This time I’m building an urban decay DIY concrete lamp. I’m mixing Karma’s ashes with the concrete so that the lamp serves as a tribute to him…something I’ll always remember him by. I built the concrete form from melamine, and used wet sand to create a void in the concrete for an urban decay look. I also welded a rebar frame from which is exposed between the two halves of the concrete lamp. I ran the wiring for the LED light bulb fixture through PVC pipe, then poured the concrete over the PVC, so that the wiring for the LED light would be hidden inside the lamp. To finish off the lamp, I used some basic woodworking techniques to build a walnut wood base for the lamp.

I'm not an emotionally tearful guy, but pet loss always gets me right in the heart. It's so easy sometimes to see people we know from TH-cam or the Internet in general as if they have things ironed out and that it's more sitcom or HGTV show than real life. But seeing you tear up mixing in the ashes was a real human moment, and I cannot imagine a more appropriate tribute to Karma than to be the light in a room.

RIP Karma cat and my sincere condolences Modustrial.. i also lost my cat when i was 13 years old and my cat died when he was 16.. he was with me since i was born so he was like a little furry older brother to me.. and it hit in the feels when i saw that your cat died.. you did an amazing job in making that lamp and i'm sure that Karma.. where ever he is.. is happy and watches over you.. at the very least he'll live on inside your heart and the lamp.. man as i am writing this i got a massive lump in my throat..

this is such as nice tribute to you beloved cat I love that this allows his light to shine forever I he does in your heart. Sorry for the loss, unfortunately most pets do not live as long as we do do, but the time they have with us stays forever. I still miss my childhood dog 40 after he past.

As neat of a tribute as this is to your beloved cat, I think a hand built urn and then an industrial vault inside the lamp would have been more fitting. Just incase you ever want to move him somewhere else.

Having lost our cat back in September, due to her being old and after-effects of an injury, we chose chose to spare her the hardship of getting used to a new house, and new surroundings. Me having no memory of not having her at home, made it very hard to feel at home without her. Sorry about your loss, I know first hand how difficult it is to say goodbye. I loved the video. and it's such a fantastic piece, as well as a lovely memory.

Love this! I did a bunch of stuff like this with my husbands ashes, even putting some in tattoo ink for a memorial piece. People think its crazy but it's someone that you love so much, and now they're right there with you in a way that is tangible. I'm glad you get to see Karma every time you see this lamp. A physical representation is the perfect compliment to all your amazing memories.

As a dog owner, anything like this makes me tear up. With all my past Dogs I lost and the one cat.
My little one now is 3 years old, Her name is Minnie and my wife and I would be lost without her.
