I am from New Jersey and lived in Jacksonville for 4 yrs. Lived in Bartram Park neighborhood and temporarily moved back to NJ. I am surprised this neighborhood was not mentioned. It is exceptional and affordable. I frequented the Towne Center, Mandarin, Orange Park, Julington Creek, St. Augustine, etc., all are in very close proximity to Bartram Park, which is right on the border of St. John's County. I would not sleep on Bartram Park. Absolutely loved it there and would move back in a heartbeat.

Jacksonville can be hit by hurricanes, but they often weaken to tropical storms or pass by without a direct hit due to the city's location. Its position on Florida's northeast coast provides some protection, which means hurricanes might lose strength or veer away from the area
