In case you’re wondering where Odyssey is… I’ll talk about it in a future episode but no worries, all is well with her (I think! Ha) ❤
buona fortuna in Italy ;)
Great channel. Don't worry about all that haters.
Actually was wondering just that. Lol! Hopefully all is well.
Perfect time for an oil change
Why do you care of a Landrover when you have a G-Class?
You're not settling down. You are enjoying new experiences. Beautiful location. Enjoy every minute.
In Italy "siesta" is known as riposo. Shops are closed midday for three hours or so, that way Italians get to go home, rest, and be with family. Riposo to Italians means enjoying a home cooked meal and spending time with family.
Something the US needs more of for sure 🙏
Pausa pranzo?
Lunch break. Many shops in small towns in Germany are still closed between 12:30 and 15:30. Not the supermarkets, but the smaller ones. In my town, many don’t open on Wednesday afternoons, either.
@@sckxo__ this also means that their closing time is also sufficiently later than the US for a single shift location. 10am to 9pm, for example.
Nobody call it “riposo” or siesta in Italy. It’s called “pausa pranzo” (lunch break).
In bigger cities most shops have no “pausa pranzo”
Hello from Northern Italy! I’m in the process of moving in a little cottage to the mountains here and your video really resonated with what I’m going through now. Hope you’ll have a marvellous time in Italy ❤

