Ans: Yes
West Indies, England and South Africa had a decline in fan base as well as cricket popularity.
Srilanka and Pakistan cricket are on decline, however they have strong fan base so hopefully they should bounce back.
New Zealand captain had to plea their people for their support during Semi Final against South Africa just like Indian Football skipper had to do before match against Kenya in Mumbai. So definitely Cricket is not popular sports among Kiwis.
Australia still have a good fan base but however unlike India they are not passionate about Cricket. They just have a good sporting culture.
India is getting stronger day by day in cricket but its boring nowadays. Let me tell you why.
Its India vs England match in London , but 80-90 percent seats are occupied by Indians.

As an Australian, I was in high school in the 1970s. Before school during sunrise, I would practice my bowling everyday. There would always be some other kids also playing cricket. I would usually play cricket with them after I was satisfied with my bowling. I also played cricket after school with my friends. But now, as a teacher, I don’t see any kids playing cricket. When I walk past the nets, I barely see anyone playing. In Australia, kids are now obsessed with the screen, and not many people like cricket anymore. It’s still popular, but it will unfortunately never be as popular as it used to be. I also remember playing cricket in the neighbourhood in high school which never happens anyone.

Cricket will be number 5 -6 sports by this decade in india . 10 - 12 years back there was madness about cricket but not now. Its limited to cities while in many villages people have shifted to other sports . Some major reasons are
too much of cricket, flat tracks not much for bowlers , big ipl and preference over national team , poor performance in icc events , star centric market , worthless bilateral series lack of tournaments which made some competition , lack in quality of player skills compare to old generation .
Future of cricket looks not great it will be limited to world cup and t20 leagues only

One more reason is our tendency as a human to sit for longer durations. For example, earlier people used to wait for their favourite shows till a Sunday weekend. Then multiple channels came in, then OTT and TH-cam, and now getting human attention span for 60 seconds in a TikTok or Instagram reel is also hard to get. Now relate this to 5 days of Test cricket with a T20, same thing. Making people sit for 5 days is horribly impossible. In football, an average match can only takes maximum of 2 hours at best.
One more thing is ICC's arrogance in not letting more than 8-10 teams play Test cricket or even promote other ODI teams, even when the ball was in their court. They should have let the game flourish but they themselves never took any interest and now only 1 country is left to act like the backbone of cricket.

My father was born in 68, but his childhood was spent playing football. In rural areas back then nobody had money to buy a bat. 1st cricket bat was made by a rural carpenter in my village. People did knew about the sport coz of radio, but football was way more popular on ground, even today football is played more in Indian schools. Only on TV we prefer cricket, because it is more exciting to watch but while playing everyone's 1st choice is football. In villages nowadays people have forgotten playing football because of the growing popularity of cricket. Nobody knows the rules in villages now. I hope Indian football get some some popularity in future.

Though I'm not a cricket fan but I think it's the only classy sport so from an unbiased point of view I think it's ICC which is solely destroying cricket.
Now cricket is played even by lesser no. of countries than it were played 15-20 yrs back.
See FIFA, in 1978 there were just 16 teams, in 1998 it became 32 and from next time it will be 48 i.e ×3 in just 4.5 decades.
When teams like Zimbabwe, Kenya were struggling ICC didn't gave them any support which resulted in death of Kenyan Cricket and Zimbabwean cricket reaches its death bed. Similar fate is happening with WI. Once Kenya was a great cricketing team. After studying the sports history I came to know it was major sport in Neatherlands, Irelands, Cananda once upon a time. Even English cricket popularity is in decline. The more dominant BCCI becomes the lesser other nations will be involved and it might become like AFL.
Entirely opposite happened for Football where FIFA is continuously trying since several decades to make Football globe-wide and they recieved success but ICC is trying opposite : more and more limiting.
There might be a reason because the English lords didn't want to spread cricket as ICC's former name was Imperial Cricket Council but Football showed a welcome gesture to every nations. And also too much ICC events (like every year) are also important reasons.
If ICC would manage itself properly then surely ICC WCs would be played today with 24+ teams.

