      Just recorded a pick. Had been putting it off due to thinking it would be too hard :-) it wasn't

    Great job on the key fitting,. It's a cool, simple system that lasted for years. Thanks for posting.

      Yes, it's a fun one to explore :-)

    Cool lock and very satisfying work to make a working key for the other side. You were lucky that the bitting was not too difficult. I can imagine how difficult it might have been to make a key for the other side with all the wafers wobbling around. Great video, fun to watch.

      Potti314 I underestimated how much the front plate guided the 'cores'. I should have put the front plate on to judge the cut depths each time :-)

    When you say 2 seconds it reminds me of a phrase that was popular when I was young. Two shakes of a lamb’s tail was pretty common years ago.

    Great job on dumbing down the action of this type of lock! I thought they were a lot more complicated than this.

    Fun locks to pick. You can buy blanks for the Guard side and the Renter side. Or if you are cheap like me, you can actually make yourself the appropriate blanks and then cut them to suit. Making them is pretty easy but a fun exercise.

      Another well illustrated and explained lock mechanism. Always worth watching and learn something each time. This is what the Fraternal Locksmith's enjoy,ent is all about! Learn something new everyday. Many thanks.

    If you see a number on the lock (may be on the back of the cover or of the back of the lock) try to google SD lock plus that number, I'm 99% sure its a yale too. Very like a yale 201 but different guard side nose. Good job making your guard key. Rare (for SD locks) that the guard side only has two cuts, most are 5+ in locks that came later on. I've seen plenty guard sides where 3 of the 5 are just spacers and it's only using two of the guard side levers. Good job making a working guard key.

    I have an Allied Safe & Vault lock, we gave 12 boxes, and were able to remove the cylinder of the Control Key.
    I have 5 levers on the side to remake a new key. Wish me luck

    Amazing inside view :D. I would have thought that the second key would have a similar amount of levers to lift, but no :). Very very cool and interesting video 👍😊 :D.

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, 2 levers is almost just a curtesy... then again, the security required to _get_ to these boxes is the key:-)

    I have an Adlake leaver lock that I need to make, or buy some picks for.

    • @NoctisMotus
      @NoctisMotus 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Adlake padlock? Try over-lifting. They seem pretty vulnerable to it in my, albeit limited, experience. I've opened them with an uncut, homemade blank.

    Nice lock. Good job. If your thinking of picking it make sure you cover holes up. I seen loads of people picking them. But never cover the holes up. In my mind thats not true pick because you can see what's going on . Just little heads up mate. They good little locks to pick. Jon.

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      APACHE-LOCKSPORT I see what you mean. I just recorded a pick and did it covered and uncovered. Either way, I'd call this a beginner-to-intermediate pick . Fun though :-)
