Well put
bro 49 soundtrack but cost me on hard no exp glitch or boost matéria to try battle 2hours of game play this will be legendery and game of the year
The final boss rush went on way too long.
It should have just been the Jenova Life fight all by itself. Shoving Sephiroth in at the end every-time in these games is redundant.
@@LordMalice6d9i get where you're coming from, especially with how he just flies away at the end for no reason. but sephiroth has had the obligatory final fight since advent children and it doesnt seem like that's changing any time soon lol
It's so Jenover
You just know One Winged Angel at the end of Part 3 is going to be a masterpiece.
They should make it a complete remake of just the base one-winged angel without the extra stuff but make every single beat hit like a bullet train
It has to be. But I also agree with the other comment. Just make it the best orchestral version of the original since Distant Worlds.
They are bringing back the man himself, the OG composer is gonna get a crack at the theme he created 30 years ago. Im shocked they made these two soundtracks largely without him
Yeah I agree w everyone else. They’re definitely gonna do the OG. Both versions from remake and rebirth have left out key parts (or obviously done it in a different order) and I think that’s cuz they want the OG version to hit super hard in the third
@@karthisplaysWHAT!? You’re telling me these masterpieces didn’t even have the man himself involved?! Part 3 is gonna be a masterpiece!!

14:47 that’s the sound of the dream tag team
Literally got chills during that scene
What a final gauntlet, man. Even though we got Bizarro Sephiroth this game, no doubt we will get Birth of a God in the next.
bizarro how
@@paul-nj1igThat’s the name of the form where he’s a giant body with a huge orb at the bottom and head at the top. “Bizzaro Sephiroth” in the OG showed up in the final battles of the game. So it was surprising to see it here so early
NOTE: It’s also a mistranslation! That’s why in Rebirth the name is “Sephiroth Reborn”. The OG FF7 had a lot of strange mistranslations.
@@paul-nj1igIt was always supposed to be "Rebirth Sephiroth" in the original game, as Sephiroth's larval stage before absorbing enough of the Lifestream to become a god, but Japanese has no distinction between "B" and "V", so it could also be interpreted as "Reverse" (one of the Kingdom Hearts games uses this confusion deliberately) and the original English translation of FF7 being... a 90s RPG translation, took the wrong interpretation and compounded it by making "Reverse Sephiroth" "Bizarro Sephiroth", a reference to the comic book character Bizarro, an imperfect Superman clone who gets everything backwards (beautyugliness, truthlies, etc.). It's a perfect storm of weird misunderstandings.
I think the song that the sepheroth themes is using as a base is jenova absolute the theme for jenova sinthuses
Its a sequel
Zack & Cloud vs Sephiroth has to be one of the Greatest throwdowns in Gaming history.
A callback to Angeal & Genesis vs Sephiroth!
Dude phase 1 of Jenovs Lifeclinger got me crying so hard

Jesus CHRIST Hamauzu, a 24 minute suite of pure orchestral music (no VSTs, actual orchestra) composed by his own hand, featuring some of the most beautiful (and advanced) harmonies you'll ever find this side of extreme atonalism? We're eating good.
I'm so glad he's the lead composer. Greatest decision ever
Oh there are definitely vst's at play here, it's just that much more efficient
Not saying they haven't recorded some real instruments along the way, just that I think those are the exception, not the norm
@night104 He's just as good as Nobuo Uematsu. In fact, most of FFX's soundtrack was Hamauzu's
I must admit, Hamauzu is good at making final boss music.
“I must admit”
He's been cooking since FFX. I think he's probably the most underrated composer at SE.
@@Charliestrife01lol unintentional reference to what sephiroth says at the end
I mean him and the other composers rearranging Uematsu's bangers, yeah. Honestly otherwise I'd say battle themes are what Hamauzu is worst at; so often it's a nondescript mess of brass and string instruments. He's way better at ambient background music that nudges the tone in certain direction, particularly when it's sombre.
@@fabesey2016 This is an interesting take considering Hamauzu is the closest any composer involved in the Remake series has ever gotten to create actual classical-like structures in both composition and orchestration. This is especially true for his final battle themes since they straight up use classical music he likes as reference at times (Szymanowski's 4th symphony for FF10 and 13 etc). I'm not implying this puts him above self-taught geniuses that use a more 'pop'-like flair for their battle music like Uematsu or anything like that, but when I think "nondescript mess of brass and string instruments", Hamauzu certainly isn't the first name to come to my mind. Care to give more specific examples?
When Cloud and Zack stood right next to each other and that theme kicks in. I might have yelled the loudest I ever have in my life