ICC is doing best whatever possible, you cannot blame them. They are introducing T20 to the new countries, not ODI. And if they liked T20 then ultimately they will like whole Cricket (ODI and Test). Exactly right. Wish someone raises their voice for the betterment and globalisation of Cricket and those at the top level accept this fact and do something for revival of cricket. Minimum 15-20 teams should be playing the World Cup. It's called World Cup & you have just 10 teams playing it? Rubbish idea of having a 10 team World Cup. Cricket has become a game of money. Small nations won't give you that revenue, so you kick them out. Unless the big 3 nations (IND, AUS, ENG) don't suffer some big heartbreak in their progress or their Income, Cricket will continue to suffer. The big 3 nations, with BCCI as the chief head have maintained their monopoly in Cricketing World & ICC is happy to fill their pockets with income from these nations due to which smaller nations & Associates are suffering and in the end game of Cricket is suffering.

If you see football world cup now 48 teams participate for one trophy. Outside southeast Asia where's the cricket. There's no club competition here no glorious league like epl,la Liga or bundes Liga. It's because people have changed. The attention timespan of people has decreased by a huge margin during this past decade. It's not just afffecting cricket but movie theatres as well. People do not have time and willpower to spend an entire day in a stadium under scorching heat and humidity.
The focus towards quality has decreased by unprecedented margins and the ones who are interested in sports merely watch it for online betting and gambling.
Even a t20 match requires a person to sit in the stadium for atleast 3:30 hours.

Zimbabwe Kenya Namibia Canada Netherlands. Cricket was at absolute peak in 2003 WC. Continued till 2007. IPL gave too much money to BCCI and the only thing they care about is post match parties and tiktok. Earning test cricketer of the year use to mean something. I am a Pakistani and here, after the ICC World T20 in 2016, many people, including myself, stopped watching cricket. However, that passion was revived to some extent after winning the Champions Trophy in 2017.
One good thing that I would like to tell you is that cricket is becoming popular again here due to the emergence of players like Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and the good performance of the team in recent years. PSL is also one of the reasons
I agree with you that cricket is slowly dying. Australia won the T20 World Cup in 2021, but it wasn't even a major headline there. There wasn't any significant celebration in England either after winning the T20 World Cup in 2022. Now, their ppl only watch the Ashes or the ODI World Cup finals.
One thing is for sure, cricket is growing financially. Cricket stars are now making a lot of money through leagues compared to before. However, that spirit is slowly fading away. Even in Pakistan, you rarely see children playing cricket on the streets anymore

Even among them, only Indian and Pakistani fans give attention. For example, if you watch an England match on TH-cam today, 99.9% of the comments will be from Indians. Because of this, if Pakistan doesn't participate in the Asia Cup, the main attraction of the tournament, the Indo-Pak match, will be gone, which will be a loss for cricket. If Pakistan succumbs to the pressure of its people and boycotts the World Cup in India, it will harm the interest in cricket in Pakistan. My point is not to involve politics. I personally believe that Pakistan should go to India and the World Cup should be held there so that every match has a full crowd. But my point was only about India's monopoly and how every decision favors India.

Cricket is only popular in Indian subcontinent, outside noone really cares. I remember when England won the world cup in 2019 many British people did not even knew that they won the world cup why because football and rugby is more popular in England.
25-15 years ago Australia and South Africa use be strong teams they were even stronger than India and Pakistan on paper and now their quality as decreased a lot. In these countries younger generations watch more football. Especially, in Australia's case football's popularity is growing. In the last 15 years they have qualified for every world cup and last year in2022 they had the best performance when they reached the knock out stages and currently they are ranked 27th in the world which is not bad. In comparison India is ranked 102 in the world and gets trashed even in qualifying rounds.

bro there was only 10 teams in 2019 and 2023 wc, its because bcci told that there could be more matches of india so that the revenue can increase, as people watch more indian matches and also bcci is taking 36 percent of income of bcci and there is nothing left for associate nations. but i think that cricket is growing rather than decling as cricket became popular in some countries like nepal,uae,ireland,zimbabwe. currently cricket is 2 most popular but if icc doesnt take action against bcci then i think at the end of this decade cricket will be 4 or 5, and we dont want to see that happening.

I would add something as a French: stop the status differences between nations on ICC. Why France and India doesn't have the same status? They are playing the same sports with the same rules. So why does cricket has the worst idea ever with the status system. It's like if FIFA says that all teams who wins world cup has special status and other countries has nothing and less visibility. It would be a disaster.
Also, why does cricket still have ODI and Tests? No one play Test (only 10 teams, the special status one). So why ICC don't says "Ok we get rid of Test, if you want to make test, you create the International Test Cricket Federation"?
