"No, no, it's fine, see, it's completely fine. Adam's promised me that I could have this lovely little teashop tile so I could open my teashop, and everything's gonna be... a-okay..." "And the pineapple, Sullivan?" "Oh, yes, that, well, that's because I got a little hungry while we were negotiating." "We've been evicted, Sullivan." "Oh, dear." "Sock Puppet Sullivan and I are moving to Paris."
I swear... if Adam tells me a potato is a masterpiece followed by a 20+ minute video as to why a potato is a masterpiece... I'm buying a potato the very next day
Adam's "Okay, don't shoot me," demeanor in the beginning is priceless. I would never put Settlers of Catan and Monopoly in the same category, but I won't hang him for it. Hell, it hurt putting those two games in the same sentence.
Had some inlaws who loved to play Catan and I was so-so about it but I knew they (and I) really liked the trading aspect of Catan so I got this game and we played it. They were hooked immediately and now it's sort of replaced Catan. It really is a masterpiece.
I’ve had the opportunity to play this once, and it was SO GOOD. Super easy to learn and an absolute joy, start to finish. Couldn’t agree more that it’s a masterpiece. Can’t wait to see this one on BGC!
recently discovered this channel and watching all these videos has revived a lot of my interest in board games that slowly waned from playing the same couple games with my dad and sister, I don't have many friends who are into board games so they're usually who I play with (my mum sometimes too but she enjoys much simpler games than the rest of my family does) and gosh I want to play all of them they all sound so interesting but either they're clearly designed for bigger groups or I just talk myself out of buying them because expensive and also because the last board game I bought myself for us to play was pandemic, and that didn't go great, we played like 3 games and myself and my sister were really getting into it, the planning and talking things through with each other about what we could do and where we could go and making sure everyone was on the same wavelength while my dad would frustratedly try to hurry us up which became more of a pain to play with than it was worth.
I bought this game because of this list. Played it with friends and then the next day I had a dream that I don't remember but I woke up in a cold sweat and said out loud, "I'll give you 100,000 for a restaurant"
Even though my opinion of Chinatowns isn't the highest (mainly because I've actually had to go to Binondo a bunch of times and it's always a freaking nightmare trying to get a ride out of there), just like the rest of the vids in the series, Adam's explanation of the game actually got me interested in it. It makes me wish I had the funds and friends to properly get into board gaming.
For me, one game I consider a masterpiece is Acquire originally published by Avalon Hill. For a game about stocks, it's pretty easy to grasp and the corporation merger aspect makes it feel pretty unique.
Crisitunity. What a classic. I do wish you would have put in the Simpsons version of that scene. "Forget it Marge! It's Chinatown" Neat vid Adam and team.
If you wanted movies to borrow reels from I'm a tiny bit surprised you didn't think of Big Trouble in Little China. That movie was plenty fun and had lots of reels I believe would have worked.
I'd love to play this game with friends. Don't get me wrong, I'm shit at these sorts of games - but the gambling element plus the social tango with the other players sounds like a fun time.
This might be a SUPER WEIRD comment, but... I always look at the No Rolls Barred crew and I think "what a good looking, charismatic group of people who enjoy board games and have a good time playing them! I wish my friends and I were that good looking and charismatic and had the same strong gaming experience." But then whenever they do the severed head graphics I think "egads, these people don't look good as severed heads!" Don't remove your heads, I guess.
I freaking love this game and showing this game off to everyone! I remember a game I played with my brother where he convinced me to pay him $100,000 and then I ended up earning $100,000 at the end of the round! Which means the money I spent on the deal I just got back which gave me nothing!
Can’t agree more! It’s my favorite game and I feel like it doesn’t get the love that it deserves. I have never had a game with such tense moments then every game of Dune.