Well said
OMG, Abruzzo! Both of my parents are from Abruzzo and I still have family there. Amazing!
I lived in Abruzzo for four months when I was 19 and am pretty sure I visited this village! It looks familiar :O
I have a 50-year old bottle of unopened wine from Abruzzo.
@@jennybrockartistyes, looks familiar.
isn't that where the film the American was filmed with George Clooney?@@1dkappe
Both of my grandparents are from Italy and I still have family there too
I spent 6 years in Italy with the US Air Force between 1968 and 1978. Absolutely loved the place - although the country shutting down for 3 hours for lunch did take a bit to get used to.
that s/b the custom in the USA ... united states workers are already overworked with virtually no guaranteed time off
I live in Milano and I can assure you that not a single shop closes for lunch. This “siesta” thing exists only in small villages, mostly in central and southern Italy. It’s an old habit and yes, it can be annoying 😅 nevertheless Abruzzo it truly a beautiful region to explore and I think Eva made a good choice. Vilk will love it too!
@@n_i_nx1743 Going back to 1976, we had to go to a supplier in Milano from Aviano for some building supplies. We passed a J.C. Penney store in Milano (major US department store) and had to stop to check it out. They were just closing for lunch. Back at 3. Of course, this was almost 50 years ago. A lot has changed.
Thank you for your service but no offense, I would rather live in Italy than in the USA. Happy in Canada.
@@PunchBuggyDreams Looking at the USA's demographics, a lot of Italians made the opposite choice.
My grandparents (paternal) were from Ireland and (maternal) from Quebec. So there is that.
I hope this brings you comfort for what you need at this point in your life! I did the nomadic life for 4 years, and finally settled down. I'm travelling in ways I couldn't when I was abroad. For example, I have a huge spice cabinet, and have the chance to try cooking lots of different foods from lots of different countries and learning more about food! Also, it's amazing using the same cup and cleaning it over and over, such a big comfort! It's my first time seeing all the seasons for a while, and it's so much fun to see the same place look different throughout the seasons and really be a part of what's going on here!
We just moved to Italy after being in Korea for 3 years. We were in Poland before that. My mind is blown by how dog-friendly Italy is. I can't get over it. I am so freaking happy for my dogs, they are older and I just want them to be happy, There is a lot I am trying to get adjusted to because it was so different than Korea and even Poland. Italy is a great place. Enjoy your time here!
Yeh , at least your dog isn't on the menu.
@@davidhardaker192😂😂😂
@davidhardaker192 I think we should normalize eating dog meat. I mean we have tons of unwanted dogs in the shelters. They are a waste of resources. Why not donate that body to feed zoo animals and homeless people
@@gecko2738 how does it taste then?
@@gecko2738 In Korea it is normal to eat dog meat. Did you know that during World War 2, the Russians even fed their German prisoners with other dead German prisoners? As the Germs died, they were just stored in freezing cold sheds and then just brought out when needed. Otherwise, the Russians had no meat to offer the other inmates.
As you sat down in a couch and Vilk joined you, he was so excited as if he’s saying, “thank you that we’ll now have a new home for 6 months” 😅🫶🙌🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I love how well trained your dog is! I see so many dog owners in Canada who don’t care enough to train their dogs properly. I have dreamed of living in Italy most of my life so I’m enjoying this episode and looking forward to seeing more of the area as you explore it!
This made me smile SO much. Your joy is contagious. Thank you for a beautiful time and video
I think we can totally have a lifestyle where we are nomadic AND settle for a while. It's also ok to change your mind about what kind of life you want.
Absolutely! Variety is the spice of life ;)
@@mirandatarantellaagreed 💯 :). Hello 👋 from Poland, my channel and countryside 🏡🐕😊
My wife and I recently took over responsibility for a neighbor's 3yr old East German shepherd male dog. He is a big baby, and the woman could no longer care for him properly due to health issues. The dog needs exercise regularly. We are 65 and in very good shape. I saw your setup of harness for your waist to attach the dog to you. Genius. It lowers the center of gravity and does allow you to jog with the dog. I am searching for something like that. Who knew? I didn't. We have some rescue cats. Kobie, the dog, is fine with the cats. Everyone is adjusting and getting along. We share walking duties. I take him in the morning, roughly 2.5 miles. My wife does the same route in the evening. We are happy for your success in finding a home. We have really enjoyed your videos!! My wife was quite firm and said tell her Merry Christmas. So, from south Texas, Howdy, and Merry Christmas!
Like she's going to read the comment and respond back you people totally crack me up and make me shake my head BTW how's your border issue coming along I was going to drive down there and help y'all out with patrolling and such but then I heard that the cops were harassing people from out of state that came down there to help stopping them for no reason and searching without a warrant and stealing cash from travelers and just being obnoxious revenue collectors so I didn't head down there had some great times in Texas in the past Vietnam combat rifleman USMC ooh rah and semper Fi
Absolutely LOVED this episode! Very emotional! Thanks for including us in the experience!
I just got back from Tuscany to fulfill a life long dream and I can tell you that I left a huge piece of my heart there!! Italy is just so magical and wonderful, congrats on your sweet loving cottage, may it be a base of rest and warmth for you in the coming months!
Your dog is as excited as you to have an established home base now. What a place! OMG, it’s spectacular. Good job on finding the perfect cottage in the perfect location. Can’t wait to see more vlogs now. I’m so happy for you.
It's been said a hundred times, but welcome home and so very happy for you. Enjoy your place and your peace! Can't wait to follow you on your continued journey.
So pleased to see you so enthusiastic and joyful about this new chapter in your life! Congratulations, Eva!
Warm regards, Violeta.
Eva, you and a fellow world traveler, Noraly (ItchyBoots) are “living the dream,” at the ripe age where you have experience so much of the world…we all envy the adventurous spirit, both you and Noraly have shared with their fans…your videos open the world to us by showing the viewer, there’s so much more beauty in the world than what’s currently going on in major cities around the world…thx Eva….and Vilk….

