I saw this live with Tom Hewitt. Then later I heard Terrence Mann was taking over the role of Frank n' Furter and I never ran to a theater so fast in my life to get a ticket. I HAD to see him. He was absolutely fantastic and the audience went berserk. It was a night I'll never forget.
Straight as a line, yet he plays bent Dr. Frank so well. : ) A recent interview from 'Pippin' had Terrence and his wife Charlotte discussing his high-heels from 'RHS'. Apparently it's something all men should try.
A good Brad and Janet, who actually act and deliver their lines well rather than just comically! I like Mann better than Hewitt as Frank too for this production.
@eyeshine09 You've seen Tim Curry do it live on stage? Or are you comparing the movie to the stage production? Movies have the benefit of second-takes and a controlled environment. It takes a helluva talent to strut the lingerie and interact spontaneously every night with a live RH audience. Curry was a fan of this production and Terry's version of Frank.
@boynamedalexxx theres actually quite a few recordings with her as Janet but yea she did leave and Kristen Lee Kelly took over the role of Janet. Kristen also recorded Joans Jett part of Columbia on the cast recording and there are a few recordings out there with her playing the role of columbia seeing as she was Joan Jetts understudy originally.
It's amazing that two of my favorite actors, Terrence Mann and Anthony Stewart Head, have *both* played this role, and I love them both! In fact, I've loved every actor to portray this role...but these two (along with Tim Curry) kind of rule! :) :) :)
I didn't mean me personally, I meant straight men. I for one LOVE this character. The so-called "creepiness" is meant to add a third dimension to the character's parsonality, & by doing so, adds a level of suspense to the audience, because if he'll do this for people he just met, what ELSE will he do? This is without a doubt my favorite show/character. He carries the Harley R. Jackson seal of approval ("Charles Atlas" reference)! He makes me SHIVER with antici...................pation.
Omg. Legit sometimes have to watch things like this after rewatching sense8 to remind myself how much if a Boss human he is. But then i also watch these after sense8 and go “i dont know how Im supposed to feel about him anymore”
Hey I just thought I'd let u know and I'm not doing this to be a jerk but thats not sebastian bach as riff in this. I have this dvd thats Jason Whooten.
My point is nobody deserves to be judged based off of gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, race, or choice of clothing. The only thing that should matter is how good of a person you are. If someone's gay, but a good person, i'll hang out with them. But, if they're gay, and they're a dick to everybody, I'm not avoiding them because they're gay, I'm avoiding them because they're an asshole. I don't care if they're gay or not, just want them to be cool around people, & not a jerk to everyone.
My second point is that if ur straight, girls tend to be more comfortable around a man who has tolerance for seperate cultures, which gives you the chance to ask her out & get a "Yes.'' When I said the antici...pation thing, I meant I like this character the best in the show. He's the funniest.
Terry could shave his head and paint himself green and still have to shoo away swooning women. I do have a problem with him looking sexier in lingerie and heels than I could ever have a hope to look. *grumble*
That awkward moment when you go to listen to the original cast of Les Miserables, but can't because the only thought in your mind is...Javert is wearing lingerie....
@scipwraec they are both great, but i do prefer tims but thsi guy is an amazing singer too, wow i wish i could have seen it ans tim curry , before teh movie was frank in teh first production, the stage play, evrynight he would play frank on stage
I however love the look/design of this frank well I guess the vocals wasn't 100% but he did have attitude I mean adding that lil "riiight" comment in there was enough for me.I loved his non matching fishnets, cape with aqua type themed collar, buckled corset, hair, and make up.And I like it because it was a live performance and nobody should compare it to mr.Curry's portrayal.
I've seen Hewitt live on stage and he's a fine performer, but not my preference for Frank. Frank needs to be manic-sexy-scary. Hewitt is cartoonish and doesn't 'play' with the live audience as well as Terrence (this guy) Mann.
What, did he refuse an autograph or something for you? Harp on, little one. If you don't like his voice, don't sit here and listen to it. It's just that easy.