Catan is the oldest board game of all time? That's news to me, but if there's anybody who's ALWAYS COMPLETELY RIGHT about that very specific subject, it's Adam....
Goddammit Adam. You get me interested in this game. I want to buy it to play with my dad and brother but its bloody not available anywhere in the netherlands. Why must you torture me like that.
Chinatown is a fantastic movie, a masterpiece itself you could say. As for Jake's nose well...there is a whole story about that. He got his nose cut by a gangster type. However Jack Nicholson was legitimately cut and had to have stitches. That's a real cut nose.
I have a question...what if i had a 6 tile business and I wanted to put it in the following locations, 6,7,8,1,3,11 would this or what about a 5 tile business, in these locations... 1,3,7,11,14 could you do that too?
You guys need to play this game on Boardgame Club like, yesterday! I wanna see Adam beg Blaire for a deal like a pathetic dog. I wanna see Sully get drunk with money power. I need to see Rosie turn down an offer by screaming FORGET IT KID IT’S CHINATOWN!!! Give it to me! How much do you want NRB?! How much?!?
If you do a "Let's Play"... I need to see Sully and Blair as opposing players to Adam. I wanna see just how much of a "pushover" they are... my guess is they are only so in Adam's head. ;)
MauJusuPac if you guys are reading this. This is the board game for us that will end all board games. We pretty much did this in Monopoly, I bet doing it here we'll be next level KLLABLOLLILALBLOI
ADAM: HEY BUY THE T-SHIRT!! HOW'S THAT FOR GOOD NEGOTIATION: NRBmerch.com/
How Adam was able to sit so close to monopoly without internally combusting is beyond me
God I love the editing on No Rolls Barred at Daughts, it feels like a proper show I’d sit down to watch on TV.
18:10 Now I want to see Sully explain to Brooke why he gave Adam power of attorney in exchange for a pineapple and a teashop tile.
@@Veggieman87 😂You've PERFECTLY captured Sully's way of talking. Bravo sir!
@@Veggieman87 I can hear Sully's voice in my head while reading that.
I laughed so hard seeing Adam struggle to say a compliment out about Monopoly lol. Like a piece of his soul was being torn out of him lol
I swear... if Adam tells me a potato is a masterpiece followed by a 20+ minute video as to why a potato is a masterpiece... I'm buying a potato the very next day
A potato is a masterpiece though. Fries. Chips. Mashed. Baked. And so many more. A potato is as diverse and amazing as any bit of food stuff.
I prefer Put a Spoon in a Box myself.
I'll never understand the boardgame mentality of having something that sells out in days and then deciding not to reprint it.
Unless the company buys them all themselves and then pops em on ebay 😂
Adam's "Okay, don't shoot me," demeanor in the beginning is priceless. I would never put Settlers of Catan and Monopoly in the same category, but I won't hang him for it. Hell, it hurt putting those two games in the same sentence.
This sounds like it would be a WILD episode of Board Game Club
@@GuyrillaBraun I mean, WWE (and wrestling as a whole) is far from dead but yes they should play some of these games in board game club haha
Well today is your lucky day
I bought Chinatown immediately after watching this video and now it's my favorite game of all time
Had some inlaws who loved to play Catan and I was so-so about it but I knew they (and I) really liked the trading aspect of Catan so I got this game and we played it. They were hooked immediately and now it's sort of replaced Catan. It really is a masterpiece.
"It's Monopoly!" *slap* "It's Catan!" *slap* "It's Monopoly AND Catan!!!"
Monotan?
Well done movie reference
From WT canon lore, it seems like the intro is Adam saying "IM LOOKING AT YOU DENISE!"
I’ve had the opportunity to play this once, and it was SO GOOD. Super easy to learn and an absolute joy, start to finish. Couldn’t agree more that it’s a masterpiece.
Can’t wait to see this one on BGC!
I mean, you guys ARE going to play it, aren’t you?
… guys?
GUYS.
Support No Rolls Barred! Give 'em a subscribe and Get on Board! Love having videos on both a Friday and Saturday night to watch!
Jesus Christ, Adam, just watch Chinatown already…..it’s an absolute classic!
Forget it PaulAndHisUkulele, it's Chinatown
Forget about it Donut Senpai, it’s Chinatown
Forget it, Mack Thacker, it's Chinatown.
24:22 This "Oh boy the last round!" was brought to you by Quintin Smith, Esq.
Aw the way Adam says oh hello at the beginning is strangely wholesome