So happy for you Eva. What a lovely home you have rented for you & the beautiful Vilk. I'm looking forward to your next videos of the beautiful countryside in Italy. Wishing you both all the best!
You look really at ease and happy, so you must be going in the right direction !
To say I am happy for you is a massive understatement. May you have many hours of joy in your home. Love You, GregW
I’m glad you’re getting a base camp, and the place you rented is fabulous. It all feels like good self care.
Olives aren't usually eaten straight from the tree as they contain oleuropein which makes them extremely bitter. I was like, "uhoh" when you went to take a bite. Olives should be brined (often in lye water). Beautiful place you picked. I hope you enjoy every "stationary" moment.
I had no clue lye water was used to brine olives. My brain went "wouldn't that kill you?" as I only know lye water as the stuff you use to make soap and I know how dangerous that process can be. Didn't have a clue about its use in food preservation 😅
'Follow your heart" is a very good plan. I wandered until the feeling to settle came gracefully at 45. Have fun, Eva.
Congratulations from America!
Whaaat I wasn't expecting this lol. I'm from Italy but have been travelling for the last 2.5 years and I'm currently in South America. I see your videos since before starting travelling and I think it helped me taking that hard decision. And it might sound crazy, but just like you, a few months ago I started to miss home so much, I started to miss sleeping in the same confy bed every night, planting, seeing it grow and picking the fruits, and spend my energies to build more durable things than to move and start again from the beginning every 2-3 months, sometimes less. So as I was changing, I was empathizing so much with you, and now I'm so happy that you've found a nice place to call home for some months, and you found it in my beautiful Italy!! I hope you'll feel amazing there, ENJOY THE FOOOOOD!! In a few months I'll go back and it would be nice to see you if you're planning to travel to other places in Italy (I'm sure you are lol). So I have a suggestion for you: Valtellina, in Lombardy. It's in the Alps, so the nature is wonderful, expecially for you that like hiking, and there is so much typical food, but that's normal in Italy 😅
Enjoy!!
You seem so happy! It must be what is needed. Thanks for bringing us along!😊
There is nothing wrong needing to slow down, pause, and rest. The fact you’ve been on the run for 6 years is already mind blowing! Your body and mind needs the restoration and this little cottage is absolutely perfect! I’m sure you’ll share more amazing stories soon! Celebrating you, Eva!
yeah, time to contribute to society.
Happy you've found a place you can return to! Looks absolutely amazing! You and Vilk enjoy that mountain!
I used to live in northern Italy when I was a kid and absolutely remember loving the small streets and little alleyways in the town I lived in. Excited to see your adventures in Italy!
Goditela fino in fondo ❤
Being from the US, I appreciate that you have older buildings than anything we can see here. I want to visit Sicily and see where my ancestors lived, but have to find more info first.
Si....arte, storia, gastronomia, natura....
Ma niente lavoro. Stipendi ridicoli.
Welcome to central Italy. The Gran Sasso is always something spectacular and you will discover that there are enchanting places with national parks between Lazio, Abruzzo and Molise. We recommend skiing in Campo Felice or Ovindoli, the season will open soon.
A hug to Vilk and may you settle in well. Greetings from Frosinone City from me and my furry brother Aegon, a super nice golden retriever.
Castellucio di Norcia in Umbria is also a very beautiful place to explore.
Wow, a place full of history. So remote, yet full of life. Can't wait to see more and follow your current journey 👌🎶🌺
When I lived in Malta the siesta was one of my favourite features of Mediterranean life, especially in the hotter times of year. If it was too hot and humid to sleep easily over night, then a few hours catch-up in the afternoon was ideal, especially after a cheese salad lunch and a glass or two of local red wine. I love the Italian villages. Usually you can find a little back alley restaurant serving the most delicious food. Hope you enjoy as much as I did.
Glad to see that you love your new (temporary) home. Best wishes on your next few months. BTW, Olives have to be processed in lye or a brine solution before they can be eaten! 😎
I love so si SO SO much your vídeos! Thanks Ford chering a tiny piece of your life❤❤❤❤

