I felt like I couldn't do anything before this video, and now I am having on impact in tfo's I couldn't do anything about before, the keybind video also helped me a lot, I hate clicking manually!
I have been reading lots of guides for nearly a year now and learned a lot about the game but you taught me more in 3 videos than every guide and other videos I found. Thank you for this.
The BOFF Rotation and Ability guides have been extremely helpful. I have been testing out different things on a few of my builds -- Norway Class T6X - I used a Torp Build on it, then I used a CSV then a FAW to see which one suits me the best - building from the center of the bar out, like you recommended. This setup works well on all three types. So thank you for the informative overview. Much appreciated!
Thank you for explaining some of the things I've had been trying to understand. A long time friend of mine, who is very knowledgeable on sto, helped me. As I played he told me what to get and how to get it, all in free to play. I have the, build ,but not good on the how and why, and that's what this video has helped me with. Again thank you.
And for those of us who play while a little drinky there is Federation Emergency Services (FES) for STO keybinds so they all chain off of the fire button. The ability to add chained keybinds is built into STO. It's not a cheat or hack. All the FES does is generate the line of code you need to copy paste into chat, and viola, one button triggers your boff ability chain and fires weapons.
FES is the tits! That's how I set up all my binds. One of the first things I do on a new toon is use one of three bind setups, depending on whether it's an Eng, Sci, or Tac toon.
You don’t even need to be tipsy. Some builds have so many abilities and and consoles that even someone like me who typically uses 32 keybinds comfortably in mmorpgs does this. My most used dps rotation, firing all weapons (except torpedoes if using maelstrom), balance shields, loot and roll need are all on spacebar. Even with that I still have 1-7, shift 1-7, alt 1-7 and ctrl 1-7 filled with other abilities, consoles and batteries. The game could use some ability trimming.
Thanks for the video. I started out wanting to have 'more control' about what I wanted to use when, but I've come to realize that there's a core set of clicks that just need to get used on CD. So I guess it's time to set up some more advanced keybinds and a spam bar.
I love this as a former diehard Warcraft player lol. Macros macros and then... less macros and then more macros and then now no macros well needed that is lol.
Dang...I see all these kinds of tutorials and I think I'm doing it wrong now. Why did I choose the faction/race I did? I thought they looked cool. Why did I choose the ship I ended up with? It looked cool. Why did I choose the loadout of endgame parts and weapons I did? I figured I couldn't go wrong with a complete set of something no matter what it was. But I'm not out to be a competitive player with the best damage output or whatever, I just want to have fun and be able to contribute during online matches.
I also run Captain abilities in the spam tray. With Intel Agent Attaché and Advanced Rapid Support, Tactical Fleet is practically a boff ability. For cooldown, I got my passive CDR method down to global. It's a niche build but suitable for budget phaser builds. Still going to use the more traditional CDR methods. Good video. I am going to slightly disagree with you though. While rotations are important, I don't think that they are as rigid as in other MMO'S. ESO, for example, requires a very strict rotation between your back bar and front bar abilities. Any deviation in the activation order could mean the difference between your character doing a respectable DPS and barely harming the bad guys. In STO, you can play around more. Skip an ability here or delay an activation there. It's actually very casual friendly...for an MMO. Obviously, timing your abilities is essential for the DPS chase. One doesn't need to chase DPS all that far to be successful though.
I do most of my piloting with my mouse, no WAS&D here....and I'm a button smasher so using binds is pretty much the only way I'll play STO. Same applies to ground missions and TFOs.
I have an issue where if I have my fire mode on my spam bar it “misfires” anywhere between 25 and 50% of the time, going onto shared cool-down without taking effect which I think is what you were talking about. This seems to happen less with FAW and BO but I need to trigger CSV manually.
STU? Question about keybinds. I use STO Keybinds app, I have my trays setup similar. but there is some really odd bug happening. when I target an enemy, sometimes my key bind key will not work. I was going crazy trying to figure out what the cause was. I found it. I have no idea why this is happening but here it is. If I hit the ESC key, I have to do that several times. its like there is some hidden window that's open that is preventing the keys from firing off the keybinds. If I do this when not in combat, rapidly firing off my keybinds that hidden window never happens. but when I'm in combat, it happens all the times. and its driving me batshit crazy trying to figure this out and how to prevent it. Have you seen this happen? or know what might be causing it??
With regards to the cooldowns does Tactical Initiative III stack with photonic officer or would you only use one of them please? I also think I'm missing something with the keybinds followed your video but hitting the keybind doesn't trigger the fulll tray instead its 1/2, 3/4, 5/6/8 and 9/10 in order as I press the space bar (photonic officer/emergency power to weapons, adaptive emergency systems/attack pattern alpha, fleet weapon acceleration/beam overload III/Fire at will, Scatter Volley/Torpedo Spread, with 7 being mixed weapons synergy that I don't have an enemy to trigger on). So if I press space bar it'll trigger the cooldown and emergency power to weapons only, if I hit it twice then I get those two on the first press then adaptive emergency systems and attack pattern alpha on the second. If I hit it rapidly it changes slightly around halfway and auto triggers the attack types (fire at will, etc) after fleet weapon and beam overload.
It stacks This is correct, it is not possible to activate the entire roe at once, the game does not allow you to activate more then one abilities at the exact same time....
Hey bud, I have a problem with my bo . I'm on ps4 and I have bo on auto but it does not proc on. I have to click it as well csv, I use csv for the bonus . Would you have any idea as to why this is happening?
hi MC i got my event ship an I got the kirk i know it is flawed but it is the epitome of space barbie did you get yours yet? and what are you getting ?
I have not, on my free to play I will most likely go with the 2 zStore tokens and that Adamant and not sure on the 2nd one yet. On my main acct I have not made my mind up yet
I've stopped using keybinds a year or two ago. I really got tired of having them fail because my bloody traits kept being unslotted that I just gave up on using them. There are days where I just stop playing because I don't feel like reslotting my traits yet again...
" I don't use keybindings. I click fast on the mouse." I hear ya Robert mate! If I'm totally honest I don't really understand all this stuff. I just do the best I can. My main ship just roasts thru everything and with 20,000+ accolade points I must be doing something right! 😉
about those TFOs.. do you get more rewards for dealing the most dmg? or why is it important to deal as much dmg as you can? is it bad to just fly along and try your best even if that means not doing much because someone else is a dps monster? or is the TFO reward ruined when someone else is dealing alot more dmg then you? i dont understand the focus on dps...

