  • In this video, we walk you though everything we learned about traveling to Machu Picchu and staying in the little town of Machu Picchu Pueblo, or Aguas Calientes as some call it. We take you step by step through Plaza de Armas, show you where the ticket and bus offices are, share some of the best things to do in the city, the best places to eat, and check out 3 of the best hotel options in 3 different price ranges to help you make a decision on where to stay!
    Hotels we recommend:
    Five Star Hotel: Sanctuary Lodge, A Belmond Hotel Only really positives to say here, staff is amazing, breakfast options were more than we could ask for, menus are allergy friendly, and you can wake up, have your coffee on the terrace and STARE at Machu Picchu! The only hotel that shares the mountain with the world wonder, all others require at 30 minute bus ride.
    Four Star Hotel: Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel (Beware no wifi in rooms, good wifi in the lounge pros are that it feels very secluded from the crowds, you can get your own bungalow in the jungle, and hike up to a waterfall on the property, it matches the vibes for what feels like Indiana Jones jungle exploring adventures)
    Three Star Hotel: Hotel Ferre Machu Picchu (ask for a room with good wifi, wifi is spotty at times, pros are it is budget friendly, great staff, and great view of the river)
    Favorite restaurant in Machu Picchu Pueblo: Chef's House because of the amazing, fun, friendly staff, and the chef made us a gluten free pizza, though it was not on the menu! Such amazing service! Of course, we also loved the Belmond Restaurants!

    There is another kind of place in the mountains . It is like our private MachuPicchu , I would say . The view of the River from the ruins in amazing. Its name is Choquequirao - what means golden cradle . . . The only way to get there is walking down the Canyon during a 1 day + 1 days going up . . . it is hard-trekking . Fortunately I did it when was younger . . . I camped in the middle of the ruins. Was unbelievable

    Hi there! so amazing! As I plan my Machu Picchu trip (post Covid), do you know if you were able to (or if you tried) to enter the site earlier than what your ticket time said to enter? For example, my ticket to enter says from 1400-1500…. Im wondering if you think they May let me in early (weekday - low season) in thr AM like when they first open? Or would i have to wait until that Time?
    I want to hike up early around 4:30 am from Aguascalientes, but id hate to wait at the top at the entrance if they aren’t going to let me in ya know?
    Thanks in advanced for any information.

    • @JeremyandAlly
      @JeremyandAlly  ปีที่แล้ว

      At the bottom they will check your ticket to make sure you can go up that day. Someone will be there. You can tell them you plan to take your time and go to restaurant if your early.
      If you are trying to enter Machu Picchu one minute before your allowed time they will restrict you. There is a restaurant and a gift shop up at the top on the outside of the park entrance. It’s not set up for people showing up early.

    Great series! I'm heading to Peru in a week. I'm the worst at haggling. Do you remember the range of costs for things in the market? Looking for a sweater and smaller stuffed llamas in particular. Thanks

    • @JeremyandAlly
      @JeremyandAlly  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! We have an entire playlist for Peru, perhaps that’s helpful for you as well. The “markets” are 30% cheaper than the stores it seems. I found lots of cool things sold around the square. Our favorite stretch was by the food plaza, San Pedro market (next to it) just wander around lots to see. I always ask the present only the cash I am willing to part with. I really liked the lama gear next to San Pedro market. The other “fancy” souvenirs are sold by plaza de armas. I liked the church shops those were awesome.

    When you discuss the train running late, you mentioned you were glad that you didn't have your bag or bags in a locker. What did you mean by that ? In a locker? You also mentioned you didn't bring your bags? I am assuming your luggage or carry on. If folks are wanting to stay more than one day in Aguas Calientes, is there a reason why it would not be advised yo bring your belongings? And you also mentioned the size of bag that is allowed in the train. Can you give more information on that. If someone is staying two days at Aguas Calientes are you not allowed to bring a small suitcase Or airplane size carry on onto the train? Can you not set it with you at your seat on the train? How do folks travel with a carry on or small suitcase? Just wanting to get a better idea and understanding with packing and what kind and size bag, carry on, suitcase or backpack is best if folks are giving to be going from Lima, to Cusco, to Aguas Calientes. Possibly a total stay of six to seven days. Maybe two days in Cusco, two days in Aguas Calientes, and two days Lima.

    • @JeremyandAlly
      @JeremyandAlly  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If your train is a two-part bus/ train route or stops in olly then the train offers a locker for you to rent. The lockers are only available for certain times during the day. If we would have put our stuff in the locker then we would have missed it because our train was delayed.
      The trains were not made for big bags. They strongly advise against you bringing anything bigger than a carry-on. There are like 3 spots on in the back of the train for a big bag but those could easily be taken. We did see some people turned away because of their bags and we did see some brought their big bags on with them. I emailed and asked for special permission to bring our big bag and they said no. We left our big bags in Cusco at our hotel. Depending on when your trains are you may want to stay one night in cusco on your way back from Aguas Calientes, that's what we did.
      I know the bag thing is crazy but the trains and the city are not made for roller bags.
