On inverters, this delay is about 1 to 2 seconds, which is enough cause your PC to restart, or damage it. This delay on a UPS is about 10 to 15 ms, which is very fast and just a fraction of a second, which is why a UPS is recommended for a PC.
The main benefit of ups is understood during any kind of updates. Think you are updating your bios and the light goes of any kind of interruption can cause Post system boot failure though motherboard now a days come with dual bios. Same for windows update interruption in it can cause corruption of registry files and even more damage to your operating system. I think UPS is mainly required for specific reason if you don't have a powerful inverter

Simple inverters provide backup but they don't smooth out voltage fluctuations. But I do think that good quality MCB+ simple inverter should be able to do reliably do the job
The transfer time/switchover time of typical home inverters is over 13-16ms ms ,while a good ups is around 4 ms. So no,home inverters cant replace a good ups.
Its not just about autosave. If you are working with Autodesk Maya or some other 3d software , and suddenly there is a power cut your files can get corrupted. And it actually happens. You definitely need a backup whether it is inverter or ups of the required wattage.
Firstly i used my old pc for 5 years without ups.. than new gaming pc also without ups ( on inverter ).. recently started facing a problem that there is a cut of electricity for a second the way ig told it used to happen in old inverter...so using ups just to prevent the 1 second cut...else inverter op..can run my pc for hours on normal usage (never did long time gaming on inverter)

So, UPS is one of the primary requirements for people like me. Inverter does not help, because switching time is not as fast as a UPS. It is a highly generalised idea that UPS is not necessary. Again INVERTER NEVER HELPS!

Ever heard of power outrage during bios update? Some UPS @10K can give you at least 10+ mins backup which let you finish online ranked match...You might be a scam as well.

I agreed with many points especially with the capacity of UPS. I bought the following components from Mdcomputers, AMD Ryzen 3800X, Aus ROG Strix X570-E, G.Skilll Trident Z 16x2 GB DDR4 3200 MHz, Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500 GB NVMe SSD, 2 TB Seagate Barracuda, Antec 80+ Gold 750W PSU and APC 1.1KVA UPS in last year-end. I also bought Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super 3F OC Gfx from Nehru Place. When I ordered these components from Mdcomputers, one of their salespeople called me told me that the UPS is insufficient for this much powerful system and you need at least 1.5 KVA UPS. Which was twice the price of 1.1 KVA. Or else your component might fail and their warranty might be voided. I laughed at him and told him sorry won't get fooled. First of all, there is no requirement of UPS to actually cover the warranty and second I know very well the UPS is sufficient for my use case. I bought UPS because in my society none of the residents has Inverters installed as there is a central power backup system. Hence there is no need for keeping an inverter. But the problem with this backup is that DG takes around 30 40 seconds to kick-in. So there is nothing to rely on. Hence for that 30 40 second margin, I need UPS to keep me afloat. More than the PC, the modem-cum-router takes at least 2 to 3 mins to boot up and provide internet while the PC itself takes less than half a minute to complete boot. Then I keep waiting for the router to provide internet. Many a time, I have to attend classes and meetings. In some of these classes, you have to mark your attendance by type present in the text box. Which I missed due to router taking its sweet time. Hence I put my router on UPS as well. Now I have zero downtime and no annoyance in meetings or classes.
I haven't read snps but there might be something as safety circuit breaker like fuse or something in snps and it will break the supply and save you system. But if not then, your snps will get the damage. Your other equipment will be safe in either situation.
Just get a UPS with surge protection (APC).. don't listen to IG.. he is not a computer engineer to advice about UPS. If you are in India buy a UPS before buying your PC.

Without a UPS (stabilizer) or inverter, SSD might die, or OS may be corrupted. The main culprit is voltage fluctuation. UPS will give some amount of protection against it, that's all. Don't expect anything else. In some emergencies, you may get 2-10 backups if you are lucky. UPS is not completely garbage-through.
That's not true. I'm using my PS5 for 2 years without any UPS or inverter. My PS5 has survived dozens of power cuts and no issues. For voltage fluctuations you can just use a surge protector.

The information you are giving is only true to an extent, there are a lot of exceptions where UPS is not a Scam to purchase. In our middle class homes, Inverters only work for an year in it's perfect timeline, after that they start compromising on our appliances safety. And in many homes, inverters can't handle 300-400Watt load and they simply trip untill you reduce the load. In India, we still use windows 7 and old programs which are 7-10 years old and not latest, which doesn't have auto save features. UPS does save our system from damage, I am a Hardware Technician, i have repaired a lot of pc which were being used without UPS and their PSU died with sudden fluctuation of Voltage and also damaged hard disks, Sata and Fan ports, affected Bridges too

I used to have a Desktop which I us without ups. Its smps gets fried all the time when the current goes. And now i have a ps4 slim(which was 1 week old) its hdd got bad during power cut. Also ps4 always goes to safe mode and have to wipe out entire memory just because i didn't do the proper shutdown. Btw my home has inverter since i was child but its not ups supported we've changed it thrice but never put on a ups supported one. And i don't think everyone has inverter in India.
Followed your advice and invested in an inverter rather than a UPS. And from my experience over the past 1.5 years, you are 100% correct. I bought an inverter with dual battery, which was quiet expensive in the beginning. But was completely worth it, as I could do my work even during the power cuts.

