Welcome the my review of an 1981 US Military MRE Meal Ready To Eat Menu 3 Beef Patties.
MRE's were first introduced in 1981 and that makes this a origin MRE from the first year of production.
Made in Michigan not Missouri, my bad.

Back in my Army daysi loved the pork patty as it had apple sauce and I reconstituted it in the bag in my pocket and add it to the applesauce a truly great meal. I loved the MCI and missed them .
41 years old... what do you expect lol. I believe that canned food will last for ever 🙂 As always, good show mate 🙂

Unfortunately that ration had seen it's best days sometime back. I kind of felt that only the coffee, sugar and gum would have been okay, I wasn't figuring the meat patty was freeze dried. If it hadn't been I am sure it would have gone bad to.
Hi Kevin, yea ir was lucky the main was freeze-dried other wise I wouldn't have eaten anything, that would have been a boring video, in 1981 there were on two menus which had freeze dried mains menu 1 pork and menu 3 beef so pretty lucky to get either one.

Hi this was fantastic. Very funny. I’m a bit of a novice, an idea I had (you might have already done it), if you could do a vid, explaining the different types, and how and when they could have been used eg you mentioned a humanitarian pack etc in you talking about the different packs, and the things on the packs eg why you can’t use in in flight or pre flight eg introducing all the noobies, and novices to this world. I hope that is clear.
Gday sis, There are heaps of different types of rations from all over the world, they most are military or civilian with a few that have a humanitarian purpose.
as far as the not for pre flight or in flight refers to the fact that mre's can cause gas and more so ones with beans, so its not recommended to eat prior to a flight where you are 30,000 feet in the air in a pressurised cabin.
You will have to watch all my other videos to catch up all the information.

G'day Lee, 1993-1994 the flameless ration heaters were added to mres.
A great resource for mre history is the Web site mreinfo.com it has every mre menu listed, and its a great source of info especially on the brown bag mres which have no date of production.

As many knives , as I use, in reviews, I have plenty of those bad boys here. I shall use, my friend. Find one now. Next review, you will see I am sincere, sir. I have rehydrated the fruit, never lucked into the meat? Apparently, some items were spoiled, LOL! Fresh Hell. New to my vocabulary. May I use, with your permission? I can give you terms, old language, you might use? Us Yanks, have many terms. Vintage meals, are A history lesson. Hard to find one with, solid components. Yourself, and, the meal, did suffer , just A bit. You, my friend, are brave to attempt this ration. Bad ration, however, great history lesson. All of us , learn as we go.