Very nice guide.
At first I didn't understand what AuxToBat was, but you explained it later.
I'm on console but I always get great info from your videos! Appreciate it man
Thanks MCStu! I made a few small changes to the order and got a better dps parse!
One good thing about STO is that damage is updated as you use abilities, unlike WoW.

You need to one for console as well omg so many people don't know how to set up the auto triggers
Hahaha I gotta redo my bar! I’ve been putting Photonic Officer at the END!
I learned a lot from this video thanks
Good info, thanks MC Stu
Thanks for the info now to rearrange my trays 🤣
Great video! thanks

Uuu this seems interesting >:3
It's all about the spam rotation!

@@MCStu Thank you. I wasn't sure if tactical intiative was a hard set to 45% or a set to 45% then modify. I've seen both in games.

Great info.. though I'm curious.. why ERL and FAW? Do you save ERL for later when you need single target?
With the cool down reductions I don't have much of an issue having it up when I need it.

I've always been told first bar always weapon buffs first then faw/bo the then two Aux2bat then the second and 3rd rows everything else

Did I miss that this is for people using an external program to auto-push a line of buttons?
While I use key binds, you do not have to and it would not change your activation rotation.
I am still trying to figure out how you have 2 trays LOL. No, I don't use keybindings. I click fast on the mouse.

The "Key binds" video linked in the description shows how to get the extra tray starting at about 7:30.

You can get me loot drops for killing more enemies but not more rewards. All the matters is that you are enjoying the way that you plays....
Another PC feature I never knew we didn't have on console...
Hey Stu. Im new to the game. Do you have a vid on how to setup the key bind?
Yes there is a link to the video showing you how to set up the key bind in the description of this video.
@@MCStu Thanks so much. You rock
the problem is "Numpad 0" isnt Numpad 0 inertially at least for keybinds
there is so mutch wrong and half-knowlege, make videos about stuff you know more about and make sure you dont tell anybody wrong informations.
Where is any content that anything resembling this level of complexity is needed or warranted? FAW and space bar will win 90% of battles
anything advanced level or higher.
@@MCStu and very few of those if you bother to upgrade