I've been with your channel from the beginning of it and and I'm so happy for you, Eva. You are living the greatest life anyone could ask for. Good luck with everything. You deserve all the happiness.
Levi you are soooo obviously one of those involuntarily celibate types that give most of your paycheck to the onlyfans. Soooo obvious.
Good to see you as happy as one should be, because a home is a place in you no matter where you lay your had an everyone is welcome! You bring joy to me with your happiness in good or bad situations!
I am so glad you and Vilk are back. You’re going to love Italy and I look forward to sharing your adventures. Thanks for who you are and what you do.
I can so relate when you say you have been travelling your whole life wondering whats the meaning of home. Going through it myself now, I can definitely understand that how much we wanted to feel belonged in a place but at the same also wanted to feel like our curiousity is being filled with adventure and wander. We can have both eventually i believe but also it is also important to understand the importance of creating that peace and sense of belonging which can be built in ourselves. Looking forward to your journey in search of the version of home for you, Eva !
Good luck in your new home. You share so much of yourself and life, that is inevitable that me ( and your all your viewers) end up loving you and wishing you the best!

Eva Hi im loving all your travels, I'm 65 and live in Oregon USA, watching you travel the World is so cool, love your new place in Italy, stay Safe.
An interesting thing I learned about Italian olives is that they are smaller and more mitter and are generally used for oil, not eating. Eating olives are from Greece. I was amazed at the number olive trees in Italy. It seemed as though every home had at least one tree.
You can eat those also, just need to be prepared, it cannot be straight from the tree.
They need to bee cured in salted water. It's a process for several times. Olives are a delicacy 💚👌
I cannot wait to follow along on this new adventure! What a cottage, wow!
I watched your video series on Syria a few years ago and I was honestly amazed. It was great content.
Italy is a beautiful country and I hope to go there some day to find where some of my ancestry comes from.
I've always love the "addicting food" as you put it. The people are warm and friendly, the language and heritage is beautiful. The architecture and fashion are also amazing.
Keep it coming Eva.

Droga Evo,
Witaj z powrotem!
Abruzja, z jej zapierającymi dech w piersiach krajobrazami i spokojną atmosferą, oferuje Ci idealne miejsce do zastanowienia się i rozważenia nowych planów.
z serdecznymi pozdrowieniami z Wiednia,
Walter

I am actually more excited for this Italy phase than Poland, even though I do want to see more of the mountains there. Eva .... Many Mediterranean countries observe a mid-afternoon rest period (aka Siesta). 1pm to 3pm is often the 🥵 hottest period of the day. So the businesses close after lunch. You will also learn that businesses return to work at 3pm and will work late the evening 9 to 11 pm. So you can get a repairman after 6pm instead of waiting until the next day.
Learn the work/eating schedules.
The to meditation is to QUIET YOUR MIND ... Stop Thinking. Let you mind wander the ethereal ... Like you let you body wander the wilderness or the village.
Yeah she says it in the video after going to the gas station
So if they work until 11 pm then they have a 12 hour work day if they go from 8 am until 12:00 pm then the three hour break. They don't work 12 hours a day there.
I’m so excited to virtually move to Italy with you! Can’t wait for the adventures ahead. You’ve already taught me to bring a big purse for the ginormous keys. 😂

Oh Wow!! Abruzzo!! I am so excited for you !! My husband and I purchased an amazing apartment in Abruzzo just last year, as our plan was to move there sometime this year. Unfortunately, in 2018, my husband was randomly shot whilst walking to the train station in Baltimore to travel to work in DC . From that Trauma, his mental health took a steep downturn this past January to where we have recently learned he has developed Lewy Body Dementia, now in very late stages!! He will now never get to enjoy living in our Italian apartment, and as I am uncertain of my own future, our apartment sits vacant until I can get back there to either fulfill our dream of retirement there, or just spend a few months a year in Magnificent Abruzzo!! Like you, I love hiking, Running, love the snow, and I'm drawn to mountains ... so Abruzzo was the best choice for us.
I am so looking forward to following this next very exciting chapter in your amazing life... and for now, I will live vicariously through your much loved TH-cam Chanell... Relax and Enjoy Italy/Abruzzo Eva XO
