That's how it was back then. To erase how people actually thought would be to deny our own history. I enjoyed the roll playing..well done.

Look at Ron in his best vest and top hat! Voting was so important to these people who had actually fought for the right, and for admittance to the Union. Made me think that none of our politicians today have grown-up in a world where they had to literally fight for their right to vote- they have taken it all for granted, and now, tragically, we may lose that which our ancestors fought and many died for.

With the gerrymandering of voting districts the past 40 years, we have lost the ability to vote. Most Americans are too worried about what Kim Kardashian is wearing to know or care.

As a woman and poc, this video just made me appreciate how much we've come in terms of rights. Additionally, I'm just so appreciative with these passionate reenactors sharing history in a more intimate and detailed ways. There are so many historical details not told in the school system so watching this reenacted and be available in video just made me happy (as someone who loves learning about history). Great video as always, Ron! 👍

That was really cool! I love seeing the voting process and the suffragettes including Kandie! My Step-Grandfather loved election time. Before the laws changed here in the 70s, it was allowed - and expected- for candidates to "reward" people who promised to vote for them with cigarettes or whiskey. My SG would set himself up on his front porch up on his mountain and wait for the candidates or their representatives to stop by. He would promise to vote for them, take his free bottle of whiskey, tuck it away and wait for the next guy! It was like Christmas for him haha

@@margui6224women weren’t allowed to vote because they didn’t go to war in the draft you fool. Why should we get a say in what to do when we weren’t the ones going off to die alone in the mud over these decisions? And in case you’re wonder only 30% of women even wanted the right to vote. After we got the right to vote America went into EXTREME debt and here we sit today. In more debt the all other nations on earth COMBINED! If single women werent allow to vote there would never be another democrat elected in America. Democrats have controlled the house and senate for 90% of the last 65 years btw. Meaning they are completely at fault for our massive debt and horrible state America is in.

Fascinating! Thanks for posting. My great-great-grandfathers probably voted in this first Missouri election. The family was Missouri French and lived in Washington County in 1820 near Old Mines, MO. I was thrilled years ago when I was tracing the family tree to find hundreds of references to one of my g-g-grandfathers in the Congressional Record. After the Louisiana Purchase the US government sent surveyors to this region on Missouri to record the boundaries of people's personal property. My g-g-grandfather was one of the character witnesses used for Old Mines, MO. The survey of the land and property in that region of Missouri was based off his memory of who owned what. 😃

Master Rayfield, I was glad to see that you got to exercise your right to vote. I, like my kinsman, was a supporter of Capt. Clark. I felt that since the French and Spanish had already established claims to some of the lands that their ownership must be recognized. However, some of the Spanish deeds of a league and a labor was a bit excessive, since many of those holding those deeds do not live on or even work the ground they have claim to. As to Indian land claims I feel that if they have done more than hunted, trapped or set up temporary settlements then they have a claim to the lands. Since the Indians are viewed as being independent nations, then we must negotiate their claims. After all, many of the Indians are peaceful and cooperative in having trade with the American people's, for the most part. At the present time many of them move away from areas where Americans have established towns and settlements, coming only to trade. Of course there are a few who get into mischief when they come to the settlements, but usually it is the result of unscrupulous people taking advantage of their child like intellect and weakness for strong spirits.
As always, YOS, K. E. Baker

History is history. We cannot look away from the ugly truth of it or else we risk repeating it.

so much about the information in this video makes me sad. though it true ,sexist, racist and just hateful thinking and ways of living regarding some laws and the way women,Indians and blacks were treated. so sad that just because your a women or your skin is a different color your treated badly . its not right or Godly.

Be glad we have made progress in those areas, which is important. There is always work to be done.

History is not here to be actively judged as one can not change what happened 200 years ago. History is here for us to learn from and not repeat those mistakes. You may feel sad, but you must be vigilant against the repetition of error and folly.
