Good lord what a beautiful little truck!! I wish they made pickups that size again.
Alas, if wishes were Centaurs, maidens would ride!
The vast majority of Americans would have to lose 50+ pounds to fit in there unless it's a one-seater.
They do, but for other countries. Thanks to the Chicken Tax and lax oversized truck regulations, we'll never see them in North America.
@@Milnoc Yeah, that isn't correct; that tax only effects imports of light trucks. The issue at hand is fuel economy regulations, as light trucks and station wagons have to adhere to sedan fuel economy standards, whereas SUVs and full-size trucks do not.
My first vehicle was an 1989 Chevy S10 my dad bought new I got when I was old enough to drive. To save on payment, it was a 5 speed and came without power steering, AC, carpet, and even a radio. P.O.S. compared to a Datsun 210 that got over 400,000 miles that leaked oil but the S10 got 160,000 that got a blown head gasket. After the rebuilt head on the S10 the engine started knocking.
I love that someone had to bid on a sandwich.
Today that sandwich would be at least $300😮
I think Drew Carey would have just laughed about that
Not only did she have to bid on a sandwich, after she won, she had to pay taxes on a sandwich.
I wonder what would've happened to the sandwich if she hadn't won the showcase? Would the stage crew have eaten it?
It's a sandwich for a party but, unless they were locals, most contestants had flown into Los Angeles from elsewhere in the United States (occasionally from Canada or elsewhere) and were either alone or with a significant other, and I doubt Cynthia would have wanted to bring a 6 foot sandwich back home in her luggage so she probably had to eat at least a couple of feet's worth of sandwich that night.
It’s possible that the show gave her the cash equivalent and the crew ate the sandwich.
This may be one of the most over-the-top TPIR showcase skits. And wow! this clip is 40 years old as of 2023. Time flies.
It's all good old-fashioned fun relax Skippy
I thought it was cool. You sound boring
Legend has it that 1983 Toyota truck now has over 1 million miles on it, and is still going strong today, 40 years later. 😂
I believe that!
In Afghanistan with a machine gun mounted in the back.
And Scotty Kilmer has talked about how great it is everyday since 1983.
@@ostrich67truth. Sucks.
And just sold for $15000
Spoiler alert, that truck still runs and the TV still works, because back then they built stuff to last.
Nobody can get enough of those giant 19" TV screens in their living room.
So true…if they parked that truck in a garage and never drove it, it would be worth a small fortune.
I still have the same TV in my bedroom. A Zenith "advanced" system 3. Only thing that has ever had an issue is the original remote (or computer space commander as Zenith called it). I still use it every day. Mine has slightly different speaker grilles, and was made in 1984, but is otherwise the same.
The piano, too! Hopefully somewhere it's still in use. Nice wood job.
For sure
I'm a younger guy, but I remember watching The Price is Right when I was a kid with Bob Barker as the host, and he MADE this show. Lord I miss him as host. Such a charming and great host.
Damn like a month later and he's dead at 99 :L
RIP Bob Barker
Drew is great and still is doing great and is the perfect person to get that baton handed to. He's so wholesome and nice and personable and I hope that he does it for as long as he can.
Drew Carey was the most random choice they could've made for a replacement to host the show, but it somehow ended up working like a charm. Everyone knows Bob is untouchable, but Drew has definitely done his own thing and the fans definitely don't mind it. I'm far from an avid watcher since I'm not a kid home sick from school anymore haha, but when I do catch it, Drew is solid. Not everyone can be the GOAT. Doesn't mean you're not still great in your own right.
No he didn't. Marv Goodson made it.

