    Great flight, its amazing how you can go from in a climb to hitting the long death glide so quickly, I remember that vario audio well

      You mean like me, you didn't know that turning in sink was a bad thing? 😏

    Thanks for sharing your awesome adventure! Can't win them all but I'd rather be there then at work. I'm working more on flatland this year. Good to watch and see that you're doing in the air. Helps me out some 😉👍🏻

    Was an interesting flight that I was low for so long think I normalised it. So was quite chilled on that low save . From there it got real tricky and me and Lawrence were on mince mode to get to the train station , can’t remember think we were one climb short but got a ride minutes after packing up and made the train back easy .

      Yeah, you seemed to do a lot of bottom feeding but did well in the end 👏🏻

    Interesting seeing an XC flight in the UK with almost pure blue skies and no grey bottomed CU clouds to help you identify thermals. Great video as always Tim.

    • @TimPentreath
      @TimPentreath  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, sometimes you can spot little very short-lived Cu, or even "haze domes" I think they're called, to give you a clue, but in the absence of them just following the obvious ground sources tends to work best (where they're obvious!)

    It is always good to see that the sky gods can get stuffed just like the rest of us. Thanks for sharing Tim. That business of climbing out from low is fascinating. Just saw a video that Marlon Jonat posted somewhere getting a save at 6 metres off the deck. He had the advantage of a slight hill but even so it was great to watch. See you in July, if it pleases God!

    • @TimPentreath
      @TimPentreath  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I had my fair share of low saves last year, but not this time! 🤞🏻for July!

    Haha, Glad it’s not just amateurs like me that suddenly realise they are doing 360s in sink ! I would still have been very happy with this flight though. Nice 👍

      Haha yes, schoolboy error! I was convinced I’d find the lift again, but nope!

    Great video! I always wondered why you were so slow to turn the core, I imagined that it could be that your thermals over there are way bigger than ours or maybe it´s just your style. Obviously we can´t feel what´s really going on but listening to vario and taking into consideration its delay, seemed that you just missed the timing on that one. Anyways, blew 1 out of dozens of amazing ones.
    As always great work!

      Unfortunately I don't have any footage from immediately before 8:29 so I can't remember the "bit of a climb" that I refer to. I suspect it was just a few blips and I made a mistake by trying to look for something that wasn't there...

    One day in 1994, only two of we hangies were going XC from the Dyke. Trevor was fifty feet below me in a thermal and he bombed out after 12 miles, whereas I carried on for 80 miles, for the site record.

      It’s amazing how seemingly small things can make such a big difference, but if they’re at critical points in the flight then yes, it happens for sure!

    I know that feeling man I know that feeling. Had one of those amazing days last year where I bombed out like 20km after launch while my friends managed to get a 180km flight.

  • @SuperAnatolli

    Well, then it comes to stupid mistakes, I completely outperform you! I wouldn't get half off that distance, and probably had been bitten by the rabbits at the landing as well.
    You need to land much earlier to impress me in terms of mistakes!
    If I had done this flight it would have been a personal best!

    It seems a tricky day, narrow and bumpy thermals in low levels and big sinks. Good flight anyway.