Creepy, sexy dude in a dress and fishnets. Perhaps a reason never to listen to him the same way, but there couldn't be a good enough reason to never listen to him again.
U say creepy, but think about it. Did you notice when the cape came open, all the cheers came from over-exited girls? to dudes like us, dudes like that are creepy. To most women, dudes like that are sexier than any bodybuilder or musician. I'm not one, but I also don't see the sense in judging someone because of something they do, even though it doesn't hurt anyone (besides, it's ALWAYS pretty fuckin' hilarious).
The guitar and piano riffs and the backup vocals make my life, Plus Terrence Man is sex on a stick. This is a great rendition!!!
I take it back. This is a pretty damn good Frank-N-Furter
I love Tim Curry to pieces and I always will but Terrence is amazing, he also is such a good actor and singer. :D
Holy mother of God.... words cannot express how in love I am with Terrance Mann and this performance, and him as Frank overall.
Wow. He is just dynamite here. And his face looks strangely beautiful.
He and Tim Curry actually look a lot alike.
I agree! Despite the fact that they have two totally different Frank styles, they're both amazing actors!
He is sensational in this.
i honestly can't thank you enough for posting this. . . terrence mann is simply astounding!!
Why don't hardcore Rocky fans like this production? It's so fun!
I'm a hardcore rocky fan and I love this!!!!! Obviously Tim curry will always be the first to me, but he does so well.
+HALFTHEMIKE I know I've always loved Terrence Mann - he works hard and it shows in everything he does!
Naaa theres only one man that can play this part, that is tim curry
Terry Mann is amazing. 'Nuff said.
I grew up a very sheltered life.. I wish that I knew of this when I was younger... ugh. This is amazing.
Tim was prettier and more into character then Mr. Mann, but he is a power house singer and did the song righteously! Brava.
One of my favorite people ever playing one of my favorite characters ever!!! Hardcore
Oh...my...GOD. I can't believe that the same guy who played Javert and the Beast played Frank the "Sweet Transvestite."
Much appreciated!
Cast list has been appropriately updated.
That cape is FREAKIN AWESOME!!!!!
I saw this on Broadway in 2000. It was great play! I wish it was still there. I would love to see if again
Omg I love this ❤️
Couldn't stop smiling :D I just love this musical
Looked like a blast!
That. Was. Amazing!
OMg he's great!
Squidward: Oh no! He’s hot!
If there a full show bootleg with this amazing HD-ish quality ?
Wooooooooooooooe!! This guy sounds like Tim Curry!! Amazing!!
I wanted to yell out "castles dont have phones a..hole" at Brad lol
The fact that I saw this man live (and with more clothes on).... What a guy.
Very good
Straight as a line, yet he plays bent Dr. Frank so well. : )

Once that curse was broken, he figured he'd flaunt the hairless legs.
He did the impossible... He actually naled the accent

Javert as Frank, Mimi as Magenta\. I really can't imagine anything more perfect than this.
She also played fantine actually
Also known as human and still sexy Rum Tum Tugger.

He's done wild roles like this before. Look him up as Rum Tum Tugger in Cats. :3
The internet: i actually like this new frank
Me: IMPOSSIBLE!
@scipwraec not sure. which do you prefer?
kind of looks like ursula from Little Mermaid!
+Anthony Smith Drat, now I can't unsee that! haha
so sorry!!!!
"Why was that man wearing pantyhose????" I thought I was gonna piss myself laughing at that.
This is like a rockstar Frank
:Chefkiss:
Rocky Horror: The only show that Flips the Bird at the 4th wall and does it well.
I concur.
omg why is the beast wearing fishnets?
Do you have the full video?
Does a good quality full video of this exist? I'd love to see it.
@Daizzey85 LOL! Thank you. And that depends. Are you wearing fish-nets and a merry widow?
I didn't mean me personally, I meant straight men. I for one LOVE this character. oh my god
@DrFlaxWebFLOO I'm very sorry to hear that! He was a talented actor.