If that’s a Toyota Hilux there’s at least a 90% chance it’s still running. Those things would survive a missile strike.
Hilux was never sold in America. It's an sr5 like Marty mcfly drove in back to the future. May be similar to hilux.
If it was driven in a salt free environment, it's probably still running.
It’s basically the Hilux without the name…
A similar model are still around.
@@JROD082384so basically it's a double helix??
That Toyota pick-up is a classic today ♥️♥️♥️
Probably still going
@@jimoconnor6382If it’s in California it probably is.
As soon as she heard that she could run a pick up truck through a wall, she was completely on board with this.
Those 80’s trucks were so cool looking. And to think we used to watch 19 inch TVs! Compared to our 65 inch+ TVs of today.
I thought this was a real incident, not just a play on the prize! But well done! 😀
Yes like some one off set loses control outside studio on grounds crashes thru the set
@@truckerkevthepaidtouristWell, obviously it was the prize vehicle. It very well could have easily been an accident, but I doubt it was.
@@bobby1970 I know.
I was responding to original posters comment and adding on
God i miss the 80s😢....the world was so much better😮💨
@@truckerkevthepaidtourist
Stranger things have happened; like the guy driving the pace car for the 1971 Indianapolis 500. After pulling off the track for the race to start, he misjudged his braking point and ended up crashing into a set of grandstands filled with photographers, journalist and others, located at the end of pit lane.
Would've really liked to have that Toyota. It's still running if he took care of it
He??? But SHE won it! Haha, I bet they fought over it. Hope it all worked out.
Love how the truck busts thru a wall like some of the Quiet Riot and Twisted Sister videos of that era lol
Who and who???
Truck was thinking (Were not going to take it we're not going to take it any more.)😅
@dannydougin3925 go check out songs by quiet riot and twisted sister ... 2 best bands of the 80s

Man. I miss the 80's.
I miss the 70’s
The 80’s was everything
So glad I grew up watching this amazing show. Rest in pride Bob Barker
Bob was the best part about staying home sick from school.
I miss those days... 😞
It’s funny the hero sandwich was an actual prize. The truck was stunning ! 🤩
I was applauding the truck going through the living room. Lol
I'd buy that exact truck today.
Better than the garbage on the roads today too ..
I still want Marty Mcfly's truck😎
This is RAM, Ford and Chevy country.
You can find them in decent shape if you look hard. I bought a 93 2wd Toyota pickup just last year. Love that little truck.
Showcase #1: A Zoom broom, set of headphones, and a paper clip.
Showcase#2: A living room suit, brass bed, trip to Paris, a motorhome, golf card, home entertainment center, big screen tv, years supply of KFC, trip to Disney, grand piano, and a Corvette.
(Always pass on the first showcase) 😃
I love when the garbage showcases are shown, the disappointment on the faces of the contestants shows up.
@@BronchoKyle I know, and the other contestant is thinking "please don't pass it to me" 😄
Sometimes the first showcase was better than the second. It never happened but I would have love to see a contestant who the first showcase was passed to say "I think I'll pass it to the audience." Lol 🤣
They had to bid on a Sandwich!😂😂
How do you get a sandwich home?

Holly was also my favorite model also. That's why I also watched the Price Is Right back then.

Made subs?😊
I had that same truck, minus the two-tone paint job. Sold it early 90s when i was moving to a different state. Always regretted it.
Man, old man! Thank you so very much for sharing this with us! When I was a kid. I would go to our summer cottage with my grandparents. And everyday, me and my grandmother would watch. The price is right! You just brought me back 45 years.!
Oh I’d love all the furniture and cars from the 80’s they featured, all so beautiful! I wasn’t born until 1986, but I love the 80’s! Such a wonderful show:) Happy and fun:) Times will never be like this again sadly
The living room decor looked more like the 1970's
@@sleepingwithcats5121Even better! I’d take it in a heartbeat:)💁🏼♥️

@sarahquirkyprincess7714 that's why he says she is going to decorate the living room...with this truck!
God i miss the 80s😢....the world was so much better😮💨
The Price is Right really shows the durability of the indestructible Toyota (Hilux) Pickup.
My 88 is still driving around the next town over. Sold it in 2002 with 189k miles... And my 10 mm socket somewhere in the engine bay
Can you imagine winning a sandwich on the Price is Right?😂😅🤣
I was just a one-year-old baby when this episode aired. That Toyota truck at the end was absolutely beautiful. I bet it's still running to this day.
I just found out that Bob Barker passed away. And this is the first video I watched. Good old memories.
He won The Showcase!
Reminds me of an April Fools showcase that same year which also had car crashing through a dining room
There’s something that brings happiness to my heart seeing someone win a big prize. 😍
That or just seeing old Price is Right clips with a younger Bob Barker in it. May he RIP

Not the least bit realistic. What guy is going to watch TV with Janice standing there? 😉 Nice truck too!