Ha! Hilariously my copy of Chinatown just got delivered yesterday because of how Adam sold it in the Negotiation games list. :)
Even though my opinion of Chinatowns isn't the highest (mainly because I've actually had to go to Binondo a bunch of times and it's always a freaking nightmare trying to get a ride out of there), just like the rest of the vids in the series, Adam's explanation of the game actually got me interested in it. I would love to see some of these masterpieces get played on the channel!
LAURIE: You're really going to like the some of the episodes we just filmed then...
We need more of these videos! The Master series is great!
Please play this soon! It’ll be comedy gold.
For me, one game I consider a masterpiece is Acquire originally published by Avalon Hill. For a game about stocks, it's pretty easy to grasp and the corporation merger aspect makes it feel pretty unique.

Will you all ever play Furnace? Just learned of this game recently, and it looks like a lot of fun.
Finally bought and rewatched this after my 2nd blood on the clocktower game today.
Friend: Do we have any games?
Me: Forget it pal, it’s Chinatown
I'd love to play this game with friends. Don't get me wrong, I'm shit at these sorts of games - but the gambling element plus the social tango with the other players sounds like a fun time.
I'm almost the same I'm just shit at friends
If you're a fan of mysteries and noir... Chinatown is a great film! Watch it if you do a special review for Detective: City of Angles. :)
I wanna watch yall play this!
5:29 that awkward moment where you can also no longer get Ra, Broom Service, or the original printing of Castles of Burgundy :(
This might be a SUPER WEIRD comment, but...

I'm at the Pizza Hut, I'm at the Taco Bell...
I'm at combination Monopoly and Catan.
Cant wait for them to play this
What a well timed video. I was just debating if I should buy Chinatown.

Been waiting for this one for a while!
In my opinion Dune (2019) is a board game masterpiece. Quirky? Sure. Long? Hell yes, but it is a true masterpiece
Can’t agree more! It’s my favorite game and I feel like it doesn’t get the love that it deserves. I have never had a game with such tense moments then every game of Dune.
Quirky and long? On brand for the film then.
Catan is the oldest board game of all time? That's news to me, but if there's anybody who's ALWAYS COMPLETELY RIGHT about that very specific subject, it's Adam....
Board Game Club session of this when?
10:23 Terry? el catador is filming this?
just played last week, and just bought this week, such a good game
Goddammit Adam. You get me interested in this game. I want to buy it to play with my dad and brother but its bloody not available anywhere in the netherlands. Why must you torture me like that.

the gag made me smile xD
I still love settlers of catan. I know there are better games but it’s the one that I can get my family to play at crimbo and it’s still great.
So... "Let's play Chinatown" video when?
I feel that Luke would be really disappointed that Adam had never seen Chinatown. Also, I'm really disappointed that Adam has never seen Chinatown.
Chinatown is perfect in every facet
I have a feeling blood on the clocktower will join this list once it comes out.
1999… Greatest Year Ever…
Great game!!
I hope they play this on Board Game Club soon!
I have a question...what if i had a 6 tile business and I wanted to put it in the following locations, 6,7,8,1,3,11 would this or what about a 5 tile business, in these locations... 1,3,7,11,14 could you do that too?
I like Adam's videos :)
I also get Lords of Vegas vibes from this game.

Thought I'd mention that this game is available on Amazon as of today, November 13, 2021.
Is that NRB shirt available to buy? :)
Honorable mention here to Lords of Vegas.
I was wondering, does the Zodiac thing play a role or is it just for art
Thanksssss
Nice to see Adams straw hat still going strong.
Why Adam, would you make me want to buy a game that is OUT OF PRINT 😭😭😭
This game kinda reminds me of the plot of Yakuza 0.
MauJusuPac if you guys are reading this. This is the board game for us that will end all board games.
We pretty much did this in Monopoly, I bet doing it here we'll be next level KLLABLOLLILALBLOI
It’s been 4 months, and I think I’m going to buy this!
Adam can we please see this on Board Game Club? Please Please Please....
Who the hell is in charge of the ad placement on TH-cam?!?
I just got “a game called ‘China*unskippable ad for lager*Town’”
Why?
Just… why?!?
I really need to watch the film before I watch anything else
Forget it Jdixon, it's Chinatown.
I have a problem. I'm playing Chinatown tomorrow but don't own that robe or scarf.
Wonder what happened to this series
Why does Adam sound like Vince McMahon firing someone when he talks about "the TRADING"?
The only thing is the cover and font is a little iffy :/
Do war of the ring
Seems like a game that is impossible to practice solo but sounds great when you have a bunch of people together.
Forget it Jake, it's Chinatown.
K TAN
Catan is a game Monopoly is a box with bits in it….
Someone throw me a line and remind me where 'peanuts on the up' comes from - been searching videos for an age now...
I think it's one of the Telestration eps...?
Im from binondo
Base monopoly is too long, but monopoly empire is a good game though.
I'm sad I like catan
Don't be sad, enjoy your game that you like!
This series has destroyed my gaming budget.
Do Pandemic! I know Pandemic got you into the hobby and I think it still hold up!
