I lived here for 9 years. I learned about this in school. It's just horrible what happened in the past, and what is happening still to this day. While I lived in Tulsa, it was a quiet, nice, city. While I lived in the Midtown region, I went to the magnet school in the Greenwood District. It just amazes me that these white people still have this mentality in their minds that they are somehow "better" than the black and other communities.

I first heard about it last year, when I saw Watchmen (HBO). I searched it up because I didn't think it was real, and was horrified at the results. And to think that the people who did that still haven't been declared terrorists.
We need to charge rich, milk toast folks with generational wealth and make them pay for it; not the people who found a way to survive after such a tragedy
Me. But I'm not from the U.S., so I assumed it was just on account of having different emphasis on what history should be taught. But I learned about it in Netflix's "The 13th" and assumed it was common knowledge in the U.S. Shocking that it isn't. But not surprising.
How can we look or move forward if we don’t acknowledge our countries disgusting past to understand how hatred for one another can lead to horrible acts like this. This is why hatred is dangerous so we must help future generations write their history with a uplifting mood without race being in the middle of a dispute that leads to death and other harmful acts.
Exactly black history has to be told This is what our youth needs to know. No matter the mistreatment for centuries , we brushed it off and made things bigger. Never forget blacks built this country including the White House. Vote we have the power thanks to our ancestors. 🗳

I feel last year the show Watchmen in the first 10 minutes of the first episode you showed you the weight of Tulsa. Even now Lovecraft country did an episode there. It all was very emotional and brought it to the forefront pop culture wise.
I remember learning about this in my history textbook during high school. I was shocked and wondered why I hadn’t ever heard of such an event in middle school. It’s far more noble to seek righteousness than to run away from it. I would respect and support any community that would be able to do just that.

Events like this has happened often and another occurrence similar to this happened to Native Americans in OK. Its called the Osage Indian murders. In fact, OK is actually trying to located the bodies of thes Osage killings but please read up on it. Its a very sad event.
It's still hard to believe that this happened in the modern age... but it did... these are the kinds of stories that should be taught at school so they don't happen again.

I’m surprised you learned about this in Tulsa. My wife grew up in the 70’s and 80’s in Broken Arrow, and it was never taught to them in schools...

There are other similar massacres of black people that go untold. Just heard about the Thibadeax massacre in Louisiana.