That was the coolest vehicle ever on tpir
Janice always had that "it" factor, IMHO. All the presenters past and present are very good looking. I loved close ups of her; the camera just agrees with her.
Nowadays, the item they bid on before getting onto the stage, the price is over $5,000.
That is absolutely one of THE nicest trucks I've ever seen.
Fun fact, that EXACT tv was in the shared living room of the college house I lived in. Ah, the memories of that ol thing. I miss it lol

Best part of the showcase! Besides that truck! Lol

Yep 👍🏻!
Man what a good looking truck wish you could still buy stuff like this
That was a might big sandwich. There is no way that I could eat such a big sandwich like that.

It's a Japanese truck for crying out loud. You Japanese?
The ones in decent shape still being a premium price for a 30 year old truck.
@@user-db6pt7vr3l No, and I'd take a Japanese truck any day of the year over a POS American truck.
@@lightsfansofthewest481 Aww triggered much? Smarten up and buy American
@@user-db6pt7vr3l No. I'm not going to deal with AFM, transmission, transfer case, rear differential, and lifter issues. Why did Ford have a class-action lawsuit with their 10-spped transmission? Why do GM and Ram have lifters failing left and right? Why are Ram 2500 and 3500s catching on fire due to an electrical problem? Why did Ford have camshaft and spark plug issues with their 5.4 3V V8? Why did Ford use Navistar's 6.0 and 6.4 Powerstroke diesel engines when they knew they had issues? Why are GM and Ram trucks built in Mexico? Why are American auto workers going on strike? You never hear anything this bad from any Japanese manufacturer (with the exception of the 5.0 Cummins V8 diesel in the Nissan Titan). Also, tell me why four different Toyota Tundras have made it to 1M miles with standard maintenance. And tell me why the Japanese trucks have the highest resale value in their class.
I cant believe they had a sandwich as part of a showcase😂
I had a 1983 Toyota SR5 4x4 truck back in the day. It was a great vehicle for me. I bought it used in 1987.
The sea shepherd called a ship after him. R.I.P. Bob Barker. Love that Toyota pickup.
The title threw me a little bit. I think you meant that the contestant has won over $25,000 total in prizes.
That's a beautiful truck.
The second Showcase was neat. That cue was a variation of the pool table cue.
Also for those 2 Showcases, I would have guessed the following.
1st Showcase: $5,000
2nd Showcase: $15,500
It's funny to see a 19" inch TV on a game show.
AND a COLOR tv!!!!!!
Kinda reminds me of the tv we had at the time. 19” tv, just no remote. I remember it costing about $500 back in 1984. You can buy a 60” for that now. It’s amazing that tvs are so cheap now compared to then.
19" was huge... but sadly... no Stereo.
Stereo TVs didn't become mainstream till the 2nd half of the 80s and if it was a Stereo TV in the 80s, they made sure everyone knew it!
This was one of the very few times Bob Barker did not end the show by saying have your pet spayed or neutered
I remember seeing this episode life as a kid!

The second showcase looks like a set decoration for the short-lived NBC sitcom We Got It Made.
Drew Carrey should do little skits like this. It really be entertaining.
Whatever happened to good corny entertainment like this, no one was offended and everybody had a good time
You know the PIR crew ate that sandwich between the next shows recording. That Toyota truck in that condition today would be a easy $30k
Who else knew that was Johnny Olsen sitting in the chair during the skit?

I wasnt watching TPIR when Barker was host; I never knew before watching this at TH-cam today, that they ever did "skits"/ stories from the Showcase Prizes
Always enjoyed these skits.

I like how Bob Barker was still old in the early 80’s lol.
I know its just a skit but how could any man in his right mind not want to be distracted by hugs and kisses from the beautiful Jance!! Lol!!!
Its amazing how cheap everything used to be and how outrageous it is now! That sandwich is probably $250.00 now!