Man they really didn't include Birth Of A God anywhere in here huh?
They gotta be saving it for part 3
I mean he's probably gonna turn into a god for part 3 so definitely 😭
Actually, the violins at 29:15 do include the motif, but it's very brief :(
Yeah I was very surprised considering we fought that phase specifically
It was weird cus you fight the version of sephiroph where that song is, but yeah saving it for part 3 i assume.
I'm almost certain they'll bring that boss back since they brought back Rufus and others for Rebirth, so it makes sense to bring him in for the original buildup, OST included.
38:59 this little musical bridge before the start of the final battle theme, combined with Cloud turning around and seeing who was showing up to fight by his side for the final boss, got some tears of joy outta me.
just a bit of a ramble but bizarro sephiroth showing up here instead of in the end honestly makes a lotta sense in the context im looking at it. Chapter 14 can be interpreted as the beginning of Sephiroth’s ascendancy to godhood, his power and influence over the lifestream as well as the timelines all woven into the lifestream growing to a zenith as the worlds start converging, and so he starts undergoing a spiritual metamorphosis of sorts (since his true body has yet to revive). sephiroth reborn is the full manifestation of sephiroths spirit, which at this point is capable of existing simultaneously on several layers of reality. the reason he returns to his one winged form in the final phase is because at this point we’re within the recesses of clouds mind, with aerith entering via the lifestream. this likely also has to do with why anytime cloud, sephiroth, and also zack now were about to face off in the cosmic space looking area theres always the series of quick, rapid cuts directly referencing the scene in the original where cloud omnislashes the hell out of sephiroth. twice now he’s been able to resist sephiroths influence, but thats all. he isnt strong enough to completely eradicate him just yet, and even if he was able to beat him in rebirth, it doesnt necessarily mean hes stronger. if anything, his mind is about to reach a breaking point, and aerith helping him beat back sephiroth was her making sure he didnt hit that breaking point during this fight
I love that the choir sections are reversed. The basses usually start the chant with the siren sopranos haunting overhead but in the triumphant and evil "GLORIOSA" and "GENEROSA" is genius in the approach here. Hearing the chanting slowly drowned into the rest of the mix led by the male portion of the choir, it feels pretty intentional. Love this rendition so much.
26:50 is amazing. I cant even fully explain how that part makes me feel. It sounds like a beautiful god just came down to bless you with their presence.
It kinda has vibes of this one th-cam.com/video/FPweDCxyp6g/w-d-xo.html
But in a less heroic but more of a "you will die" vibe!
'Be not afraid, I am your salvation.'
-Biblically accurate heartless angel
If Aerith survived, people would complain about how her death was a key part of the original game.
If they never included the fate and Whispers stuff, and killed her normally, people would complain about how they barely added new stuff.
And people are complaining about the ending they chose because it "doesn't commit".
People gotta complain, I guess. I'm all in for what Square has in store tbh
I mean if you know the original story, you know she's dead as fuck. Cloud sees her alive because he's hallucinating like he just took a gallon of LSD, as in "From a milk Jug" kinda gallon. And, while everyone else knows Aerith is deader than people's hope for Half life 3, Cloud is the MF hopeful that it's still OTW basically. Hell double that with his mini-interaction with Zack during the boss fight. Those who don't know the story after this point in the original are gonna be in for a fucking sledgehammer powered by the infinity engine going into their hearts when Part 3 (Which I'm coining as "Reunion" since look at the fuckin names you see the pattern) inevitably drops and slams that hammer down.
As an FF8 fan, I'm not complaining that Sephiroth basically tries to give the FF7 world(s) an "Ultimecia-treatment".
Besides of that, I think it is hilarious that Sephiroths plan of a planet wide wipe would just call Omega and then his victory would immediately be in vein due to the "planet-reset".
@@grieveromega6060 wait what omega resets the planet??? i havent played dirge of cerberus
that's cool
@@grieveromega6060well that and this sephiroth wants to merge all timelines of whatever worlds there are and wipe them out idk he could summon omega but since Gilgamesh can be I see why not omega but then again u guess he wants to be the one to do meteor and needs cloud to do the same actions as the original
@@banditbro25well yea and nah yea because the remake version of her is gone and no because when cloud went against the whispers he created a separate world since he didn’t do his speak and all so there’s at least one aerith alive plus when they fell down that black tree or whatever that thing was their bodies were from Zack’s timeline the one who survived the one he was carrying and let’s not get started on there being like 3 different Zack’s one looking for hojo Biggs and the one who fought a version of sephiroth(maybe the same one because sephiroth is beyond his advent children level of power and knowledge of other worlds)
18:30 This part gives me goosebumps, the way that the chorus sings something in Latin is very creepy
I immediately thought of Barthandelus and Orphan's theme from FFXIII when this part came, and basically everything else after! So fucking good
Phase 1 of that Jenova fight hits so hard. I got teary eyed hearing the theme but the second the choir came in… man…
Hamauzu has been my favorite composer ever since I first played FFXIII. Since then I've always wondered why he wasn't talked about more
Have you listened to any of his other game compositions? If not, I highly recommend Sigma Harmonics and then there’s his off shoot project if you haven’t heard them. Giant from his Imeraut album is pretty good also
because uematsu exists and he delivered in every ff game masterpieces and then shimomura came for 1 game and ffxv is also one of the best soundtrracks, its different than the other games with a lot of latin vocals, chants and its more EPIC music like ffxvi. also shimomura just delivered with kingdom hearts on of the best osts ever aswell. its just difficult to get out of that shadow cos the shadow is huge for a reason
33:20 until 34:00 is just *chefs kiss* i love how quiet it got and you just hear the haunting veni veni venias ne me mori facias and the gloriosa generosa parts
Sephiroth, man, how much frigging power does this guy have right now, he can make worlds and new universes...
So glad I was born in the 90s to live long enough for this remake. Thank you square enix team
19:50 god im such a sucker for looped creepy ambiance like this, so glad it purely wasn't just a One Winged Angel leitmotif throughout the entire sequence, hopefully we get more of this in the future where you get really creepy with the ost as opposed to yet another rendition of the same song that's been shoved throughout the entire series by now
Remember when Dancing Mad was the longest final boss theme? Yeah me too. Not counting Jenova Lifeclinger, this is like 2 or 3 times longer than Dancing Mad.
If we count just the Sephiroth portion of the fight (without Aerith), it's about 24 minutes long, which is (I believe) 7 minutes longer than Dancing Mad
Dancing mad was a slog to sit through tho. It was pretty bad

