Great video. I just finished a diy on the 450 using parts from your kits, and it’s working great so far. I used the two drain holes for inlet and outlet, so I didn’t have to drill any holes in the cooler. I think Grizzly has discontinued the 400, so if anyone wants that size Desert Plunge would be the way to go.
Absolutely! Thanks for the rec. and congrats on your DIY build. We will also have the Desert Plunge Exclusive coming out which will be about the same width as the Grizzly 400 but with 5 1/2 inches of additional legroom, and that will have two ports as well!
I would prefer the 400 size, but the 2 drains mean holes don’t need to be drilled right? I realize they did, but couldn’t each be used without cutting holes?
@@Certified-Success For some reason, I cannnot post the links, but they are on the Grizzly website under Accessories. They are garden hose threaded not NPT.
Great video. I have the grizzly 450 with the two drain plugs. I want to pipe the entire system using schedule 40 PVC and unionist. Do you see any issue with that? Hard piping all the way around.
Hey David, I’ve been deciding whether to go for Modtub vs Dessert plunge. Does the modtub come with a prefilter for the bottom drain? I’ve been leaning more towards the dessert plunge esecially with the ozone option included, Modtub currently out of stock for ozone generators and total overall would be more expensive compared to dessert plunge. I just wish dessert plunge had the other color options with the 400 like modtub.
Hi! We provide carefully installed ozone on all of our tubs ordered with the ozone option. We have the Wide available in all colors right now, but next month we will have the Exclusive! It’s same height and width of the 400 but 5.5” more leg room in all colors. Its currently on our website for presale now.
The filter and 1/4 chiller seem to be below the gph rate of the 1200 pump. Have you had an issues or is the 1200 fine? Trying to use this setup on the 300 Ice barrel with your other dIY
@@DavidMausJr thank you. I will be upgrading to 1200. The 950 is only coming out at 300gph after the filter and 1/4 chiller. Hopefully the 1200 allows a better flow rate through the filter
Hey big fella. Just a heads up We order a 450 but your discount code did not work. Thanks for the info brutha appreciate it and can wait to get this fella plugged in.
I currently get bags of ice from 7-eleven and fill my bathtub but that’s getting expensive and tedious. So, I began researching investing in one that I could put on my outdoor wooden patio. I’m in Dallas and went down to check out the Modtub warehouse. The Grizzly and chiller seem good but I wish I could stretch out my legs more. I asked them about keeping the water clean and why they don’t have an ozone option but instead had opted to sell extra chemicals. They said there was research that ozone was not healthy. I am skeptical about that. In short, I don’t want to break the bank with a high-end plunge and, as you mentioned, the quality and prices should get better in the coming months. So, trying to decide what to do. What are your thoughts? Do you think Dessert Plunge is a better option than Modtub? Any other suggestions for around the same price? Any advise would be appreciated.
Love this question. And to simply answer, yes I would go with the desert plunge. It’s hard to say one is “better” because every plunge I’ve been in is “good” but all are different in their own ways. For me I like every aspect of the desert plunge, from the team, to the product, to the customer support. They have been great and I have yet to hear of anyone being unhappy with their decision to get one.
What’s up brother. Just bought mine and your videos convinced me. Made sure to use your code at checkout as well. I appreciate you putting the work and effort into these videos as it is definitely a long term investment. God bless 🤙🏻

I plan to so the same, which parts did you buy to use the two drain holes?

Have the Desert Plunge 400, love it. Thanks for the great review!!!
Love it!

Love to help!

Yep. I was able to do it with some drain plug adapters from Grizzly.
@jrobrides1340 could you post links to those adapters and a few photos? Sounds awesome!

Great video. Doing my DIY with the Grizzly 450. Is there anything wrong with using hard pipe schedule 40 with unions for the entire build?

What margin are they making above cost on all these parts
I’d buy it if it’s reasonable to avoid doing it all myself.

Hey hey! I just tested it and it worked. Code “Maus” should take off $100

Can a 6’8” 240lb guy fit, do you think?
Yes, the 450 Wide would work, or you can preorder our new Exclusive which has an extra 5.5” of leg room!

That thing is tool shallow.
I can’t believe it, Best Buy is now selling the ice barrel. The selling the ice barrel for $250 off. I never thought I’d see that happen.
They stole a popular diy build from multiple people online and started making it themselves and marked it up 1500 bucks.
