I think he's trying to use the pressure from the hot coolant to sort of help push the coolant out, but it's still a waste of time, and when you add the new coolant the difference in temperature between the hot engine and cold coolant can cause warping and cracks in your engine
HI Matt, I though it would be better to ask you here instead of on Facebook (less intrusive) I live in Belgium now and I am planning on riding on winter too, I asked to the many manufacturers of engine oils for their viscosity graphs so I could see which one would fuck my engine the least during winter cold starts, the ones that did reply just sent me the technical data sheet that is already on the internet and doesn't cover
Why do they think the thermostat needs to be open, as it'll close when the coolant is drained and the thermostat cools. Are they going to heat it up with a blowtorch before filling the system? I've never changed the coolant on a water cooled four stroke, I've only really owned air or oil cooled bikes and two strokes, but most two strokes there is a bolt or a balance pipe at the highest point after the thermostat that you can remove. For example on the RGV250 there is a bolt on the top right hand side of the rad, so you can fill and drain the system from the cap without an air lock behind the thermostat, if there isn't some sort of small hole in it
