Good day Papa, Thank you for this video. Please tell me why you used the Universal G-Code sender and did not run the project directly from Easel? Can the Genmitsu 4040 Pro run directly off Easel or does one have to generate and export the G-Code to run the Genmitsu machines? I have also done projects the way you did this one when using my 3018 Pro-Max, but mostly run it directly off Easel. Am I correct in saying that the main advantage of using the G-Code sender is that your machine doesn't need to be connected to WiFi to run the job, while with Easel you need to be connected to the internet.
question i have one of my machines runs fine but when i turn the router on all it does is make a clicking noise and won't turn on i checked the brushes, they look really good. Moter spins really nice thanks in advance
@@JohnColgan. yes, the potential for upgrade is wide open, looks like the gantry plates align with the aluminum extrusion rails. Conversely, I ultimately opted for the 1515 Queenbee paired with an Openbuilds Blackbox for control, makita router and dust collection system from inventables (modified to fit), it was just easier to mod theirs, it is nice. But then the table and all the other odds and ends added up quite a bit over $2,000. Whereas this PROVer could find a spot on an existing bench
The controller is used for this video was an older version of UGS, Universal Gcode Sender. It was the 1.09 version from 2015. I still use it at times today however, my go to controller that I mainly use today is the Openbuilds controller
hey pawpaw thanks for the awesome vid, i have had time with lightburn and d1 laser and i want to get into cnc for cutting shapes out of acrylic and wood as well as engraving with it i got rid of my laser i wasnt happy with it and especially the money i spent on it. anyways lol am i able to import vectored designs into the program like lightburn does? my main business is stickers and sublimation so always trying to expand and always wanted to try cnc
Yes, you can import vector files into cnc software such as VCarve and even Easel. I have many videos where I do this all the time. Also you can use SVG files as well in each of the different software.
I know this is a very old file but douldn't help but notice when you downloaded the g-code you had the easle configured for x-carve. Is there a reason you did this?
No, it’s is a post processor that works on all the machines. It was more of a default processor for me. Since that time I have switched to the generic GRBL inch gcode processor
Paw paw, sorry to trouble you again, but what is the flattest, best material to use for a spoiler board? I'm trying to find engrave some very thin polycarbonate and I had some issues with the spoiler board not being perfectly flat
You said that you set up the spindle to turn on and off automatically. In order for this to work did you need to have the spindle control on the box turned on to full? Great video. Look forward to your response.
The gcode commands only turns it off and on. Another line in the code sets the minimum and maximum spindle speed. Yes, you need to turn the knob to full I most cases.
Nice video! So... You can't use a v-bit unless you have easel pro? What if you set easel for a regular bit and used a v-bit anyway? That would work, right?
I have always found that bundles of bits had bits that I never used. I would get 1/8” straight bits and both upcut and downcut 1/8” bits. Then I would also get the 60 and 90 degree vbit
I use two software, easel and vcarve by vectric. With vcarve you need a controller for the cnc machine. I use Openbuilds. It’s free. In the beginning I used UGS (Universal Gcode Sender). Also free. You can use easel basic for free. You will have to pay for easel pro and for vcarve
I've been looking into machines, only thing I currently run is 3d printers, ive looked into the foxalien 4040xe but have had a change of heart due to belt vs lead screw. I'm now set on this machine but with the added attachments including the laser. How difficult is it to get up and running for someone not doing cnc or laser? Any suggestions or tips would be really appreciated.
I bought the same machine you’re talking about here I can’t seem to figure out how to make it work after setting it all up can you give us a class on how to make it work with Edsel
Great videos! How much X and Y deflection is there when pushing on a bit installed in the router or spindle on these machines? Is it a rigid machine for cutting or is it like a V-Carve machine?
Hello. I am thinking about buying this machine and i was wondering if you know or if you tried, what is the thickest piece of wood you can cut with a straight router bit. I hope you can give me some light about the matter. Thank you! (Ps. I want to cut wood about 50 to 60 millimeters, and what kind of bit should I use!) :) Hope to hear your opinion!
I takes very shallow cuts. The bits length will be the controlling factor. It’s may be possible but really pushing the limits of the capabilities of the machine
Nice video, I was hoping you would do some v carving or more detailed work for a review & use something other than Easel for software. Thinking about buying one, for me personally, on the assumption you didn't buy the machine, I was disappointed compared to the other cnc reviews of yours.
The gantry is pre-built as is the base chassis. All that needed is attach steppers. Spoilboard, dust baffles, drag chains (pre-wired), attach electrical connectors & check alignment for square. Couldn't be simpler. 40mins & ready to carve.
As you see in the video and the other comment. The base and gantry are done. Add the steppers and the drag chain with the wiring. Add the gantry and your ready to go. It takes about an hour or less to assemble
Hi, we have been following your TH-cam channel and are impressed by your professionalism and creativity. We really enjoyed your unboxing video. NymoLabs is a new CNC brand and we hope to establish a cooperative relationship with you. Our channel has information about our machines. We hope to communicate with you further.
Hi Paw Paw. I gave you a dislike for this video because you're using a version of Easel that I don't have and can't get. Since I'm brand new to CNC'ing I'm, using the online version of Easel. You seem to be using a desktop version with functionality not in the online version. I'm having a devil of a time trying to get my new machine to do something useful but it always hits a limit switch and stops dead in its tracks. I had hoped this video would help...
There is only one easel software! When you sign up you get easel, the same that I have. You also get easel pro for a 30 day trial period. There is no difference. There is a learning curve. I know, I had many problems when I started similar to what you are experiencing. That is one of the main reasons that I started this channel. I have 100’s of videos designed to help people just like you who are trying to learn this new area and quite frankly a wonderful hobby. If you have specific questions I’ll try to help and answer your questions.
nice,, do you think I can cut really hard wood,, 5mm tick ?? thanks
Yes it will cut that wood

Where exactly is the noise coming from?
@@PawPawsWorkShop from the main box just bought another one have it set up for router going to put the other motor on just to see
Had a look at this CNC and they're cool little machines, stout looking. I thought it a bit small for the price tag. Thanks for the review Paw Paw 👍
It is extendable from under £300

Thanks

Yes vectric will work on this an other machines. I also use the Openbuilds controller to control the machine
do you have to square up the board before gluing it down ??
Yes, it needs to be square to the machine

What glue and Kicker is that you used to secure the board and tape
I use the Starbond CA glue to hold down the board. Link in the description for 15% discount

What do you think will carve aluminum better?
The Genmitsu 4030 or the foxalien 4040-xe?
The Genmitsu 4030and the FOXAlien VASTO would work
Finally bought the CA glue, went to buy it a few weeks ago when you posted but ended up forgetting. Haha good video.
Awesome! Thank you very much

Very little to none
Many thanks for your detailed videos and review! What is your opinion about this machine compared with other similar ones like x-carve or bulkman 3d?
May 2022 - Easel Pro has gone up from $155 to $233 per year since this video was published.
Oh, wow. That’s a big increase

How much assembly was required for this machine? Why did you buy another? I've only had my 3018 two weeks. I find your channel one of the most useful.