With them milking every bit of nostalgia dry(in a good way) yet they didn’t use a remix of birth of a god in sephiroth reborn lead me to believe there’s some plot reasons behind it
Waiting for Part 3 for sure.
SPOLERS FOR ORIGINAL:
Technically it wasn't Sephiroth himself, his actual body should still be in the Northern Crater so I guess they will be reusing it for when they get to fight the real Sephiroth in part 3
I assume it's gonna show up in the last part. I'm convinced they did bizarro sephiroth early for the surprise factor more than anything just because it's like everybody expects a jenova and probably a sephiroth, but noones gonna see this coming but that's just my thoughts as to their mindset.

I can’t be the only one hearing A New Dawn from Three Houses in the sephiroth reborn fight come on.
lol. Fire emblem and final fantasy together isn’t such a bad pair
Beat the game this past weekend. It's all i can think about. What a beautiful game this was. The post Rebirth blues be real
I really love Sephiroth Reborn Phase 4. That's the part where you're fighting as Zack alone. The track has this sense of looming uncertainty. And Zack himself even says as much in the scene. He has no idea whats happening. He's all alone in a dying world, Aerith and Cloud are unconscious, and the only guy he had a chance with got shot (Biggs.) He has nothing good going for him. At every turn, the fate of him dying to a squad of shinra troopers taunts him.
But that makes Zack so damn cool. He doesn't care. He's done taking shit from life and is trying to do the best he can from his angle despite all the nonsense going on.
That part of the track reflects this. It has this sense of inevitable doom mixed with a sense of building hope. Like Zack is feeling and thinking "just a little more and I can make it through."
It's no wonder why he made First Class. He doesn't give up even when fate tells him to.
It even has little hints of the Avalanche theme from Remake, like he's still carrying Biggs' hopes and dreams with him
i hear the choir motif at 22:40 a couple of times when listening to this. Doesn't it originate from Advent Children when cloud fights the bahamut summon?
Jenova Lifeclinger Phase 1 is just absolute chills, god damn.
Oh no, not Aerith's theme 😭
That's why every FF's OST is an instant buy for me

Please upload "No promises to keep instrumental ver" that plays on cloud-aerith scene in zack timeline (before aerith give cloud holy materia)
6:30 and 7:48 "Battle on the Big Bridge", just in case you missed it.
Nah that section where Aerith walks in to help Cloud was phenomenal. I want just THAT bit.
Did they just put "death batle at the big bridge" at 7:46? The sound used is very fast but you can ear it multiple time during phase 2 against Jenova lifeclinger 🤔
What I absolutely love about phase 1 and 2 is that phase one's music is emotional and sorrowful as hell.
You lost a friend who got murdered and it absolutely hurts you emotionally and mentally. You're fighting for you're life but it doesn't help that a death of a loved one is on your mind which makes it painful.
Then when it transitions to phase 2, all that sorrow, the sadness, guilt... it all turns into PURE RAGE from that point on. The one who killed your loved one is out there and he has a minion trying to deal with you and you're mind is set on killing those monsters who caused you all this pain and misery.
For some reason your profile pic appeared on the screen and I just see a flying gengar zooming towards sephiroth
I like that they kept the first phase of jenova life somewhat faithful to the original despite the story changes, no major dialogue, aerith's theme playing during the fight, and just cut straight into battle after her death cutscene
This is what a 49 minute panic attack feels like.
31:20 chills every time

FF7 aside, this whole entire ost mix is perfect for Elite Dangerous Thargoid hunting. You load up the game playing the first phase; flying to your Anti-Xeno conflict zone. You get there and start clearing Scouts. By then Phase 2 kicks in and the interceptors show up and all hell breaks loose from there. You destroy an interceptor or find a moment to take a breather to stretch your fingers/ crack some knuckles from being handsy with your HOTAS before boosting in another attack run as the next music drop starts.
I love it. I'm glued. I'm a nerd, I don't care.
