- Contestant tried to drop the strikes back in the bag (twice), but Drew caught her. A similar incident in 1992 led to changes to the design of the game. This time, the staff's solution was to just play Strikes less.

2:30: she tried to do it on the first strike, but Drew said "Aw no" before she had a chance to drop it. You can see her hand moving to drop it and then reversing direction after Drew sees it.

@Bryan Smith The problem is the show assumed everyone would be smart enough to know peeking isn’t allowed based on the way the bag is designed.. But low and behold we have people like you and her that can’t do an honest thing in their life.
Everyone keeps asking why they didn't pull her for cheating. They would never air something like that, so it's best to keep it in as is and still humiliate her in front of millions of people.
If they did decide she was disqualified, there would have been a disclaimer at the end of the show.
These decisions don't come lightly, usually it is a joint decision between executive producers and CBS, had she been pulled off things could have gone very dramatic, the vibe of the show would go down really quickly for the rest of the taping, NOT something producers want to see - they want to see cheerful people, energy, excitement - she got caught she got her dose of humiliation - had she not been, she would have been disqualified later by CBS compliance / production. The show is edited and reviewed, there are lots of people in the making of the show, director alongside executive producers. Once you pick a ball and pull up you are supposed to continue, and not put it back down - The first person to even notice this would be the director, who would then notify the host through his earpiece, but yeah - she lost anyway. Karma I guess - She said she was a natural, hmmm, does she always pick the wrong balls ? :P

I’d say the ability to cheat on any given game is only possible if the game creators haven’t properly thought out all the ways one can cheat. So if someone cheats during a game I think it’s appropriate to allow it and for the creators to take it as a lesson of what to tweak for the next time. This way no embarrassment occurs during the game, especially if the contestant was honestly not trying to cheat but had serendipitously found leverage in their favor. It’s kinda like how Pop Warner came up with trick plays in football that helped him win games, though every subsequent game those tricks would become illegal moves, once the rules guys caught wind of the tricks.
I can totally imagine what good ol' Bob Barker would have to say about her trying to pull that if she'd been playing the game back in the day when he was still hosting the show. He'd have definitely given her some choice words that's for sure, i can just visualize it.
"Wait a minute folks. Now, Christina...what is happening here??? Hold on now, i'm sorry but you can't do that. We have to reveal the disc you already had your hands on before. Ohhhhhhhh, it was the strike. I'm terribly sorry, Christina but three strikes....and you're out. More games after this"

LOL yeah - Bob would have made a scene - did you see that one with the contestant who could not follow instructions in the numbers game, kept scribbling and writing the same repeating numbers, he was ANGRY, literally, and the contestant ended up winning and boy was he furious :D Bob sure did not hold back, but then again, he was also an executive producer - so he had the privilege to call contestants out :D
When you stepped out of line with Bob he would shame you with style, and usually... if you stuck around long enough he kept doing it throughout the show with callbacks and good jokes so everyone laughed at you lol.

Your integrity is all that really matters when your kids look at you for guidance. If they see you doing whatever to get ahead instead of doing it the right usually harder way, they'll think they're owed things easier than hard work and determination.
Eff that, I feel bad for her. Everyone makes mistakes, her mistake is on the internet though, imagine how that must feel :(

Agreed. By adding two more strikes, it statistically makes it almost impossible to win without getting two strikes. The old way, it was very unlikely to get a strike until there were only two numbers left.
Having only one strike in there is also less safe from a cheating perspective. If the contestant is allowed to touch the same strike multiple times, they could theoretically do something to the ball to mark it to be easier to identify without looking. Since we're going with a baseball theme, some sticky substance like lotion that you could palm onto the ball so it's easier to feel out.

If she had actually won the truck there would have been a disclaimer at the end of the show, plus Drew caught her in the act and made her correct the mistake she made (3:40). But only the exec producer (which Drew is NOT, unlike with Bob Barker back when he hosted) has the authority to DQ her if the situation calls for it.
In this case it was basically a "no harm, no foul" since she lost anyway.

Yes, while cheating is certainly unacceptable they could have done a much better job at making it harder to cheat. The strikes literally didn't need to be giant red balls at a minimum. The whole ball should have velcroed shut and opened after pulling.

Drew caught her but if she was just a little faster she would have gotten away with it. Drew should be looking into the bag at all times when the contestants are drawing out the balls. For a moment he had his back turned but she wasn't quite fast enough.
That's not Drew's job - don't worry executive producers are behind the monitors at all time, director oversees all the shots, plus CBS compliance - she could never be too fast enough, she would have been caught - production can communicate with host through an earpiece. She would have been caught, no question about that. The only way she could get away with it, is if she was a meta human and froze time :P

They had one episode from 1989 where a contestant drawn a 2nd strike just after he had strike one and Bob caught him The horn just made a very short chirp and Bob found it and took it out of the bag and he told the contestant "what you see is what you get!" and he drew another strike (they strikes in a row) The car was a Geo Tracker and it was still under $10K
Seemed simple enough right? Grab two, let go of one if ones a strike.. she thought she had it figured out. Haha

As annoying as this lady is, he should say they aren't allowed to look as they pick as part of the instructions. Also, the x balls shouldn't be red to avoid cheating even more because it'd be harder to notice what you're about to pick if you did try to look.

This is possibly the most luck-based game on the show. Most other games you are guaranteed to win if you know the exact amount, but with this, you can easily draw 3 strikes before even seeing all the numbers. Even when I was a kid it didn't seem very fair.
Yeah 3 Strikes is 100% luck-based. You are NEVER guaranteed a win in this game no matter what. A close second would be That's Too Much, followed by 1/2 Off in third place.
Secret X and Five Price Tags are also games where you can play perfectly and still lose, which is the ultimate fatal flaw of any pricing game.
@@damightybenstein, it isn't just that it's possible to lose when played perfectly, but that there's a very decent chance. That is, for me, the fatal flaw. For example, it's possible to lose Hole in One even if you play it perfectly, but that last line is so close (and you get a second putt) that it would be pretty hard to miss if you got there. So I consider that a mostly fair game, even though technically it is not. Then there's Plinko, which doesn't even really have a win condition . . .

Also, a smart gameshow host has the board manager light up that 2nd strike but does not have the contestant pull the ball back out of the tumbler. You wanna try to cheat, the game gets harder.

Its contestants like this that make producers want to stop playing fun games like this. The more people try to cheat at the game the less likely the producers will want to put it in the rotation.

That game set up was really bad to be honest, it seemed like its kinda tricky to pull the ball out and your reaction would be to look down to try and get the damn thing out. Like the ball can get caught and you drop it on accident. I dont think it was done on purpose

If I were the host and caught someone cheating this game, I would immediately rule him/her disqualified, no exceptions.
That would require a stop tape order to do the following:
1.Have security remove the cheating contestant from the property.
2.Take down the game set and replace it on the fly with another game(probably Switch?, Pick a Number, or another quick setup game)
3.Cut the one-bid and pricing game segment with the cheating contestant.
4.Shoot the disclaimer segment explaining why a contestant mysteriously disappeared from contestants' row.
Taping would resume with a call down of a new contestant from the list of alternates and the rest of the show would continue as normal.

The point, though, is that this is an XLT 4x2 with the base engine...XLT is decently equipped, but not too fancy. Affordable trucks (and cars in general) are unfortunately disappearing