@ginny7676 Joan's label just flat out did not allow her to be part of the CD. She wanted to though.
Whisper is that you?
Omg. Legit sometimes have to watch things like this after rewatching sense8 to remind myself how much if a Boss human he is. But then i also watch these after sense8 and go “i dont know how Im supposed to feel about him anymore”
Excellllent... all the more for me, then.
Circle in the Square, I believe.
Something for every... body. : )
I love the part in 00.56))))
Man, is there anything Terry CAN'T do??
Win a Tony Award?
@Daizzey85 I like to think that Frank is Javert's secret alter ego. Hidden depths. Underground Paris nightclubs.
Love the music from 1:55 to 2:11
Terrence is very Tim Curry like. I like it. Tom Hewitt was great also.
matthew morrison!
I doubt it.
Hey I just thought I'd let u know and I'm not doing this to be a jerk but thats not sebastian bach as riff in this. I have this dvd thats Jason Whooten.
This is on dvd?
Downright magnetic he is, says chicks like us.
My point is nobody deserves to be judged based off of gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, race, or choice of clothing. The only thing that should matter is how good of a person you are. That must be why he originated Javert and Rum Tum Tugger. /sarcasm
Terrence were the Orginal Javert on Broadway in 87, so please, think twice.
He's a true Broadway veteran. Original Broadway Rum Tum Tugger, original Jacket on Bway, original Beast in Beauty & the Beast, so many accolades!
Anyone else think that Eddie Izzard needs to play Dr. Frank?
Oh look it's whispers from sense8.
So James Stovall died a few days ago. Really sucks. He played a good Frank & Dr. Scott understudy.
My second point is that if ur straight, girls tend to be more comfortable around a man who has tolerance for seperate cultures, which gives you the chance to ask her out & get a "Yes.'' When I said the antici...pation thing, I meant I like this character the best in the show. He's the funniest.
@cranberysawus Trademark teeth! : D They serve him well.
@xtravert2001 You know it!
Terry could shave his head and paint himself green and still have to shoo away swooning women.
I do have a problem with him looking sexier in lingerie and heels than I could ever have a hope to look. *grumble*
Mal Beineke in Addams Family😂
That awkward moment when you go to listen to the original cast of Les Miserables, but can't because the only thought in your mind is...Javert is wearing lingerie....
@scipwraec they are both great, but i do prefer tims
but thsi guy is an amazing singer too, wow
i wish i could have seen it
ans tim curry , before teh movie
was frank in teh first production, the stage play, evrynight he would play frank on stage
oh terrence mann, you the only person i know who has played the stern Javert and the transexual Frank-n-furter
@scipwraec yupp
Also reminds me of Julia murney
BEFORE YOU SAY ANOTHER WORD...
Ja...vert...
Why are you wearing fishnets?
I agree but I think Tom Hewitt was pretty good too :)
I've seen Hewitt live on stage and he's a fine performer, but not my preference for Frank. Frank needs to be manic-sexy-scary. Hewitt is cartoonish and doesn't 'play' with the live audience as well as Terrence (this guy) Mann.
Those people in the audience are spoilers :/
Charlemagne is that you????
Haha, Janet. Why was that man wearing pantyhose...
I think I like this one better than Tom Hewitt.
What, did he refuse an autograph or something for you? Harp on, little one. If you don't like his voice, don't sit here and listen to it. It's just that easy.
@scipwraec i love you. is that weird? i hope not.
Creepy, sexy dude in a dress and fishnets. Perhaps a reason never to listen to him the same way, but there couldn't be a good enough reason to never listen to him again.
LISTEN TO ME! There are better shoes with that outfit!
No offence. Didn't like that at all. Lacking attitude, sexual appeal, legs and vocal ability. Tim Curry just can't be beat.
Ugh
U say creepy, but think about it. Did you notice when the cape came open, all the cheers came from over-exited girls? to dudes like us, dudes like that are creepy. this guy can't touch tim curry. not that good...at all
