The South African National Anthem (Haylea Heyns)

- The highlight of my career was singing The South African National Anthem for the test match rugby between The Springboks and Georgia at Loftus Versveld in Pretoria.
The thing that makes this even more special is that it was the first game the South African national team, the Springboks, played after winning the Rugby World Cup in 2019. I remember singing the British anthem, "God Save the Queen," at Ellis Park three years ago, and Siya Kholisi was leading the Springboks as captain for the first time. This was a huge dream come true for him, and singing the South African national anthem was a big dream realized for me too. I hope you like my version of our beautiful anthem and good luck to the Springboks against the British and Irish Lions.

@@hayleaheyns She is. Although she doesn't feel South African, to be honest. But I and her brother try to make my son interested about his South African heritage. He loves his grandfather, so it's only fair. And I think it's starting to work. He told me: "Daddy, I'm Québec, I'm England and I'm a bit Africa as well."
Bloody Africans, it’s like you’re trying to win a Rugby game with this most horrible tune. Probably scares the other team into losing even before the game started. "Bushveld tactics" mind you.

@@hayleaheyns True, even playing what we call football , or Rugby without the rain. We play NZ at Eden Park this weekend, not won there in 35 years, but still a bloody ripper of a rendition of a great National Anthem,
Thanks. I went looking for the NZ National Anthem for an ANZAC Day Remembrance Service ( our national day) - Hayley Westenra and came across your rendition which challenged best national anthems. I already knew the anthem from Cry Freedom as I had a friend who lived in Hout Bay ( 1989) , sent me a Springbok jumper, Stay Safe Cheeers from Australia
