Nice video. I bought a Agriease ballast box and didn't want to fill it with useless dirt, gravel, sand or concrete - so I started thinking about all the stuff that I have hanging on the walls or leaning in the corners of my shop and decided to create usable ballast. I collected my two bottle jacks, my chain coma long, six tow chains, axe, hookaroon, pry bar, bolt cutter, pull rake and attached a shovel clamp on the outside. Works well for me and gives me wall space while keeping all this stuff I seldom use - in one place. When it gets dusty, I blow it out with a leaf blower.

Great info…I just purchased a Deere 2025 with
front snowblower. Now I know what I should do with ballast box. Many thanks!

Nice work. I fill the box with metal chains. That way can empty the box if need to move it or transport it easily.

Nice job and thanks for the ideas. If you haven’t already done it you could just glue couplers are the top of them and it would stick up and give a clean edge if you build a cover.

looks good. can you take a measurement from the top of the concrete to the top of the box? it looks like about 10 inches?

Watched your vid again and I think your idea to lengthen the PVC tubes a bit and cover the open part of your ballast box so it won't get filled with leaves, branches, and crap. Have you used the ballast to move boat and trailers with your new bolt-on hitch receiver? I like that idea. 👍🏽🙂

4bags 80# = 320# If you only added a couple of gallons of water that is ~340#
The wt. of the box might bring the total to 500#, which is a pretty good amount for that small tractor. If you have the owner's manual it will discuss ballast amounts. Pulling trailers from behind that box might make you too tail heavy, be careful.
    Enjoy your new tool.

I like the idea of the tubes on the side but my only concern is that in colder weather they might snap off and would not be easily replaced . Why didn't you use some sort of metal pipe?

I love what you did with the ballast box! Do you have drawings for how you built the ballast box dolly?

No. I just bought a 4x4, cut it up, attached everything with timber screws and tossed some casters under it

Maniac here, I have a nice old heavy duty rubbery plastic toll box that I keep may chains in to keep then new looking that sits in the weight box work good. Water seems to not get inside, wish I could find a tool box like that today but can't

Great job. I just picked up one of these JD balast boxes at a yard sale for $50 AUD (about $34 USD). Looked up the price on line and they are over $1000 AUD to buy new. Bargain!

Nicely done. You'll get some good work from the 1025r. I just released a video showing a concrete ballast (quick-hitch compatible) that i made. Like your ballast set-up and liked your country spray paint song of John Deere green 🙂 . That will be a hit (smile). Have a fine week and a good Christmas. New Subscriber!

Kyle Flanagan nope. I don’t have anything really heavy for a trailer anyway
