It's worth watching the last few laps of Bathurst 2014. They call it the great race but that one was truly epic
I'm old school Holden and Ford only. No European brands
Well, that depends how far you want to go back. When it was known as the Australian Touring Car Championship there were all kinds of manufacturers, classes and categories. If you're talking about when it was "The V8 Supercars Championship" from 1997, then yeah, just Holden and Ford. But I'm with you too, Holden and Ford every day, albeit a bit difficult these days with both manufacturers closed down.
100%
I totally agree it's not the same these day like it was when Brocky drove
They could probably do a whole video just on Whincup taking people out when he can't past them 🙄
😂 lol 🧂
Same with Van Jizzburger 😂
They'll 190 MPH down the main straight of Bathurst. Just over 300 kph
It's a point based system for the overall championship. Bathurst is part of the championship series but is also a race in and of itself.
I love Bathurst it's the only day in the year I watch telly all day
You can drive the Bathurst track, but keep an eye on your speed. I drove it last week and everyone of the locals said the cops love to sit there and nab people doing over the limit..
V8 Supercars are akin to the British Touring Car Championship, but remove the engine restrictions and add a NASCAR V8
Hi Kabir! In NASCAR, the reason you see them getting so close is to use the car in front as a windbreak and it's called slipstreaming. Also, you're allowed all of the fuel you want, but drivers sometimes gamble on having enough fuel to finish the race if it's close to the end rather than taking a pitstop.
It's called physics and not restricted to NASCAR and fuel you know, has weight so that affects how the car handles, again physics, so the gamble is walking the fuel/weight ratio line because pit stops cost time, these things are true of all motorsports 👍
G'day. The RED BULL driver featured several times here has now started racing Nascar In the USA. Shane Van Gisbergan (SVG) is making big impressions on the US racing.
Top speed is about 200mph. That is at bathurst coming down Conrod Straight.
Nope. 300 kph = about 186 mph.
New South Wales is the state, Bathurst is the City, Mount Panorama is the Track. V8 SuperCars is the Category. Bathurst 1000 is the name of the final race. The number 1000 is the distance covered on the track. 1000 Kilometres.
Just make sure you barrack for Ford, I mean it's your choice. So long as it's Ford!😉
there are a pile or rules and restrictions within the races that make it even more tactical - minimum number of pit stops, maximum number of tyres for both practice and the race, minimum fuel refill loads during the race. So obviously teams are trying juggle all of those during the race, though I have to admit that it does tend to have the commentators spending way too much time talking about tyre strategy.
Top speed is around about 300 kilometres an hour, pretty sure they mentioned that in the Bathurst vid you reacted to..😉
I think the better drivers make around 2 mil a year. not 100% but i think the Kiwi lads get paid a little better. but then both our governments will tax that shit at 40% lol
Morris and the kid Not leading a lap is the greatest understatement ever uttered. Dead last at the start, Paul parked the car in the wall and the kid drove the wheels off the car and only took the lead just before that slight decline on the run to the finish. Ambrose started at back with him too and the top 5 shouldn't have been there. That's racing
In V8 supercars there's compulsory pit stops and fuel limits.
You pretty much got it. They race in a drivers championship at different tracks all around Australia each round. In the season there are 2 longer racers called sand down 500 and Bathurst 1000.
Highest speed reached at Bathurst has been 327KPH
Who and when ?
Jensen Button in a F1 car
Jenson Buttons lap of Bathurst in the F1 Car is pretty amazing.
V8 Supercars is the name of the cars themselves, Bathurst, Sandringham, Darwin, Townsville 500, Perth Barbegallo Super Sprint etc are the names of each individual race / name of the track.
Bathurst is one race in the V8 supercar season.
No fuel limits just the time to pit stop is the issue
Bathurst is just 1 race for points, no less or more point than the other races, but in saying that Bathurst is the only race with 2 drivers, because it's 1,000km. Not all drivers are part of the championship, the way the rules stand in the top 3 cars all divers could get championship points to the drivers or no points could go to championship. Yes 2 drivers could get 1st place championship points.
The series has more than one endurance race that requires a paired driving format, Bathurst is just the most famous and well respected 👍
The best drivers are on about 1m a year.
Same cars all year ( races)
The super cars do have a season
300 kph top speed.
We Aussire are biased peeps. We have our favs and our dislikes. The rules are changing in Supercars. Makes it hard to get excited BUT it has been a blast. This kid has been following V8's since the 70's. I am so glad whingecup has left racing. I do miss Scotty Mac. Do love Chazzi ...best character.
Yez it is
The Supercars Championship is a touring car racing category in Australia and New Zealand. There are 11 teams and 25 drivers competing in all Australian states and territories, with an international round normally held in New Zealand; previous events have been held in China, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and the United States. The series is broadcast in 137 countries and has an average event attendance of over 100,000 spectators, wuth over 250,000 people attending major events such as the Adelaide 500. There are in general, 28 races across the 12 events with competitors completing nearly 5,400km of racing.
Check pre "Gen 1" races. More marques, more categories in the one race, one suggestion, Walkinshaw Jag!
They are limited fuel which is supplied by organiser's that way can't be tampered with
Same with tyres that can only run compounds organiser's selected and limited to a certain amount for weekend
You can bump but must be past centre pillar of vechiles if behind centre you get penalty and why drivers will try to re address
Before officials penalise them
Also vechiles have to pit a certain amount of times as well
If you like burn outs look up,Aussie super nats or aussie Burnout
Cheers mate 🦘🇦🇺👍
Top guys would be up around maybe slightly over a Million, as with formula one sponsorship has a lot to with getting drives so some of the drivers are only there due to backing.
The rules was the car had to be designed and sold street car at one stage had to be a saloon car or 4 door vechiles
At different times they allowed two door models but couldn't be designed for racing But street vechiles which ment you had to work with manager factor's vechiles limitations like body flex where race car are designed not to have this so was unfare advantage and why certain vechiles couldn't race and got banned
The last guy copped a penalty for the shunt…. It’s not a demolition derby.
Bathurst this weekend to be followed by Gold Coast. Big few weekends coming up!
Watch the American nas car driver given a lap around funny as
There is footage of a redbull f1 car doing a lap of Mount Panarama the week before a Melbourne GP. Worth seeing 😊
Best ever finish was bathurst 1977 Ford v Ford.
Bath-urst. my uncle was a marshall in the 90s and it gets a mullet right up me
Kabir ... It is a Giz thing ... never races any differently.
Most teams are owner drivers and are lucky to get a packed lunch.
You can drive around Bathurst as its a public road
They certainly the best drivers in the world
Jamie was a cheater
piss off mate he was amazing driver youre just a hater.
Round 300k
Shane van gisbergen who featured in 4 of these, won a race in nascar this year and is hoping to go full time next year
It’s ALL Bathurst.
Best drivers in the world hands down.
