  • In this video I am unboxing the Gong Zuma 6'6. With this 120L board I will try to learn SUP foiling. The Zuma is also a good beginner board for wing foiling.

That’s so funny. When I got my order from Gong I too was missing one strap. Contacted them and they sent it to me at no costs.

Yeah same here. But for me it was two orders in a row with stuff missing. Also they sent me the wrong paddle (30% carbon instead of 100%) already cut to my size. They really seem to have a problem with logistics.

Hi! Just curious - how is the SUP-foiling practice going?

Hi! I just went out for the first time two days ago. It was almost flat water and just to get some basic SUP practice. Didn't make a video as this would be too boring. 😂 Hopefully soon I can get into small waves and post a fail compilation video 😉

Dont use the front fin thingy for winging ( might be only usefull to reduce row/flutter in sup) , you wont see the difference but what you will see it’s your wing ripped by this fin it’s goes under your board.😅. Too bad you couldnt get a crusader but it’s not the same price, im curious about dead start with downwind supf foil. I tried to make my wife foil or even surf shes not interested lucky you 😅. For the sup foil , people i’ve seen have around 1500cm2 front wing in term of surface , i would start by using the same foil you use on your wing and see how it’s goes .

Thanks for great advice again! I didn't know the front fin could damage the wing, very good to know! The Gong Cruzader is actually aimed at pros, so very different from what I am looking for right now. Patrice Guénolé recently talked about the Cruzader in a long youtube video. There are two Cruzader "XL" sizes now, which are a little bit wider and make it somewhat accessible to non-pros. But also they are much more expensive than a Zuma. My wife actually windsurfs, so I hope I can get her to enjoy wingfoiling as well. My high-aspect 1500cm² foil would make learning SUP foiling very hard I think. I still need to research more on which foil to use exactly.

@@windaddict i dont think so for the 1500cm2 prone foiling and supfoiling, those are totaly a different game than wing foiling, you will not believe the power of a wave breaking ! so too big of a foil and you will get your ass kicked off the board suddently 🤣 that why you might want try it before purchasing anything , you might have the best setup already , with the curve xlt 2100 and the curve xl 1900 i got my ass kicked very often on prone foil, it will work for 20cm centimer waves tho. I totaly hindered my progression because of those big foil.
you want a wing that will be progressive to take off and polyvalent , people like a lot the ha for that the downside is usualy they fall very quickly because of lack of speed compared to lower ratio front wing.

Well I think the best thing is to start in small waves. Here is what the Gong advisor said:
To start with, we advise you to start with a powerful front wing, because you have to start on small waves, so not very powerful. The take off is not the same as in Wing, that's why you have to start on small waves. Your frontwing has too big a wingspan to start on waves, you risk damaging it. On the other hand, it will be a weapon when you'll be comfortable with downwinds!
