Wonderful piece by one of my favorite composers. In 1972 I bought an album of Bartok's piano music which had Sonatine, Out of Doors, A Bit Drunk, Allegro Barbaro and many others. I loved it and played the hell out of that record. Around the same time a friend played me Emerson Lake and Palmers first album and I was surprised and amazed that their first song was a powerful version of Allegro Barbaro. I became a huge ELP after that. It's great that musicians such as Emerson and Zappa turned on young people to classical music.
I had the exact same experience - I think the album I bought was by Tamas Vasary. I was already an Emerson fan and I've been a fan of Bartok ever since.
Such a stirring piece. I love the version, rendition, by Bartok's pianistic protege and countryman, Gyorgy Sandor. He brings out so much of the awesome resonances in it. The Pipes!
A smaller work by Bartok. But it packs a punch. The brilliant harmonic clashes and modal harmonies are played here with full emotional commitment. Funny how little works like these can symbolise an important time in life; because that is where you got to, or what you were listening to, but they were the moment you couldn't put into words.
Good day! I am EDEN RUTH D. TEJADA. a music teacher from General Santos City, Philippines. Hoping for your kind consideration. Thank you very much!
Can this be played as three separate pieces or does it have to be done all together? I am trying to come up with some piano rep for this semester but not sure if I want to tackle the whole thing in a semester.
@Emily Dewes - Of course it can be played as individual pieces. Choose your favorite movement and go for it. I think each of the movements can stand alone. MHO
I don't really know how to appreciate music in this style. Can please someone please give me tips on how to listen to Bartok. What makes his pieces so sensational? Especially this one plz
@Zian Zhou - free up your mind and listen to it every other day. Just listen. Don’t think about loving it or hating it. It just is. So, listen to it for 2 or 3 weeks. After that let us know what you think, please
Honestly, this interpretation (sorry to say this) is terrible. It has no resemblance to the original folk music rythm. But your can actually listen Bartók playing this himself to hear what I’m talking about.
Hello, Emily Dewes- Have you considered learning “Night” from Bartok’s Outdoors Suite? It is a fascinating piece and will grab your audiences rapt attention.
I learned the Sonatina for fun next to Bartók's Sonata and i found it quite easy, actually it just took me a couple days to learn it... but yeah i'm 16, sooo...
What do you mean by "a corrected version"? Were there errors in some published version that some later published version corrected, or that you corrected as a result of your own research?
There's something wrong in this interpretation: it's too straight, lacks dynamic nuances. And there's no phrasing, no rubato, no expression, as if it was played by a machine. Is this the case ? Listen to Ranki and you'll hear what I mean.
my friend is gonna play this Im a pianist too and I like the music and the composer but not the melody Im very sorry Im pissing of others but sorry thats my own opinion its like ancient eygpytian and I dont really like that kind of style
@@akosbarath7759 No actually you are the dumb one here. Yes Bartók was Hungarian but these pieces are Romanian because Bartók listened to Romanian bagpipe players (he even said it in an interview) and just because Romanians were part of the historical Hungary it won’t make their culture Hungarian. Next time do the research because you are one of the reasons the Hungarian and the Romanians despise each other when we clearly shouldn’t.
He actually clearly wrote it in a note to his 'Sonatina': „Eredetileg román néptánc csokrot terveztem zongorára. Ebből válogattam ki három részt és neveztem el Szonatinának.."

Bartok before transcended into percussion madness:

You are correct, this recording is a perfection.

Стилно ,прекрасно изпълнение близко до концепцията на композитора !

My ears died
@@sebastianzaczek same. But I don’t think have the time. Lmao
A Bartok composition that's tonal? Wow! Now I've heard everything
He composed a lot of tonal music.
You must be surprised to find out he had a late-romantic phase… e.g. his piano quintet

These are a compilation of romanian melodies arranged and harmonized in very fun and tricky ways. For example tonality, pulse are ambiguous
Just those modulations ahhhhh and the lydian scales all the twists in it makes it..BWUAH

Are you a bit thick ? Its obviously not a live performance.....face palm....
Trish ! If there is a melody - it CAN be played by the right kind of human -- who's a bit thick?
I don’t know the pianist, but I know the song was by Bela Bartok.
Literally was played by a computer program.
@DavidDaDummy - Since there are no lyrics to be sung this is not a song. It is a piano “piece”.
