I actually disagree, respectfully. I’ve thought about this a lot and really think this might be the best team on both sides of the ball since I’ve been alive (1980). 98 was magical, but our D wasn’t all that elite - they played with a lot of big leads. This roster - offense, defense, special teams is Super Bowl caliber, this season.
2017 team was extremely balanced- great on offense and defense, 2009 team had a great offense and a bunch of great players on defense (Jared Allen, Williams wall, Greenway, Ben Leber) but 2017 defense was better...
JJ McCarthy was always #2. In the Vikings draft day video you can hear Kwesi say we almost moved up to 4 to get him but we got him at 10. That tells me it was always drake maye or JJ McCarthy
I think if Aaron Rodgers plays two more years, he may lose his ticket to the Hall of Fame. I know he had a bunch of good years, but man, what a disaster the end of his career is becoming!
Imagine…forgetting past teams and see the Vikings through the prism of KOC. He wins the SB with the Rams, figures he can build a championship team as a head coach, he deals with the aftermath of Zimmerman and now…imagine that a SB win is inevitable. Call me a dreamer, but looking over past failures is a waste of time, and enjoyment in the present is amazing, with realistic expectations of success in the near future. (Fan since 1971)

I’ve been a Vikings fan since when they became an NFL franchise. My dad took me to a game for my 10th birthday. I’m 72 years old. My first Vikings HEART BREAK was in Super Bowl IV, January 1970 against the Kansas City Chiefs. I’ve been HOPING for a Super Bowl WIN ever since that LOSS ! Got my Hopes up in 1973,1974,1975,1976 seasons and 1987,1998, the early 2000’s with Culpepper as QB, 2009 with Brett Favre, 2017 and 2022 with a record of 13-4 !
Been a Vikings fan for 30 years. When they have been good they’ve always found new and more creative ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in the biggest of games. Would love to see this organization exorcise demons. Have to give them credit for a fantastic regular season, considering the low expectations and that they jettisoned their best defender and a qb who always put up numbers- if not wins. If they’re going to do real damage in the playoffs then the one seed is a must. Can’t see this team winning on the road in Philly.
We have actually been great at stopping the run and mobile QBs. Philly offense isn’t scary. Can the offense put up points fast against their mid tier defense.
I think Barkley would shred us, and Hurts would find open lanes. That dline would collapse our patchwork line, and fluster Darnold into mistakes. At US Bank, we'd at least have a chance.
This year's Vikings team reminds me of the 2009 & 2017 teams. The 2009 Vikings offense averaged 29 points a game and the 2017 Vikings defense gave up 15.8 points a game in a 16 game regular season.
None of us expected us to be this good. No one. The hardest of die hard fan didn’t think this was possible. We all wanted to be this good, but there was definitely doubt. Rightfully so. But I love it. SKOL! Let’s keep hitting the gas
I absolutely agree. I expected a maybe + .500 season. And I expected it to be entertaining with this defense, as this was obvious that they would be good. But for the last games, the offense has been on fire! SKOL!
Flores is where his perfectly matched to his position. If he can draft and “build” a great D then he’ll deserve a 2nd chance. He needs to understand way more about both sides of the ball to hear coach. I think he was prematurely made Dolphins HC so he didn’t last long.

I could understand fans who liked Kirk and believed he was a good QB. I thought he was a good QB, and a decent guy. I never understood the undying devotion to Kirk from some fans. Admittedly I'm a guy who pulls for the uniform over all else, but I certainly lean into some players more than others. Kirk could never elevate his play, or the team, over a certain level and he cost too much. Many of us understood the first contract and applauded it, but it was clear after his third season it was never going to "work" with Kirk the way that many of us wanted it to. Then frustration set in when management/ownership kept going back to the well. It was like someone not willing to leave unfulfilling, but not terrible relationship because of the unknown.
The “Kirk Crusader” was a myth. There were people who perpetually blamed him for every single loss, regardless of how bad our defense was (2022 Giants game). There are only Kirk haters, same people who still talk about him when he’s literally on another team and it’s been 1.5 years since he played here.

I know that Judd specified that he was comparing Cousins negotiating skills to other players, he is not alone in Vikings history if you go outside that scope. Mike Lynn ripped off the team and even negotiated 10% royalties off the Metrodome suites; Brad Childress secured his hiring here by insisting that if he left, he would accept another job elsewhere and also spent much of the 2009 season whining about a contract extension even though he was signed through 2010 (the Wilfs broke down and gave him an extension after the 10-1 start, which ended up being a major mistake and probably the reason why KOC has not been extended yet). Why is the 2017 team even in question? The fact you compare it to '87 in ranks means a lot too. 1998 is #1 for now, but if this teams wins a bowl its THIS squad. Right now I have it. 1998, 2009, 2024......gap.....1987, couple other random teams, 2017.
The 2017 team won 11 out of their final 12 regular season games and outgained their opponents in 14 out of the 16 regular season games in addition to having a great defense. Yes, the 2009 team had more style points in their postseason games, but did the exact same thing in the playoffs as the 2017 team did (won one game and lost in the NFCCG), not to mention the fact that they lost 3 out of their final 5 regular season games after Childress decided to Childress and started his post-contract extension power trip. The 1987 team just got hot at the right time and had a comparatively bumpy regular season (above and beyond the strike games).
Case keenum had 22 TDS and 7ints 3500 yards . Id take this year Sam Darnold over Case . Case was more of a game manager where Sam is top 5 in air distance and 20+ yard throws
Talent and coaching wise this is the best team since '98.

