Dr. Olsen's passion for his subject is a wonderful thing. It is nice to see him summarize how he came to the idea of his online university and its success. He is a world recognized Tolkien scholar and everyone who is interested in Tolkien studies would be well advised to locate Signum University and explore the offerings. You will not be disappointed.
Prof Olsen is a true visionary. He saw the connection between learning, bring people together and the online environment to create an interactive learning model - revolutionary. I am a proud student of Mythgard Institute since its launch and have taken three incredibly enriching courses so far. The classes, the interaction with Prof Olsen, guest lecturers and the other students is brilliant. I am very grateful for the time and passion he has put into setting up this learning environment!
I never liked podcasts until I came across Dr. Olsen’s! He’s charismathic, explains well and fluently every theme, hard or easy, and has a fun side that (thankfully!) is not kept away from his work field. I love Tolkien’s universe and the fact that Dr. Olsen helps me understand it better is just one of the best things that happened in the last months :) I can talk highky (ramble*, ahem) about him and his podcast for way too long so I’ll go have luncheon.
I couldn’t disagree more about the “discussions” via zoom. I was hoping this talk would help me be a better student during Covid Zoom school, but I feel like he doesn’t acknowledge the experience of many of us who really don’t connect as well via zoom. :-/
I think his point is that online learning only works within the confines of passion. You have to be passionate about what you're learning about in order for online learning to work. And since it's school, most of the time you won't.
He leaves out the hard work and long hours he put in to make this happen. I'm so happy to see it all come together. Well done, Dr. Olsen!

I listen to Corey almost every night and fall asleep to him describe in great detail the world that Tolkien created. He is really incredible.

This ia the most inspirational video I've seen since the pandemic started.
Happy ninth birthday yesterday, Signum University!
He was one of my very favorite first podcasters. Can anybody direct me to the hobbit episodes? I can’t find them anymore and want to relisten