I am using an Pentium processor with a wahiyat quality psu without ups and when there is an electricity failure it shut down obviously it will 😅 but I restart it just asks for an startup repair nothing else.
completely wrong, the heavy ups prevented my 2.5 lakh cpu form blowing up as it completely cut off the power to cpu during 400 voltage spike ... ups helps in rare cases where your house mcb fails, it saves your expensive cpu;s life...
The basic thumb rule for calculating the UPS VA : VA = 1.6 X Watts ( TOTAL LOAD) . For eg : for 360 Watts, VA = 1.6 X 360 = 576 VA approx (600 VA). So, EndlessDesire is quite prompt ! 2. Well in certain scenarios you DO NEED AN UPS. Some of us have generators in our apartments so we generally don't have Inverter at home. However the switchover time of generator is enough to shut down your pc. So you do need a ups for that 1-2 sec switchover time. Having a big ass inverter and battery is not viable in such scenario

I haven't read snps but there might be something as safety circuit breaker like fuse or something in snps and it will break the supply and save you system. But if not then, your snps will get the damage. Your other equipment will be safe in either situation.

Without a UPS (stabilizer) or inverter, SSD might die, or OS may be corrupted. The main culprit is voltage fluctuation. UPS will give some amount of protection against it, that's all.
Don't expect anything else. In some emergencies, you may get 2-10 backups if you are lucky. UPS is not completely garbage-through.
That's not true. I'm using my PS5 for 2 years without any UPS or inverter. My PS5 has survived dozens of power cuts and no issues. For voltage fluctuations you can just use a surge protector.

The information you are giving is only true to an extent, there are a lot of exceptions where UPS is not a Scam to purchase.
In our middle class homes, Inverters only work for an year in it's perfect timeline, after that they start compromising on our appliances safety.
And in many homes, inverters can't handle 300-400Watt load and they simply trip untill you reduce the load.
In India, we still use windows 7 and old programs which are 7-10 years old and not latest, which doesn't have auto save features.
UPS does save our system from damage, I am a Hardware Technician, i have repaired a lot of pc which were being used without UPS and their PSU died with sudden fluctuation of Voltage and also damaged hard disks, Sata and Fan ports, affected Bridges too

I used to have a Desktop which I us without ups. Its smps gets fried all the time when the current goes. And now i have a ps4 slim(which was 1 week old) its hdd got bad during power cut. Also ps4 always goes to safe mode and have to wipe out entire memory just because i didn't do the proper shutdown.
Btw my home has inverter since i was child but its not ups supported we've changed it thrice but never put on a ups supported one. And i don't think everyone has inverter in India.

Followed your advice and invested in an inverter rather than a UPS. And from my experience over the past 1.5 years, you are 100% correct. I bought an inverter with dual battery, which was quiet expensive in the beginning. But was completely worth it, as I could do my work even during the power cuts.

Well in certain scenarios you DO NEED AN UPS. Some of us have generators in our apartments so we generally don't have Inverter at home. However the switchover time of generator is enough to shut down your pc. So you do need a ups for that 1-2 sec switchover time. Having a big ass inverter and battery is not viable in such scenario

jab light jaati hai aur jab aati hai dono time problem ho sakti hai. ups ekdum hi jaroori nai hai aisa nai hai. ups aur inverter main 12000 rs se jayada ka farak ho sakta hai (invertor 15000 ka maan le to aur ups 3 ka) jo sab afford nai kar sakte hai. to ups computer ko sahi se band karne ka time de deta hai. data copy ho raha ho to usko cancel karne ka time deta hai aur pendrive remove karne ka time deta hai. ye video main jayada content nai hai bas invertor ke baare main bata rahe hai IG bhai jo sabke paas nai hai aur agar hai bhi to bhi ho sakta hai purana ho jaisa IG bhai ne bola ki 5 saal se jo aa rahe hi unka cutoff time kam hota hai. ho sakta hai ki aap society main rehete ho jaha central power backup chalta ho jo 5 se 10 second leta hai on hone main. mera sirf ye kehena hai ki scam nai hai par har kisi ko jaroorat nai hoti hai. aur IG bhai hume knowledge hai yaar asia to mat bolo :D

My apc ups, I use only when power cut, for router. Almost work 3.5 hour.