I don't know I would have to say 1987 was my favorite team because it was the team that made me a true fan and I would have been 8 years old no I did not remember the quarterback's name even though I think it was Kramer but the guy I remembered the guy that made me a fan a true fan was Anthony Carter even though Chris Carter was my favorite player
The miser brothers shouldve gotten a mention
Spam is nasty Mackie come on... Salami is king though, all types of salami rule this draft!
Fan since birth - I wasn’t around for the 70s, but this is best team I’ve seen us trot out there, 98 included. SKOL!!!
Not even a mention about of jingle all the way
Sport dad is doing an ode to Eberflus
In Jud we trust 🙏
Mackey, so incorrect. Love, actually slaps so much harder than the Holiday and i love Jack Black.
You had Pat hair this morning, Judd? Haha
Our defense scares me against GB & Detroit. We give up toooooo many big plays on defense against average QBs. To beat Detroit we really have to out offense them
Declan spam not ham it's ham bits smushed together to make the loaf

Judd’s Shopping Tips!!!
I'm into defense. This is the best team since 2017, but with a better QB.
The Vikings would NEVER consider Rodgers no matter how bad he would want it
The pre-draft trash talk was a nice touch. Cut some promos next week.
Sorry, just can't watch 'Home Alone' ... I'm more of an 'It's a Wonderful Life' kind of guy. And also love the Albert Finney Xmas Carol ... For fun, love 'Violent Night'
When it comes to Kirk Cousins I’m a Kyle Rudolph fan.
Maybe Johnny Mundt is the one cooking up the groceries!
I can't picture any of you guys watching Bad Santa, lol.
I believed Kirk was worth the original deal. Never should have been extended. At the time and age he was he was a great tactician. We lost any semblance of OC after Schumer departed. After the first deal bad deal. Right the ship m
Can we please turn the page on Kirk. It is done and we are fighting for the 1 seed. Can we focus on that vs., this on going Kirk bashing.
In the end people are bigger fans of the team than Kirk
Why is the 2017 team even in question? The fact you compare it to '87 in ranks means a lot too. 1998 is #1 for now, but if this teams wins a bowl its THIS squad. Right now I have it. 1998, 2009, 2024......gap.....1987, couple other random teams, 2017.
So none of the Tarkenton led 70s teams?
The 2017 team won 11 out of their final 12 regular season games and outgained their opponents in 14 out of the 16 regular season games in addition to having a great defense. Yes, the 2009 team had more style points in their postseason games, but did the exact same thing in the playoffs as the 2017 team did (won one game and lost in the NFCCG), not to mention the fact that they lost 3 out of their final 5 regular season games after Childress decided to Childress and started his post-contract extension power trip. The 1987 team just got hot at the right time and had a comparatively bumpy regular season (above and beyond the strike games).
Couldn't finish Remeber the Zohan, still won't try it again.
Oops! Meant Zimmer…
That 2017 was not that good. Remember..all the top QBs in the NFC was injured that year. They barely made it to NFC championship game and got smoked
Case keenum had 22 TDS and 7ints 3500 yards . Id take this year Sam Darnold over Case . Case was more of a game manager where Sam is top 5 in air distance and 20+ yard throws
Don't really like era comparisons. The game has changed way too much. Let's see what they do postseason.
Randy Moss has made more ppl become vikings fan than any other athlete for any franchise.. hot take...
Carl Eller made me a Vikings fan with some help from Wally Higenberg.
@Frank_nwobhm moss and Culpepper did it for me, I've been a vikings fan since!
Miracle on 34th Street!
Jack Frost what the hell
If The Ref is not in your top 5 I have no respect for you😊
What about The Polar Express?
The Vikes will franchise tag Darnold and trade him to the 49ers next season. Write that down. The Purdy train is derailed.
If you dont think Kewsi wasn't smoking a cigar and drinking aged scoth after that Kirk game tin celebration of beating Kirk you are fools.
Dex is definitely last in this one, lol.
Sausage Party had the same affect
Phil wins the draft this week. A drubbing.
If one of you didn’t take Love Actually I might have unsubscribed.
