    Hey man, really appreciate your videos and the information they provide. Would you ever consider making a video on SOCAN and registering your works? I have always been confused as to how that all works and how it comes together with music libraries.
    Cheers

    Love the content! Personally have had hiphop music placed with APM Music. Definitely look through a library and write music specifically for them, because most of my own music is either explicit or does not fit what they are looking for.

      I love this comment, it really helps to explain that we should find Libraries that match well with our strengths, style and skills. Not a Once-size-fits-all. Best to you and continued success!

    Hi Marlon, thanks for everything you do! :) I’d love to see more of the BTS, “music in the making”, it’s really inspiring to watch you in the creative process. And your kindness and positive energy is addictive, btw..

    My questions are more basic. Do you need quality vstS? Do you need to do lots of professional mixing of tracks? Do you need lots of expensive instruments? Do I need a composer website ? Do I need to put in one or twenty tracks? Do I need a professional profile picture ?

    • @MarlonGibbons
      @MarlonGibbons  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Katrina! It depends on the style of music you are producing. If it's orchestral, for example, yes you'll do well to have good quality sample libraries (VST's). The better your mixing, the better your success will be, but... you don't need to be a professional mix engineer. No, you don't need a Composer Website, but I recommend you be active on social media to engage with people, fellow composers and publishers. (relationships).
      The number of tracks you need depends on what you're trying to accomplish. Your profile picture doesn't matter as much as the quality of your work and how easy you are to work with. Good luck!

    Is there any way to work without signing with a PRO? I'm Asking For the composers that aren't living in United States and I'm sure my country doesn't have any pro for artists and in general, is there any specific library to submit or is not possible at all to work in this field?

    • @MarlonGibbons
      @MarlonGibbons  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Lusrian! Yes, you can still write for "Royalty Free" Music Libraries and not be affiliated with a PRO. There are tons of them out there. You just don't collect royalties but you can earn money when someone buys a license to use that music.
      For the record, you don't have to live in the country of that PRO.. meaning You don't have to be American to sign with BMI or ASCAP if you did want to sign with a PRO.

    Hey there Marlon I appreciate your video. I got 2 questions for you if you have the time. I know one needs to use a company like ASCAP. Should one choose the publisher and writer membership or is the writer membership good enough? Also do I need to get my tracks copywritten through the Library of Congress before I submit tracks to the music production libraries? I appreciate any guidance you can afford! Thanks again for the awesome videos!

    • @MarlonGibbons
      @MarlonGibbons  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Jahjahtruth! Writer / Publisher.. this depends on what you plan to do with your tracks. In most cases, if you're working with a Music Library, you won't need to have your own Publishing (because the Library will collect that). If you ever decide or have the opportunity to rep or license your own tracks, directly to a client... having your own Pub will net you more $ because you'll collect both Pub and Writers. #2. You are not obligated to formally copyright your tracks. This is NOT legal advice, by all means if you want to spend the $$$$, you can register your tracks. But a Library will not require you to in order to have your work in their catalog.

      Yes, I use "Publisher" and "Music Library" interchangeably. As for "Sound Library" that's completely different. I appreciate you watching.
