the children. Those two honestly shouldn't have had kids if they weren't going to be their number one priority in their lives, all parents know that your sex life takes a blow one way or another when your raising kids. There are so many people out here in this world that would give those two girls so much love and affection as parents but they got stuck with them, it makes me sad. Also I hate that the father's answer to their begging for attention was you'll understand me when you get older instead of I'll keep you in mind more often and show more affection.
